Yes you are...you are essentially being given a gift that AT&T and Apple decided was worth it in exchange for the disappearance of most of the outrage for the price of the 3GS. You're complaining about a gift you didn't deserve anymore than I did (both of us are still not "upgrade eligible")...you didn't have to wait until your eligibility date to get the BEST pricing...no you got your pricing lowered because people complained about the price. It is not a refund. It is a gift to shut you up about the price of the phone.
A gift or not, the fact of the matter is this, AT&T told us we'd get a refund. They did not specify the date of said refund, just that it would happen. Now while I do have patience, if I'm promised something by someone (be it a person, or a company), I expect to get it. So if the US government tells you you're getting a refund on your taxes, but doesn't tell you when you'll be receiving it, you'd be perfectly fine with that? In this terrible economy, every dollar counts. So yeah, I'd rather have my $200 back thank you.

Well so far I haven't gotten my 200.00, and I'm not sure I ever will. I have however been sent the following for my troubles, and I swear I didn't ask for ANYTHING but my 200.00 bucks but the Apple reps I guess have felt bad.

First I was sent a pair of the new Apple In Ear headphones, I think they retail for around 80.00, I also got a pack of Power Support crystal screen shields, in total 100.00 bucks worth of stuff.

Then, on the most recent call, 2 weeks later after I was told to wait for my email, they guy is sending me a 16GB Ipod Touch 2nd gen, brand new in box. That retails for 299.99.

The best part is the guy says I still may get my 200.00 and none of this other stuff they are giving me will negate that credit, if in fact it ever comes.

Needless to say I'm happy with the customer support they are trying to give, but all I ever really wanted was my 200.00 bucks. Oh well.

Wow... a 16GB iPod Touch? Enquiring minds would like to know what exactly did you say when you called? ;)

In regards to my $200 refund, no sign of it yet. I think this problem should be on the front page of MacRumors.

I had a contact at Apple Customer Relations that swore, 3 different times, that I was in fact getting this credit. He was THE only rep, a higher level supervisor, that was able to verify I could get this credit. How he did I have no idea because NO ONE else at Apple had any idea who would get it, they all just said wait for this mysterious email.

So I called him a couple times over the last 2 weeks because like it or not, the squeaky wheel gets the oil, people like some people tell you to just sit with your thumb up your ass and wait for a huge corporation to give a **** about them. Not me.

Am I annoying to them? Most likely. But I wanted my 200.00 that both AT&T AND Apple told me I would get, to be honest I have very little faith in AT&T getting Apple all the proper information on EVERY person who is eligible for this. Too many variables and all of this info being reviewed by people. People who sometimes screw up. So yeah, I'm calling about my 200.00.

Anyway, I was basically ignored for 2 weeks. My "contact" returned neither of my 2 voice mails over the last 2 weeks. So last night I spoke to yet another "supervisor" which at Apple seems to be anyone nearby with a headset. I asked him to please reach my contact and have him call me, being ignored by a customer service rep is kind of annoying. 200.00 on a device like a phone is a lot of money, don't act like you got it so good it doesn't matter.

Finally my contact called me back and said he still didn't know, in fact he was told that all the emails should have gone out by now. He said he was sorry and since he assured me I was getting this credit, he offered me the Ipod Touch as a way to make up for it.

To be honest I forgot at this point how the hell I ended up with the earphones, these people are trained to give you stuff to shoo you away and make you happy. I know some Apple blow hard is going to tell me how wrong it is, buuuut I really don't give a ****.

I am calling for something that is rightfully mine, it is not a gift, that's ridiculous. It is money that I overpaid 4 days prior to a complete switch in policy. I never complained about what I paid for the phone, and I really couldn't care less why they changed the policy. But as it is, I overpaid for something. Overpaying for anything is pretty stupid.

The bottom line is I have ALWAYS been polite yet firm and that is how you will get something out of this. If you keep taking the "just wait" ******** excuse you will go away empty handed.

Based on what I was told, the emails have been sent, if you didn't get one, you're SOL. Could he be wrong? Probably.

This was in my inbox, not really the email I have anticipated but better than nothing.

So, it has been a little while and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about their refund. This is getting ridiculous.
