iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air pre-orders began at 5 a.m. Pacific Time in the U.S. and many other countries today. If you have yet to place a pre-order, you might face a longer wait now, depending on your desired configuration.

As of shortly after 6 a.m. Pacific Time today, nearly all iPhone 17 Pro Max configurations on Apple's online store in the U.S. are facing an additional 1-3 week shipping delay beyond the Friday, September 19 launch day. This means that some configurations are now expected to be delivered in mid-October. However, for a few configurations, in-store pickup on launch day is still an option at select Apple Store locations.

The all-new, ultra-thin iPhone Air is faring much better, with most configurations still available for September 19 delivery as of the time of writing.

The smaller iPhone 17 Pro and the standard iPhone 17 are also not facing considerable delays.

Inventory will likely continue to tighten for both delivery and Apple Store pickup as the day progresses, so order quickly if you are planning to.

What are you talking about? The Air was literally 9/25 at the start of pre-orders.
I…see the 19th right now on the site?

Anyhow.

I feel like 'faring better' is interesting phrasing here since it actually means that demand was probably overestimated.

It's not accurate. Not when you actually try to order it. No one has gotten an actual 9/19 shipping date for the Air, it seems like it was bumped to 9/25 from the start.

I was able to order two Pro Max’s in blue 10 minutes ago for launch day delivery. However doing carrier specific phones it seems pushed it back. That’s why I always buy unlocked

I had the same problem with the Pro (Orange). At 503 AM PT the store let me in and it immediately said shipping to arrive 9/25. But I could pick up in-store on 9/19. So I'll end up picking up in store on the 19th. Works out better that way anyways to be honest - UPS/Fedex always ends up delivering the new phone at like 3 or 4 or 5 PM on launch day anyways. I'll have it earlier in the day this way. I'm just not looking forward to having to swap my phone in the store and have it take an hour or two. (do they have USB-C cables that can connect the two phones to make the transfer faster?)

I just ordered 17 PM and it's available for in store pickup all over the city on 19th.
I ordered a 17 Pro 5 minutes ago and my in store pick up was 20th. Mall of America was still the 19th but I don’t go there unless I absolutely have to. 😂

I ordered my 512GB 17 Pro in Blue at 8:02 EST and it said 9/19 but the receipt said 9/25. I'm hoping this is just an error and the shipping date will move to 9/19 in a day or two. I vaguely remember this happening in the past and it ended up arriving on day 1, but it's all very weird.

There is no need to wait in store. I’ve always declined to have them prepare the phones for me. I take the new ones and go home.
