Concept is what we wanted, icon is what we get.
I think they are keeping around the existing models at the current price points. They may even refresh the existing models with some minor spec bumps. This new model is an opportunity to introduce a higher price point, just as was done with iPad Pros, and the iPhones, and reportedly the AirPods Pro.
Yeah but now I don’t know whether to buy this or wait for the ARM macs next year 
. The new Mac Pro is intel of course so they’ll be supported for a long time, but looking at my iPad Pro crush 6k video rendering the way it does, a fanless ARM mac is too appealing . Plus no intel markup...

Probably vega16 baseline. I dont see them stuffing 555x in this.

Apple has owned Beats for many years and there has been no OS integration in a visual sense. You’re basically using your predication, to back up your predication.
A lot rides on the new keyboard. A physical escape key would signal a return to sanity.
I believe last year they were sent a week before the event. If there WILL be an event, invites will go out today or tomorrow.
Guaranteed it starts at an absurd price that is not worth it. We Mac lovers now have to pay a premium to get a nice keyboard again.
I think it will cost 3299 for the i7 and 3599 for the i9. Configured with vega, 4000+
1) ‘Guaranteed’ - you have no way guaranteeing this
2) ‘absurd’ - this is subjective.

This would be a smaller event, and I think Apple has form for sending invitations out for these with about a week's notice (or less) when doing a second one in October.
Still no touchscreen... what a waste. I haven't purchased a new machine in over 4 years because I've been so uninterested in the updates they have done. The touchbar is still a silly gimmick for what I do, and is an annoyance to my colleagues. I primarily use my computer for drafting and graphics for work, and the only reason I need to buy a new one is that I can not upgrade my current machine. Apple is becoming such a disappointment as a professional machine.
