Lots of replies, read a fair bit of replies and didn’t see anyone mention this....is a small body iphone 12 really feasible with the SE launched this year? What will be the price point of this small 12? For it not to cannibalize sales of the SE it’ll probably be $549.00 starting soooo does this mean that iPhone prices are set again to rise for the other mainstream models? Pricing strategy is gonna be key here and competition is still. Lots of die hard Apple fans are dipping their toes all around or hanging on to their devices for longer periods.

Well.... I've been operating with potentially incorrect sizing information. I thought the 12 6.1" would be the same size as the 12.

I went back to a particular thread and saw this:

It helps me not think that 6.1" 12 is trash.... so I'm willing to concede that the 6.1" 12 might sell better than the 5.4".... But I'm still firmly on the side of the 5.4" selling more in the long run (and especially if the 5.4" sells at the exact same day as 6.1").

$699 is the magic price these days for consumers. We were conditioned for $650 every year for the newest phone, then blindsided with the XR at $750, and then the 11 crushed it at $699 (two cameras, newest chip).

If the 5.4" is $699, it's going to be hard to justify that in the minds of regular consumers (smaller screen, same price as last years 11), but it MIGHT encourage an upsell to $799 6.1" 12. (I don't think so, though.)

This scenario hits a little differently if the 5.4" is $650, and the 6.1" is $750. I think the upsell will be a lot more successful (Those with the XR will see the same price they paid two years ago and think "yep! I want that new design").

Plot Twist: The 5.4" is $599

Annnnnnnnnd, Go! (Throw me some more dislikes 😂 )

That's an interesting detail that was also lost on me. I couldn't understand who would buy the 12 6.1" -- either you want the 5.4" for size, or you're going to opt for the 6.1" Pro for the better hardware. I can't see the point of an "in between" option. If the sizes are actually 5.4", 6.1", 6.3" Pro, and 6.7" Pro; the distinction somewhat makes sense.

That being said, I'm disappointed that, like the 6S+ and 7+, we'll have to opt for a larger phone for the good camera.

Maybe I read your post wrong, but the 6.1" 12 and pro will be same size. Their shouldn't be a difference in the two 6.1" sizes of 12.

And yes I agree that having to get a bigger phone for best camera has always been very annoying.

Oh, I see. I misread your last post. There's a 6.1" iPhone 11 that's actually smaller than the expected iPhone 12.

Well, then I retract what I said before. I don't see the point of a 6.1" iPhone 12 when there will be a same-size 6.1" iPhone 12 Pro.

Haha, no, just to clarify:

the 6.1" 12 (Pro and non-pro) is smaller than the 6.1" 11 (non-pro)... according to the picture.
But yes, I agree, there is no point to a 6.1" non-pro.

I don’t know why people believe there will be 4 iPhone models when all evidence points towards 3 models:
“5.4 iPhone mini with 2 lenses
“6.1 iPhone with 3 lenses
“6.7 iPhone Pro with LIDAR & mmWave
You believe Apple are going to just release a single small device to satisfy their biggest market? They’ve spent the last 2 years getting the mainstream market used to larger devices with the XR/11 and now you think they’ll just release a smaller handset? Not likely. People aren’t suddenly going to pay £300-400 more just to have the only 6.1” option and it would be nonsensical of Apple to pull that.

I’ve been waiting for a 7” iPhone for years now, guess you can’t have everything you want hey. 🥺😂

Well I can finally have the 5.4” soon lol. It’s the sweet spot for me. Smaller than iphone 8 but with a much bigger screen.
