Looks and the battery life are really the only reason I'm getting a MBP. I've had a crappy Dell laptop all through college and it's got this huge heavy battery that sticks out, weighs a ton, only gets about 3 hours of battery life, and is losing pieces after only 3 years of use. My parents bought me that computer for school so that's fine and all, but I wanted to save up and get myself a computer that's sleek and can last me through two classes without dying.

Although, using macs in my biology labs was a big help since I had HATEDDDD the Mac OS before that. Now I'm used to it so finally switching over is no problem.

Yep, it is by far and away the best looking laptop out there and its build quality is amazing.

I took mine into work for the first time last week and almost felt embarrassed when I pulled it out my bag. Everyone else had crappy black plastic bulky laptops but mine was like a Ferrari to their Citroen.

However there are other reasons why I buy Apple. Their ease of use, OSX, battery life etc etc.

The design was a factor in my purchase :p

But I like playing games... Which can't look too pretty with this gpu. :(

...But OSX is nice :D

In all truth I did buy it because of its design mainly the metal body and amazing design. You just can't find that anywhere else.

I got mine for the following reasons in this order;

Size
Spec
Build Quality
OS
Software capabilities
Cost

Now, OS comes after build, but only by a gnat's left nut as it is all a big bundle of what I need.

Yes and no. I'm not going to put looks above all else, and I've been using macs for over 15 years.

However, I did put off buying my new MBP until after they redesigned them for the unibody, as I think they look nicer.

I'm an engineer/grad student, so functionality beats form. At the same time, I do enjoy a good looking machine.

The unibody enclosure is durable, light, doesn't flex when you pick it up by the corner, is ridgid, and has less parts than other laptops. This was one of the main reasons I picked one up. The screen is LED backlit, which gives better color and uses less battery. I've got the latest 13" MBP, 2.4 GHz and Nvidia 320m, and I run both Windows 7 and OS X on this machine. It runs both well, and handles most of my engineering applications and games. The battery life is great, and I can get all of this performance in a package that is less than 1" thick. Not many laptops offer that.

I'm pretty OS-agnostic, I use both equally, and Lenovo makes good machines. Mac portables offer both form and functionality (unlike some of Apple's other products).

The only thing that I do not like is that Windows support on the Mac is atrocious. The drivers aren't the best, which leads to poor battery life on Windows. Clearly, Mac OS is optimized for the hardware, I just wish that Windows would be as well. Sometimes I prefer Windows.

I needed a new notebook, the industrial design and apparent strength of the unibody design influenced my choice. Additionally the trackpad was one of the best ones that I've used compared to HP/Dell laptops.

I like OSX, I like Win7. When I get a desktop I'd likely get a Windows based machine based on cost.

I will admit, looks are one of the reasons I chose the MacBook pro. It is certainly a reason (among many) I chose the MacBook pro over the MacBook. But if we are talking amongst all laptops/notebooks OSX was the main reason I chose the MacBook/MacBook pro. It would take a lot of advantages (or really no good MacBook choice) for me to go windows (I don't mind XP and I hear 7 isn't bad but I prefer Mac os).

The design aspect does appeal to me very much yes.

to be honest though me getting a mac from the US and bringing it over to Turkey is the same price as getting the same Laptop with the same build only as a pc.

cost(in dollars) gets turned into cost(in euros)+cost(in euros)*0.18(tax %18) then cost(in Turkish Lira)

basically 2000 $ => 2000€ + 360€ => 2360€ * 2 = 4720 TL
if purchased locally
then again 2000$ => 2000*1.53 = 3060 TL
if purchased in the US

the difference in the costs would actually cover me going back and forth to the US

**edit** : in business class Lufthansa :p

I didn't buy mine just because of the "prettiness," I bought it because of a number of reasons.

Hardware specs
OS X
Maintainability
"Prettiness"
Usability
Build quality
Battery Life
