I loved the 6502 code. Actually, maybe I thought it sucked or it was ridiculous.

Apple continues to act more like Microsoft every day. If something doesn't work out soon enough,
Do you know the details to its cancellation? Do you know how much money was poured into the project?

I think you're making some huge assumptions stating that Apple turned into MS because of one project that was cancelled without knowing any of the details.

We don’t know that anything was cancelled. DigiTimes is not reliable.

That’s what I heard too. DigiTimes is a reliable source too. Hmmm, tRagic. Probably due to Ive leaving. Apple is failing so hard recently... what an in comp etent comp any. Tim be failin’ and Steve be rollin’
Are you joking? DigiTimes is not reliable at all.

Apple, before you start making new products that no one needs, you have to learn how to make the ones that people do need: computers. Just start with simple things, you know, like keyboards.

Considering this rumor is coming from Ming-Chi Kuo and his contacts are almost exclusively within the supply chain, the more likely "truth" is that Apple has terminated production contracts that they might have had in place to produce these devices.
Isn’t this rumor coming from DigiTimes which has a horrible track record?

I am not surprised if this is true. AR glasses have not yet proved to be very useful in the consumer space.
Does not mean they will stop doing research.

That's my point, we have one member basically stating the sky is falling, and we have zero information, its all speculation and rumors. Additionally if it was cancelled we don't know the reasoning behind it. Maybe they poured millions into it and felt that they would not recoup the costs, or poured millions into it and still have significant hurdles to over come - we really don't know.

Just more hubris from Apple making bad choices in past. Apple panics and reacts. Let’s invest in doing a car. Let’s do glasses. Anything to please the analysts that were doing something with this cash pumped by the iPhones.

Down the road these services there’re launching will meet the same fate.

Great, they just keep on killing any sort of fun and innovative R&D project, let's stick to News+ and watch bands.

Likely the same problems as Google Glass. Looks stupid, doesn’t solve a problem, too slow, tech isn’t there.

Maybe in the future.

If true, I credit Apple for knowing something isn’t ready.

Just like wireless charging, right?

But better than another announcement which is then cancelled.

Glasses that can record video - creepy! Maybe in the future that'll be okay, but not yet.
They already have cheap glasses that can record video. This is nothing new. It's the AR aspect and potential for an on-glass display that set these hypothetical glasses apart.

Hmmmm, let me think about this....How many people with iPhones do I see out in public. A bunch. How many people do I see wearing AR glasses. None. How big of a market could it have. Not much. Cancel that project and work on money making projects!

Sounds like BS Clickbait nonsense. Oh sure, apple is going to just abandoned years of research and clearly development into AR that they make every year for no real reason..... No, you know what this most likely is....Digitimes needs a clickbait headline, and just makes stuff up for clicks and views...

At the worst its delayed.

This currently is being developed, is happening and will be happening in China, because in China there is no ... [censored because no social critique and political topics allowed on Macrumors forums]

If true, then Apple really has lost its mojo of releasing breakthrough hardware. Now, it seems, again if this rumor is correct, Apple has become just another big corporation. That special bit of innovation, due to the regular cadence of releasing innovative hardware, especially prevalent during Jobs' tenure, seems to all have vanished.

Even their latest MBP seems cold with no personality. Whereas in the MBP of yonder, it had a character: the LED on the front of the chassis used to pulsate rhythmically when the laptop was asleep, the Apple Logo lit up when the computer was on, the MagSafe connector was so innovative - no other manufacturer could release a charging port like it, ever.

Now, the MBP laptops are just like any other laptop. They are worse - worse keyboard, no status LED to tell you the state of the computer. Hell, they even removed the ability for the computer to go to sleep, when the computer is at idle! Insane!

Sorry to derail this rant onto the MBP, but I believe that this latest rumor points to Apple slowly morphing into just another corporation. It is not that special anymore, and it is only following industry trends, rather than creating them...MBP is just one example.

iPhone updates aren't really coming until 2020, AR glasses canned, Ives leaving. It's not that we know, exactly, but sometimes where there's smoke there is fire. So to speak.

I'm not a huge fan of AR, I know Apple is all into it but I've not used it once except some demos. Looks "cool" but pointless at the same time
