I think Apple was expected to deliver a bigger update then the on they did now with the iPhone 4S. The only explanation I can give for that is the stock market prices who dropped after the presentation. And that is the most important item for a company: the stock market. If a company does well, like Apple did in the last few months, share prices went up. Now with the release of the iPhone 4S shares dropped just are the presentation which means that the shareholders were expecting something more innovative then this upgrade.

You've got to be a right mug to of voted yes .. when did apple ever mention a tiny detail about the new phone to get your hopes up?

They didn't. It was all media speculation and people hoping they had uncovered a leak - They generally didn't.

Give over.

Second guess my wants and needs? First of all, I don't get what you're trying to say...

Its not just US freaking out. Thats whats freaky.

EVERYONE on Twitter was calling this a lame release! Its not even a trending topic anymore! Normally it would be trending for like 2 days straight after a release. 16 Months and it only trended 4 hours????

Everyone on Facebook is complaining too. Everyones status is clowning on the release.

Everyone on here...

Everyone.

The iPhone 5 doesn't exsist, get over it. Maybe you are upset with the iPhone 4S, but everyone is certainly not. It's your observation that everyone "is clowning on the release." If you are dissatisfied, then say 'I am unpleasant or mad,' but don't include all the members of certain communities. That's all I have to say, as I am spending too much time with the pessimistic people. Good Day Sir!

Apple never announced anything, therefore promising nothing.

That said, relative to the current mobile phone market and the competitiveness that it has now, Apple has definitely not brought anything new to the table when it comes to hardware.

Then again, cutting-edge spec-oriented hardware has never been on Apple's priority list. They make products that are not only pieces of art, but function flawlessly and are of near-perfect convenience to the consumer.

This year has only increased that vision, as Apple's main focus has been mainly software.

Bro,

It took them 16 months to release something thats hardly different.

They have unlimited funds for development.

Thats OUR money that we gave them because they PROVED to US that they innovate and give us nice gems and gifts of products so thats the silent understanding Apple has with its loyal consumers which is why we trust them with our money and don't mind paying comparatively higher prices. In this case we felt like we didn't get our money's worth.

So Ill say it again HANK...

THEY

EXPLANATION.

With all due respect and decorum, you are insane.

Apple is under no obligation (legal or otherwise) to keep us abreast of what they are working on. How many times do they have to say "We do not comment on unannounced products"? This is their policy. If you don't like it, then there are other options out there.

Everyone.

Nonsense. The people you follow on Twitter is not "Everyone". Even if you followed a million people. Same goes to your Facebook. You do realize that there are nearly 7 BILLION people in the world, correct?

"Everyone on here"? Really? Just look at the rest of the iPhone forum. You'll find plenty of members who are more than happy with the iPhone 4S. Beyond that there are thousands of unregistered guests who view these forums daily that are quite possibly more than satisfied with the iPhone 4S.

The technology industry as a whole may be disappointed, yes, but they know that while tech-addicted people such as yourself would gladly switch to Android, but that is a tiny niche of people among general consumers.

They don't owe anyone anything. No they did not mislead people. It is safe to ask yourself if Apple listened to anything that any of the customers wanted. They basically ignored the customer and that is the true reason behind everyones frustration. So many people never thought that apple would do them wrong. If you feel that way then simply don't buy the iPhone because this shows it is not for you. You want a sleek phone that runs speedily, LTE, and has a bigger screen? There's one coming out soon and gs2 is awesome on ATT.

Product loyalty is dumb. I'm typing this on an iPad, but when it comes time to update this thing someone else might be doing tablets better. I'd be a moron not to buy the better product no matter what the brand might be. That has happened with smartphones. Someone else is doing it better than Apple.

Apple owes you very little, actually. They are a for profit company. If you bought their previous phone they owe you support for that phone for a few years. That's about it.
You're bummed, I get it. Folks often are when a new rumored device is hyped to high heaven then finally announced.

Misleading, no. They didn't say a peep about the new iPhone before the keynote. Everyone (including myself) just got swept up in the rumors.

Disappointing, yes.

There should be wrath at the WSJ for putting out that Sprint exclusive story/rumor. Same for all the case makers. Then there's all the other wild speculators. Plenty of threads to choose from.

Apple? They did what they always do, whether it's hardware, software or online services . . . they make the announcement when they want, the way they want.

The only thing that Apple said with any relevance to the next iPhone was during the Q2 earnings call. They said that there was, and I quote, an "upcoming product transition".

We mislead ourselves from there.
