Am I missing something

Why dont u guys just order it via apple or 3rd party?

Avoid worst buy

Some people have a bunch of gift cards to use, locking them to BB.
Others like BB. (I'm not a fan, but it's easy to figure some may like it)
Yet others perhaps buy enough from BB that getting RewardZone points is worth it to them, as that gets them gift cards to use on other stuff (see #1).

Aside from the gift cards and reward zone, BB's supplemental insurance does cover against accidents, meaning that if you break the screen or drop it in a sink full of water, it's covered. Applecare doesn't cover user negligence.

I personally don't like buying products over the internet. If I receive a defective product, I want to be able to take it back to the store for a refund/exchange, without having to ship it, which could cause the potential for additional disputes.

Be very careful of who you deal with on the internet, There are scam companies that copy the websites of legitimate businesses, and if you buy from them, you won't receive your product, and may have a real problem trying to get your money back. It's risky, and I personally prefer to buy from a local retail store. To me, the extra cost is worth my peace of mind.

Thank you!

Ok, here's the deal if you are stuck with Best Buy gift cards as I was and you are tired of waiting for them to be in stock. Go to any Best Buy, and purchase the Best Buy Visa cards (which are good anywhere) with your BB gift cards. You can put up to $200 on each Visa card you purchase so you might need to get multiples. It will cost you 5.95 per card but to me it was worth it. So, now you have the option to purchase anywhere, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, Target or the Apple Store. If you still can't find in any of those stores, go to your local Apple retail store and purchase an Apple Store gift card (NOT iTunes). Then you can use that to order your iPad 2 online as I did tonight. FYI - you can only use up to 2 cards on the Apple store online so I had to purchase an Apple card with my two Visa cards I got at BB. I ordered online tonight and should have it in a couple weeks. 😀

I saw your post yesterday and decided to take your advice. The BB closest to my home wouldn't let me buy the Visa cards "with other gift cards". The woman was an idiot, went and asked her boss, I pointed out they are prepaid cards and she continued to say I couldn't. I wasn't going to give up and I needed to go to the Apple store in Louisville anyways so I went to the BB over there. This time, cashier said nothing and just put all my gift cards through to pay for my two VISA cards. Went to the Apple store to buy the gift card then viola! Ordered my white 32 GB WiFi online when I got home! 🙂 Ship date is May 31st with delivery by June 6th. I hope I get it sooner!
Thanks for the idea smatica!

Don't know if this has already been covered, but my local BB in Atlanta has iPads, smartcovers, and all kinds of other Apple crap. No shortage here.

I'm glad it worked out for you! 😀

I had a very similar situation a few years back. BB put out a coupon for 50% off of a Tivo, but they failed to say that the DirecTV Tivo unit was excluded & they sent out an internal memo to not accept it. Every BB in Atlanta refused to honor the coupon, but when I went on vacation to Florida, I decided to try it out & it worked like a champ.

Sometimes you need to try a bunch of different avenues before you give up.

Nice. Hopefully, this will mean that there are going to be good news for me at my local BestBuy later on this week. 😀

They are likely Verizon 3G's - from what several customer service people said from Best Buy they are the LEAST popular Ipad2 - especially the 64GB one. If you are looking for a WiFi only in a store you will be very lucky.

Thanks guys

That makes sense

Alternately for those not using any Bb gift cards and want warranty square trade is a great alternative and cheaper too.

Sure they don't switch your device or give u an upgrade on the spot but a great alternative none the less

Me personally - blame it on my mom - but I never pay retail

Or try to avoid it!

Awesome I just did this. Bought BB Visa gift cards and then used those towards the ipad at target. I used the findone app. There stock seems to be more inline then the best buy stock with the online trackers.

The BB in Downers grove on Butterfield Rd had 4 iPads in stock when I left a little while ago. All were Verizon, one was 32 GB and the rest 64GB. Chicagoland.

I usually have good luck finding things at that particular BB.
