The capacity was the only thing I was 100% sure of from the very start. 64GB. Color I was 99% sure of. Space Gray. Model/size I was 60/40 on, and flipped daily. Landed happily on a 6s.

No "I need to get more space next time around" option? I was guilted into 16GB by a family member, "you won't NEED it", "you shouldn't spend the extra money" etc etc and got the 16GB. Sure enough, a few months later, I install a few large games and run out of space. Also wanted to download some Doctor Who season 8 episodes off iTunes and I could only store like 1 or 2 HD episodes, had to get all standard definition and delete other stuff at that.

I fit into 16GB with 3 or 4 gigs to spare right now but that's only because I offloaded all the videos from my photo library to my computer. I can't even fit them on my phone, it's about 4 or 5 gigs of video. I also don't have all the games, apps and such I would like to, I delete what I am done using. Very frustrating.

I have the 64GB version with 16GB remaining. It's fine, I'm not worried, though next time I'll probably opt for the 128GB version.

64GB iPhone 6s Plus and same on Air 2. I have never found I needed more than that. I do also have a 64GB iPod Touch 6th Gen. Keep it in company vehicle with the bulk of my music.

I got 128GB and if Apple ever offers more I'll take it, for the iPhone. For the iPad Mini 4 I will be content with 64GB. I currently have 128 on my Mini 2 and I haven't used even half of that.

It's my use of my iPhone as a camera and video recorder that makes my storage needs as high as they are. I'm not one to sit there offloading my pics and vids to my computer or cloud storage very often. I like it all right there on my iPhone instantly accessible.

Yes I definitely picked the right capacity. I've always picked the highest capacity models (16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB) and I've always used up everything.

As a rule of thumb I switched last year from a "16 Gb is enough" rules to a "I need 64 Gb on any on my iDevices".
Perhaps 64 Gb are a little overkill (I have 38 Gb of free storage on my iPhone and 40 Gb of free storage on my iPad), but I'm more comfortable that way.
I'm not planning to switch to 128 Gb in the near future.

Your question implies that a wrong choice could have been made. Either too much or too little. The only wrong choice is making the decision to get less than what I want.

I resent the implication that I could have more space than I need and that 'just right' is the mark I should be aiming for! I get what I want and to hell with need.

I buy the maximum that Apple offers every time. 32GB with the 3GS, 64GB with the 5, 128GB with the 6+ and 6s+. I get my wife the same. If Apple offers the 7 with 256GB that is the capacity we will be getting - unless they offer more. Whatever is the max capacity they will offer.

I don't care about needing it or not. I want it. I buy it.
good philosophy .... if you can afford it.

64 GB, because 16 GB is not an option for most.
that's right for me. My wife's 16 Gb iPhone 5S has 8 Gb of free space.....

I only have 9GB left on my 64GB iPhone but I have more than 20GB of photos and video and honestly I don't need them all the time on my phone.
When I'll get close to fill the storage I'll save space by keeping the high quality version of my photo gallery on iCloud and delete some of the apps I never use, as MS Office.

Those who selected their 6S/6S plus devices did you pick the right model in terms of space?

I have 128GB for all my devices. 6S plus, air 2, mini 4. However when checking my 6S plus even with over 4,500 photos and live photos on all the time, 167 apps, 53 songs and 27 videos I still have 67GB remaining. So part of me thinks do I need all this space?

I keep movies on my Air 2 128 GB and 6S Plus 128 GB, so the space comes in handy. On the 6S Plus, I have 85 GB free right now...but I don't have everything on it. :) The Air 2 is close to full.

I will not keep as much on the 6S with 64 GB that's arriving today. We'll see how that goes.

Or are willing to wait for it.

We have our phones for 2.5 to 3 years and we buy new phones with our tax refund. I have no desire to regret my choice for that long and since this is a planned expense every so often it can be planned for.

I am a patient person. This message is being typed on the 2001 era Mac of my dreams. I can now afford all the enhancements I made to it that would have cost thousands 10 to 12 years ago because prices have dropped in to my range.

I usually go for 16gb. I still had 7gb space on my 5 after three years.

When I got the 6s I though well apps are getting bigger and photos and videos too so I'm best getting 64gb.

I've so far used 9.7gb. I've put songs on because I could. That's something I don't usually do as I have an iPod that has all my music on. So I could take 1-2gb off that.

I'm a little annoyed at having spent £80 extra but I plan to keep the phone for a while and when upgrade time comes I've used a lot more space I'll go 64gb again.

Let's face it. Nothing data wise (apps, pics videos etc) is getting smaller.

I just hope Apple into 32gb base model then I'll not have to worry about it.

Very happy with my 64g. I would have bumped up against 16g rather quickly, and I don't need 128g. Will probably go with 64g when I upgrade next year.

I got the 128Gb. I always prefer to be overly prepared than not.
Seems like whenever I opt for size, I never come close to using it. However, whenever I decide to go smaller, I'm always on the brink of running out of space.
