After I registered my rMBA, I went to the Puchased page of the App Store where it showed the iLife apps, and there was an "Accept" button to the right. When I clicked "Accept", the apps were downloaded and installed.

This is the correct answer.

You had to associate it with your Apple account so it can be redownloaded.

Help!, I am not sure I have owned them or not. Can someone verify this for me please?

I got iLife free with the rMBP (as usual), but had to install iDVD myself, as I am going to be doing some DVD work for my dad in the next couple weeks. It makes sense why they omitted it, but they should at least give some consideration to the fact that a few people might be plugging in external drives at some point.

iDVD is discontinued the same with iWeb ;)

That means Apple had cut iLife down to three programs/apps :)

GarageBand, iPhoto, iMovie :)

Well, that's an iLife not worth living! Bad joke? Sorry. =) You jarred my memory and I now seem to recall reading that iDVD was going to be discontinued at some point soon, but didn't realise it corresponded with the discontinuation of iWeb. I quite liked iWeb, but only as a passing curiosity. I suppose I better save an image of iLife on my Mac when I visit my dad in the next few weeks, as he is buying a new 13" MBP which most certainly won't include iDVD it seems! If only he had a newer TV, I'd just put everything on an external drive and he could watch all the family home videos over an Apple TV. Incidentally, anyone have any recommendations for an HDMI to DVI converter? He's sadly lacking in the HDMI department.

If you have the iLife 09 or iLife 11 Retail cd/dvd then you can install iWeb and iDVD but i don't think it's optimized for the rMBP.. :)

But now we are gonna get ML soon.. Gonna be awesome! :D

I would say that you own them.. As i can see they are installed and if they are installed and you can update them trough AppStore then you own them/Then its yours ! :)

Thank you for your reply. I haven't done any part of clicking accept in the Mac App store. I did only register. How did I own them?

I thought that iLife came installed on the rMBP. I had to wipe and restore my rMBP beacuse of a migration problem when I first got my rMBP. I called appl and one sevice tech told me it did come with it that it would show up in Mac app store as purched. But mine did not show up I called back and the other Tech guy told me it does not come preinstalled. Did your rMBP come with iLife?
Thanks,
Jeff

i bought my MBP 13" 2012 and after reinstall lion on new SSD Ilife didn't show up in App Store.
After a while i found out that in your account settings you can check " show installed app's" or uncheck it, or something like that.
Then you login again and all apps who are free or purchased shows up again.

Hope this helps

I found mine I had to unhide my purches in order for them to show up. Then I just redownloaded them. So the answer is yes iLife11 comes preinstalled on rMBP.
