Android = BEST notification system in any phone OS, a million times better than the iPhone's obtrusive notifications.

Thanks for sharing, OP.

Well said! Out off all operating systems IOS is the worst when it comes to notifications. Obstructive and intrusive is the best way to describe it. It would be so cool if it had background notifications. It amazes me why Apple hasn't addressed this issue yet. Again this is another aspect why IOS/iPhone is still behind the competition.

i didn't buy the DX because it was a Droid X. I bought it because the Droid X was on Verizon. I'm a very loyal Verizon customer, and had it not been for the DX, I would have probably gone for a different android based phone.

Had I not owned iPhone myself, I probably would have waited for the new iPhone coming to Verizon next year. However, I didn't see the need for that. Android OS perfectly fits my needs. (navigation, voice search, swype, etc)

I'm a regular macrumor user, just wanted to post some pics of what Android based handsets are up to these days.

I will never, ever, leave Verizon unless their network quality is degraded. I have had only good experience with Verizon and its strong network across the U.S.

iPhones current OS is a rehashed/retweaked version dating back to 2007 making it ancient compared to Android

The current Mac OS X is a rehashed/retweaked version dating back to 2001 making it ancient compared to Windows 7

Ive never understood how anyone can find the Droid X attractive. I remember when they revealed it, I thought there would be thunderous laughter and disgust. I was completely blown away when some people actually claimed to like the way it looked. I still think its a huge ugly monstrosity.

It's funny, these droid phones keep getting faster and faster processors, but none of them have ever been able to scroll webpages as smooth as an original iPhone. Sad. Swipe your finger across the X's screen, and maybe 1 second later it'll recognize the motion and switch pages.

But yeah, iOS needs a makeover, as well as better notifications. The guy who designed webOS notifications should be making that happen as we speak.

Degraded? Who cares, it's inferior. AT&T has the fastest 3G network in America and that's a fact.

Took some shots of Motorola's Droid X. I love the build quality and its look and feel. Went from a Blackberry Storm to DX.

Cool story bro.

Today, I came home to find a BMW partially blocking my driveway. I was already having a bad day, and was upset that some stuck up fool blocked my driveway, so I keyed the driver's side. 5 minutes later my parents show up. The BMW was a graduation gift for me. FML

LOL no way. You need to head over to E90post.com forums and repeat that story there lmao!

edit: btw, what model BMW did you get?

Ryeno, I think you need to recheck your facts. AT&T 3G coverage is not as widespread as Verizon's. This is an implicit fact that can be repeated from all the major tech publications indicating that Verizon has the most thorough 3G network.

Whats the point of having the 'fastest 3G network' when coverage isn't as widespread? its a moot point. I will always choose Carrier over xx phone. Period.

Why was AT&T up and arms over Verizon's campaign ad last year and threatened to sue? Because their ads were effective and speaking to the crowd of unhappy AT&T subscribers who have had bad experience with their network. AT&T has made gains in resolving bandwidth issue, but lets not kid ourselves here, Verizon is the most stable, big business backed Carrier compared to that of its competitors.

Did you really need to quote all those images? :(

I'm sorry that AT&T doesn't have 3G service in the middle of nowhere, fly over states. You know, places where I DON'T live in.

But where I DO live, AT&T has the fastest 3G service.

Yeah, thats just you. The objective of a carrier is to give coverage to as many potential paying customers as they can. I think Verizon handily beats AT&T in this regard.

Except if you are in an area that has both AT&T and Verizon 3G coverage, you know the situation most americans are in, AT&T gives you faster service. Verizon = Fail.

That's cool tho, you get service in the middle of nowhere place that you will never be in and I get faster service where I actually am.

I completely agree with you. But that's not to say I won't use ATT's service because someone, somewhere isn't getting great reception.

Do you think most americans care the miniscule difference in speed between Verizon and AT&T? In terms of real world practicality, the difference is negligible.

I'd rather be on a network where 3G/2G connection is stable, not spotty, like that on AT&T.

I'd rather be on a network where I do not get as many dropped calls as on AT&T. After all, you buy a phone to... guess what.. make phone calls.

I think the iP4 is great, fragile, but I can't see myself going on AT&T's network whose data is clogged up by millions of iPhone tweensters gobbling up data like no other.

What is "true actual multitasking"?

Easy, multitasking in that programs don't have to be coded for it. Not needing certain APIs and all processes can actually be run in the background.

What apple implemented with some exception is just a task switcher.

New hardware same old stale IOS

The current Mac OS X is a rehashed/retweaked version dating back to 2001 making it ancient compared to Windows 7

And to complete the chain, Windows 7 is a rehashed/retweaked version dating back to 1995.

JD, the point about "same old Android" Gathom was making wasn't to do with which OS had changed more from its inception, but that it was a bad interface at its inception, and he still feels that it is now. The amount of change was not the relevant point; it was the failure to go in an upward direction, in Gathom's esteem.

Actually no. Apple implemented "true, actual multitasking" for specific apps that take advantage of it, *as well as* a task switcher, just like Android has. The difference is that the default position for apps on iOS is to NOT multitask. You can debate the wisdom of that decision if you will (as those who choose to use Backgrounder do), but the iPhone has multitasking.

I think I'm too used to the glass and metal make up of the iP4, whenever I pick up other phones I'm often surprised and kind've grossed out by the cheap plastic feel.

And that screen looks kind've disappointing. I've been spoiled by the Retina display :-/
