I have been following best buy's ipad 2 supply the past few weeks in Long Island. It seems like they all don't have any in stock at all. Even when it says online that they do, when I call or visit they say they don't have any. They used to have some a month ago. Did something happen? It sucks bc I am handcuffed to them bc I have a lot of gift cards there.

A friend of mine has purchased 3 there in the last week or so and I can't find one there to save my life. I'd like to use BB as a Reward Zone member, but I think I may have to head to my Apple store. As of last week, none of the BB's in my state have had any in stock per their website.

there was one best buy that it said on their website has a 64gb ipad 2. I called and they said its not accurate. they said they haven't received any in weeks and they were told to stop taking preorders. I wonder if the rumors are true.😡

I am not going to buy an "in demand" product at BB ever again after my iPad 2 debacle. I was 2 traffic lights from the store one mornning on my way to work, I call and they said they had "plenty" of 16GB WIFI only models in. I asked what "plenty" meant and the guy said he couldn't give exact inventory over the phone, but that it was quite a few. I was in the store in exactly 4 minutes, ask an employee to get one for me, and without even checking anything he says "we sold out". Im standing there 15 minutes after open looking at a completely dead store with only 1 cashier and no one in line.

I asked him how that was even possible when I had just called and he says "I'm not sure, we just sold out, that's it". I asked him how it was possible in a dead store with only 1 cashier to go through that many that fast and he just stared at me.

I got one the next morning when the Apple store opened. I don't care about the Reward Zone at this point, I am not going to do business with them period, I'll let the Apple store have my business, especially for accessories where this is a tone of margin. If BB is going to do business like that then forget it.

Sounds like someone lied to you over the phone. While I'm not defending BB, I wouldn't be as upset with the store as you seem to be.

"If BB is going to do business like that then forget it"

Just because you get a bad clerk doesn't mean the whole company is the same way.

As for the RZ, I've racked up over 200 bucks in certificates in just the past year and a half alone. The only reason I don't care if I get an iPad there is because I'm picking up a new iMac for work once they are in stock. That will more than make up for the lost iPad points.

I got mine at BB @ Carle Place 2 weeks ago. No idea whether they have any in stock anymore.

I think we are just starting to see the impact of Tsunami on the supplier chain in Japan.

I will call them again. I'm so pissed I am handcuffed to bb with these gift cards.

I have like $500 in best buy gift cards. Do you think I can use those and buy itunes gift cards at bb, then go to an apple store and swap them for apple giftcards and buy an ipad there? I know this is a stretch.

One BB I spoke to today said they got a few Verizon ipads yesterday. That's a good sign. Unfortunately it seems like these stores get much 3g ipads then wifi only ipads.

Buy online from Best Buy store showing stock availability

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1140333/

Check the post I made in the thread above... I am really curious if it would work... let me know the store you intend to purchase from and what model they show availability of - that URL in the thread above can be customized with the model and store to add it to an online cart for purchase where you could use your gift cards - worst case they just refund you - best case it'll be there waiting for pick up. Added bonus you could maybe earn referral site points.

I was in the same boat - I went through Over Whelming Offers and bought a bunch of Best Buy gift cards at 1/2 off - so I did a Best Buy reservation on release and received mine early April - but I am curious if you could buy online by forcing it into a cart.

Hmm did this work for you? I want the 64gb wifi only black
Levittown NY (Store 467)
3601 Hempstead Tpke
Nassau Mall
Levittown, NY 11756

thanks

Store must show availabilty

The store online must show availability - so for the example of the store you mentioned, it does not - but there is another store "COMMACK NY" which does... therefore the following URL is based on the "COMMACK NY" store 200.

You can research availability based on the thread:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1118982/

Once you find the model and store that according to this inventory system shows stock - the URL below can be customized to force it into your cart.

I just tested this URL successfully - to at least add it to a cart - I bought mine using the reservations Best Buy was accepting right after launch so I have not tried this and cannot say for sure it would actually work - curious to know if it does tho.

Now the above URL may be to long to copy and paste into a browser... so if you copy it and don't see the ...jsp at the end - the browser didn't accept all the text and the way around this is to open notepad and create a simple html file containing the following:

Code:

The above URL is for the black 64 wi-fi only for the store below - NOT the one you mentioned...:

I got mine from there last Friday. Online inventory said my local bestbuy had the 16gb wifi's in stock. I called, they said no, only preorders 😕...I went ahead and stopped by that afternoon on my way home, and sure enough they were in stock. Saved $200 with my rewardzone gift cards 😀

I've tried for 2 weeks to get one from BB since I have $350 in gift cards there. Called all over the Phoenix valley and they always say they don't have any and never know when they will show up. A couple stores indicated they were still fulfilling pre-orders. 😡

I'm not sure it's very reliable, I've checked it everyday multiple times and have seen nothing available in my area for the last couple weeks. I had read somewhere that someone was using that site but they stopped in a store anyway and found one there so that leads me to believe it's not necessarily updated.

Gotcha...I am debating taking a trip to a store not to close to me that says they have a 64gb wifi but when i call they say they dont have any.
