Okay, I understand your frustration. Sorry about the mishap, good luck with ATT lol, they are kinda ******, you should have got it from apple that early. I only ordered from att because apple was saying 2 weeks when i got on at 6AM EST

OP, this GIF is incomplete. There are 14 more frames missing. I'll google the complete one and post it here. It's hilarious.

The only reason I ordered from AT&T is because I couldn't get the Apple store to work at midnight. I later found out I had to use a different browser other than Chrome (guess it had something to do with the cookies or something).

In the confirmation email I got from AT&T it did say it would be delivered on the 21st....we shall see.

I placed my iphone 5 pre order at 12:27 eastern standard time. My account address info was wrong since I receive paperless billing. Not wanting to have my precious iphone 5 sent to a place I no longer lived, I ordered from AT&T.

This is the part I don't understand, please clarify. I'm taking this to mean that your account billing address is different than where you actually live, so you ordered from AT&T to avoid having your phone sent to the old address.

Does this mean you changed your account billing address before placing the order? If that's the case, the website clearly stated that it would take up to 48 hours to process this change in address...

This is 100% the fault of AT&T being a terrible poorly managed company.

That is unfair, and false advertising.

AT&T broke their promise. They are a pos company. End of story.

I'd be frustrated and upset and a little angry too, but you really need to chill out. What "promise" did they break? You pre-ordered a phone when the website clearly said that it could ship out as early as the 21st. Guess what? It probably won't. But they never guaranteed that it would.

I got one even better: having been a Verizon customer for 10+ years, I asked them to give me free internet, cell phone, and home phone service for the rest of my life. They denied. What a POS company.

My credit card has a zero balance and a $60,000 credit limit.

totally relevant.

Tens of thousands - heck possibly hundreds of thousands - of people, myself included, who ordered directly from Apple within the first hour, just like you, were also shown a 9/21 delivery date to then have the date suddenly change to 10/5 and later immediately after submitting. Does that make Apple a pos company that deserves to "die" too?

If you ordered as soon as the sites went live then you may remember that AT&T's site gave the option of modifying your shipping address. Apples site would temporarily only allow phones to be shipped to your phone providers billing address.

I have had paperless billing for years. My AT&T billing address is from a home I lived in during college, that has since been torn down to make way for a new development.

Not wanting to risk having my phone shipped to a parking lot, I opted to go with AT&T.

Hind site being 20/20 I should have just gone through apple, and hoped to get through in time to change the shipping address but it was not a risk I was willing to take at the time.

Atts guarantee of launch day delivery swayed me from my first instinct of ordering through apple.

Call me bitter but if you were in my(and many the other people who ordered from AT&T) shoes you would feel the same way.

I'm sure if you are an avid enough apple fan to take time out of your day to come to this website then you understand. Waiting around for 21 business days without a iPhone 5, while all of your friends have theirs is bs, and tantamount to torture. The Internet will be nothing but people lauding there new iPhone 5 while you wait by the mailbox for AT&T to get their act together.

Even the most patient person would have at least a little animosity, and resentment towards AT&T. I never claimed to be patient though.

Childish? Spilt milk? First world problem? Maybe but it just kills me that they didn't process chronologically.

Had I lackadaisically logged on in the morning and then had to wait I wouldn't care. However I cancelled plans. Set up a command center with my iPad phone and MacBook. Then tryed frantically to get in. Got through with AT&T.com and went to bed satisfied that my phone was in the mail.

What an unintelligent thing to say.

Actually it is quite intelligent.

It is just a freaken phone. I for once did not upgrade at the first chance of getting a new apple product and real quite liberated. It is so sad when we get this pissed ver something as BS of a freaken phone. I for one have better things to do.

I know it's fashionable to blame everything on AT&T, but your account must be in order first. Even if you think everything is fine, if you have not performed a verification prior to pre-ordering you are exposing yourself to problems.

