Different versions of Keka - why?

Current stable release of Keka (file archive utility) is 1.0.12

Official Website - http://www.kekaosx.com/en/ offers latest/stable version for free.

On other hand, at Mac App Store - https://itunes.apple.com/app/keka/id470158793, same thing is charged at 1.99 USD

Why so?

Just the developer himself can answer your question!
My guess:
1.) There are some yearly expenses for a developer charged by Apple to publish on the MAS
2.) One gets a 'highly' trusted app directly from the MAS that is reviewed by Apple and easy to install

App Store Version is a way to tip the developer. That’s why they are offering it there.
