This is the rumor mill churning just like fall of last year claiming a new pro was coming

It's a slow week and they can only just spin false hoods. I'm not upgrading from the 2018 models to one now. It's still incredibly fast and doesn't break a sweat as it is. And with production an issue, that would be un wise.

Speaking of 5G, they are springing up everywhere in my town every 1/4 mile or more. And since there is two carriers installing them they placing them on sides of poles or on top with power boxes in the ground.
You thought cell towers are ugly, now we have even more junk on poles.

This rumor seems dubious. I could see a refresh in March with 5G added the following year--or the total refresh with 5G happening in September.

I'm not sure 5G is worth waiting for on an iPad for me so if this rumor really is true I'll just pick one up in March if its refreshed then. 5G is much more important on an iPhone anyway.

^^^^I keep my iPads for 3-4 years so having 5g would be of interest even if the actual usage would be limited.

The iPad Pro is "the tablet" to have, so I don't see Apple giving up their lead by waiting until fall 2020 (24 months) to update it again at risk of losing that title.

Similar to what others have said in this thread, Apple has previously released an iPad in the spring and then again in fall of the same year. They also have never gone more than 18 months (less, actually) without updating the iPad Pro, so I think we'll see one in March (maybe it will have 5G?) and possibly another update in the fall, or they may even wait until spring making it 12 months between release.

Apple needs to focus on Testing the A14/A14X BEFORE Release, & in particular, the chip's Performance Controller (i.e., cpu scheduler), so that App Devs with High Perf apps don't find chip bugs AFTER Release !

Tim Cook do you hear me ???

They’ve done that exactly once and it was because the first iPad with a Retina display offered little performance improvement over the iPad 2 and to slap a Lightning port on it. Bam, a new “new iPad.”

You’re also trying to establish a pattern based on 3 generations of iPad Pros (including the first). I’d exercise caution with that. They’ll certainly survive if they wait until fall; the A12X is certainly not struggling by any measure, and the current iPad Pros remain superb tablets.

Maybe no March event at all. Just press release of the "SE 2" and Mac / AirTags releases at WWDC 2020.
It makes very little sense to announce the tags at WWDC, even as a demonstration for what can be done with UWB. Developers already know what can be done with it; they just need an API.

I don't want to believe to this rumours. Personally, I would buy the Ipad with WiFi only and I also think that 5G is too early for many countries at the moment. Come on Apple, give us an IPP with a CPU and Ram update in March.

I was figuring if we got a March update that maybe we would get an A13X and then skip the A14X in another 18 month release. But if there are strong rumors that the A14X is happening then it seems likely we will skip the A13X, so if we did get an update in March it would be without a processor bump which would be odd. There are also rumors of a new Apple TV which I imagine an A14X would be really killer in it and probably support AV1, though it's possible they are trying to make a lower cost model to replace the 1080p model in which case it'd probably be the A12.

Though then there is also the iPad Air line and there is a question of where you want to slot those in, if they update them without updating the Pro at all they might be too close for comfort, though it's possible they also hold those off until September and then put an A13/A14 in them. It'd probably make a lot of sense to have A12 entry iPad, A14 Air, A14X Pro as the lineup for the iPads.

Now that the iPad has mouse support, Apple should use this opportunity to release the next gen iPad Pro with a proper keyboard and built in track pad.

Alright people, you don't really think this right? You actually think that Apple will add a trackpad to the iPad? First of all, it wouldn't work with the current layout of the Smart Keyboard Folio, but I'm sure Apple could work around that. The chance of them adding a trackpad is increeeeeedibly unlikely. It's just not something Apple would do.

This makes zero sense. Another rumour pointed out potential delay of Iphone 12 because of Corona. Now, I seriously doubt that Apple would have the facility to provide enough A14 chips + A14X in fall.
Also, since when Apple was able to release A & AX at the same time frame? Usually they are at least 5 months off so either we get A13X this march or iPad will have to wait for A14X march 2021 which would be a big stretch
