Did you purchase Apple Care

I never buy Apple Care. It's insurance, and it's not insuring me against an impossibly large expense so economically it should be cheaper to avoid it in the long run.

I buy health insurance, and car insurance (mostly because of the liability coverage) because bad luck can hit me with expenses I can't sustain.

On a consumer electronics purchase I'd expect it to cost me more than it's worth-- and if it doesn't then there's a quality issue with the device and I'm buying the wrong product.

For those that purchased apple care over the phone or tech support did they really have to remote into the actual watch?
Wait, what?! Is this really even possible?

I am thinking of skipping the apple care only because it's water proof and I plan to get a bumper for uses in tough times. Otherwise the only thing I can see happening in a damage stainless case or shattered screen, which would probably be rare.

It can be returned as well and it's pro rated right?
If I purchased and sold the item how do you transfer apple care to the other person or is it just on the device and not tied to you name/address. It's like you buy this watch for 700 and prices keep coming for apple care/straps/bands... Lol

You can transfer or ask for a pro-rated refund.

Think it's still possible if the watch was purchased at like Best Buy you can still buy Apple Care from Apple?
I purchased mine straight from Nike and got Appel Care on it about 2 weeks after I got it. I purchased Apple Care online. It doesn't matter where you purchase the watch from

Did you have to prove the Watch was not damaged? If not, what prevents someone from buying AC+ after they damage their Watch?

Well you can only add it for 60 days. You can't wait 6 months until you damage it and then buy it, so that helps sort that out pretty well.

How did the process work to Purchase online?

OK, fair enough. I just picked up a SS S2, so I have 7 more weeks to decide.

Pics of the SS please? Debating on this color over the Cool Gray Nike and SS Black....

I basically just went to the apple care+ website and put in the serial number of the watch. They can tell by looking at that when it was purchased. I had to download a diagnostic app through the iPhone to make sure that the watch was functional. Obviously, they have no way of knowing if there is cosmetic or damage such as a broken screen, etc

Yeah i figured you had to download that app. Probably just take mine back into the store and add it on.

I bought my SB SS at Best Buy. Can I go back to BB and purchase AC+ or do I have to go into the Apple Store?

Imagine it'd be easier to just go back to Best Buy. You're going to add the AC+ to your Stainless watch?
When you got your Watch at BB did you just walk in and they had one to purchase?

I bought mine online the day before Thanksgiving and had it shipped to my house. The SG Nike and SB SS models kept coming and going on their website, so I finally decided to pull the trigger when an open box showed up. I had the option to buy AC+, but I was not sure I was going to keep the SS model due to the extra weight.

I am pretty sure I am going to keep it now, so I will probably buy AC+ before my 45 day return option runs out.

Nice catch. How much was open box?

The price for the 42mm was $550 and I used $145 of my BB rewards money to bring it down to $405.

It was listed as excellent condition with all accessories. When I received it, the protective paper was still on the Watch, charging puck and wall charger. The booklet and extra band looked like they had not been touched. I think someone bought it, opened the box and returned it right away.

That's not a bad deal. You must have spend a pretty penny at BB to have the 145 reward points!
[doublepost=1480878530][/doublepost]Has anyone ever used their credit card warranty.
I hear this talk of Amex extending warranties and stuff like that, but is anyone familiar with step by step how to claim process works?
[doublepost=1480878567][/doublepost]Say through Amex?

That typo!
I keep reading though even people on here with Apple Care has to jump through hoops.
I just received my watches a few days ago. I had apple care+ on my original Apple Watch. And I went through hell trying to get it replaced. I ended up just giving it to my brother and buying the 2 that I have now. I'm not sure if I'll get AppleCare this time around what makes it so tough to utilize the warranty on the watches is that they're not replaced or worked on in store like the phones are.

I believe that the Apple care+ is tied to the product not the person. So it automatically transfers

You should seriously consider apple care+ just in case. My 42mm SS AW died after 14months of putting it through is pace. Can't see the display anymore especially in the light.

No did not buy apple care+ so there goes the watch, however I ordered a SS series 2 with apple care+ this time around.

Wow hurts to take that hit!
Yeah I nabbed an Apple Watch and I'm still debating on AC. I purchased on a AMEX so the warranty should be extended.

Yes I took a hit here. my wife Apple Watch is still going strong I bought both SS at the same time 42mm for me and 38mm for her. No one as ever seen this before not even at my local Apple Store. Mine is probably a defect or lemon maybe. But I guess you never know what's going to happen with these electronic devices. Can't do anything about it because I didn't have apple care+. This is the first watch that I have that crap out on me, after all the years of owning many different ones. But this has been apple first Generation of watches as well so hopefully series 2 will last a long time and is a better built overall.

I've heard stories of Apple randomly taking care of people sometimes too. Figured since you were one year out they'd try and see what they could do for you. No luck huh?

No sir no luck at all i tried but they wanted $250 to replace it. I just didn't think it was wise to pay $250 to replace it especially with series 2 being out. So it made sense to put that $250 towards series 2. The funny thing is that Apple is comparing there selfs to Rolex and other top brand even working with Hermes the french brand now. So it not just a smart watch anymore its a luxury watch as well at least thats whats its looking like. But most of the top brand gives you 2years or more when you purchase there watches. My Citizen Eco Drive i got 5year warranty with my purchase and it still going strong and i paid $750 for it. I think apple should give the minimum 2years of the top and give us a extra one year with AppleCare + that would be more reasonable to me. But if this series 2 doesn't hold up for me this time around. This will be my last AW for sure.