For four years in a row I have received my AT&T iPhone on release day or the day before at 9:40 am to 9:50am via FedEx. It's the best service ever.

My brother orders via Apple and has to wait all day... That's nothing against Apple, It's UPS vs FedEx and where you are on the route. I use Apple for everything else. A minimum of once a year I order the latest BTO MBP, MBA etc and always receive stellar service.

It's all about the buyer being organized, verifying that there are no billing or credit card issues _before_ attempting to pre-order.

Neither Apple or AT&T can accept or process an order for a customer with account, or payment issues.

Just one more example of someone not wanting to take responsibility for their own issues! I'll bet I know who he will vote for.

It's not A phone - it's THE phone. Plus it's not like we haven't been teased with rumors and waited long enough. I wish Verizon had simultaneous voice and data but I switched anyway. AT&T has taken the iPhone user base for granted and we need to show them it's not exclusive anymore.

Why did you not UPDATE your address when you moved???

It must have been a mistake that they soon corrected. This also might have caused your processing delay.

When I hopped on, the site warned me that the phone would be shipped to the account billing address. In my case, that would be my home address in MA. I'll be on the west coast until Thanksgiving, so that wasn't an option for me, but I did order a phone for my dad and brother (which went through on the 14th, still waiting for shipping confirmation).

I also waited on the phone for an AT&T rep for over an hour to be told that their system was down, so they couldn't process an order, nevermind change a shipping address. Was I frustrated? Maybe a little. Mad? Not really, I understand the ridiculous stresses these systems must go under on pre-order openings.

So I couldn't pre-order a launch day iPhone. Do I want to camp out for it? Not really. Do I really want to have it on launch day? Of course. So I'm just going to suck it up and sleep outside for a night. Big deal.

Thank God I chose Verizon. The night before preorder was driving me crazy debating which carrier to go to, AT&T or Verizon. I'm coming from T-Mobile, I made the right choice indeed.

To debase something by putting the adverb "just" in front of it is the lowest form of justification. It explains nothing about why you shouldn't regard it as highly as you do and is thus used by the academically-uninclined. The phone is something people have with them at all times. It's how they keep up to date with current events, pop culture, and social networking. It's how they keep in contact with the rest of the world. To say its "just a phone" is uninformed, falsely supercilious, and weak.

Any one know how to alert the blogesphere (engadget, gizmodo, mac rumors)about this? Judging from the massive response in the ATT preorder sticky, it is not anecdotal evidence anymore. ATT did not go consecutively at all. Many of those who ordered, at 3:05 am are not getting their phones, meanwhile many who ordered hours, or days later will be receiving new phones tomorrow.

That is unacceptable in my opinion.:(

This is BS. We need to get the word out so that others won't be suckered into the crapshoot of ordering from ATT in the future.

As to those trying to deflect any blame of this on me. My credit card has a zero balance and a $60,000 credit limit. My AT&T account is on auto pay and I was out of contract. I checked my upgradability through both apple's, and AT&T's sites.
$60,000 credit limit on one card? Holy ****

You must have a high 6 figure job and impeccable credit. The highest I've seen personally on a single card was $25k

I specifically ordered online to avoid the hoards of anxious, unwashed, launch day people. Some people relish the shared retail experience. I hate it.

God I wish Verizon could do data and voice simultaneously. I thought this was the year I could escape ATT, and their underdelivering, customer last ways.

Is it that hard to just put the preorders in chronological order?

May I ask when, where and how long you need to talk on the phone while also surfing the web?

This is some of the biggest crybaby BS I've read in quite some time. Maybe one day when you have a wife and kids (and if you already do, may God have mercy on them) you'll have some grasp on reality and what's truly important in life.

May I ask when, where and how long you need to talk on the phone while also surfing the web?

I can think of 100 different instances where one would be convenienced to be able to use voice and data at the same time.

Length really doesn't matter if you are looking something up on the spot.
