I can think of 100 different instances where one would be convenienced to be able to use voice and data at the same time.

Length really doesn't matter if you are looking something up on the spot.

Thanks for those helpful examples. Please enjoy AT&T. I was asking the OP, not a fan boy.

Unfortunately with 2 million orders there is bound to be errors.
Thank goodness I've never had a problem. Over the years I've pre-ordered thru apple, AT&T, in person and this year Verizon.
Hands down this year was the easiest. So easy I was almost concerned!
Can't believe they are into mid to late oct now, I would be bummed (even tho it's just a phone) lol
Personally if I didn't get through I would be at bestbuy or walmarts doorstep tonight.

I don't understand all the people who want to add insult to injury and tell the OP that his account should have been in order, call him a liar, tell him to relax, etc., etc. I can at least sympathize and feel the man's pain... Good luck getting it straightened out. Persevere and brave the crowds tomorrow if you really want one at launch... It sucks but I had to do it before when AT&T pushed back my ip4 preorder by a few weeks.

To say ATT screwed up is an understatement. They freakin butchered orders this year. I placed my order at 3:15CST and as i'm writing this now, have yet to receive an order confirmation email, not one.

If it wasn't for me calling the next morning to check up on things, I probably wouldn't see my iPhone for another few weeks since apparantly I had to call in and do a "deposit/identity check" since my 9 years of service and good credit isn't good enough for them. The thing that irks me though is that I wasn't told about this check until I called in.

It just boggles my mind how unprofessional and sloppy this whole launch was with ATT. I really cannot fathom it getting any worse. In any event though, I digress and lesson learned.

To debase something by putting the adverb "just" in front of it is the lowest form of justification. It explains nothing about why you shouldn't regard it as highly as you do and is thus used by the academically-uninclined. The phone is something people have with them at all times. It's how they keep up to date with current events, pop culture, and social networking. It's how they keep in contact with the rest of the world. To say its "just a phone" is uninformed, falsely supercilious, and weak.

to subject yourself to unnecessary grief for an inanimate object that can be obtained at ANY point is pretty unintelligent, imho. You sound like a 16 year old girl with a false sense of entitlement.

but maybe you're right, the iPhone isnt a just a phone

Ran into the same issue, apple was making me ship it to my billing address and I wanted it shipped to my office. Hopped on at&t, changed the billing address, and immediately went back to apple.com. The billing address updated instantly and boom there it was. Phone shipped to my office.
