A service like Sling, Hulu Live, or DTVN is about the least expensive way to get live sports on the main ESPN channels or ESPN3 these days.

You cannot get ESPN3 on DTVN right now. They stopped carrying it in the middle of college football season!!! I hope they get that contract dispute figured out before Ohio State Football comes back on TV.

Exact same thing save for the change date. Mine is changing effectively 04/18/19. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the change date at which point you have to start paying the $10/month price hike, has so many different dates, for different people. I have been with DTVN since literally day one, so maybe that is why I get until October before I have to pay the $10/month price hike.

Looks like their backend billing system has settled down.

So I go to cancel tonight, I have the $40 a month live a little plan. I get a pop up offer to save $10 a month for the next 3 months, lol. (Cancel at anytime). I figured I'd take it, and just cancel June 1st.

I’ve been with DTVN since the beginning and was a beta tester for the DVR service, and my rate changes in May.

I was a beta tester as well, and I doubt that has anything to do with when you have to start paying the $10/month. I am just as confused as you are, and everybody else. I was with them since literally day one, the first day you could sign up and I have until 9/11, which means, unless they move my normal billing date (10th) a day forward, I will not have to pay the $10/month increase until October. I am certainly not complaining about that!

It is almost like they are doing this completely random! What else would make sense? I thought maybe people with AT&T Wireless service would maybe get a longer time to not have to pay the $10/month increase vs. others who use other wireless service providers. Does not make much sense, but it came to my head.

Someone that signed up the same day as I did, he has to start paying the $10/month next month (April) while I have all Summer and part of Fall. It must be random, it is the only thing I can think of that actually makes sense!

I'm a long time DirecTV Now subscriber who canceled today. I signed up for a 7-day free trial with Philo. The channels all seem to start streaming a lot faster than DTVN. You'll find HGTV and three (3) Hallmark Channels on Philo. And it's only $16-$20/month? Win! As for TCM, and a couple news channels I'll be missing, I found I can AirPlay/mirror from USTV247 or USTVGO for free and with very good/excellent quality.
I will look at Philo. I get $15 credit for my cell phone account with AT&T, but Philo and losing the $15 is STILL cheaper.

Just started YouTube TV trial to test before I cancel DTVN. Wow! So far, very impressed. Has all the main sport and news channels I'd want to watch and DVR is 100x better at $40/month. No way I'm staying with DirectV Now...they're going to regret this. If anyone just checks out the competition to evaluate alternatives will see how far behind DirectV Now is.

I checked out the competition and didn't find any service that had all the channels of interest to me. Go Big is still the most comprehensive, complain as we do about the $10 price increase. YouTube initially seemed the most promising, but is missing favorites Go Big has. So even though I dislike the $10 price increase, staying as an early adopter.

The reason I got DTVN was to get out of paying the exorbitant prices for satellite when all I mainly watch are the regional sports channels plus a few others. It was costing me $55 a month for DTVN and I had nearly just as many channels as I did on satellite. With the $5 price increase last year I was fine but going up another $10 they can blow it out their behind. I may as well go back to satellite service. Seeing the cost of the new packages and what is offered I couldn't believe it. I cancelled my DTVN subscription this morning.

I signed up for Sling on a trial basis last week but their service kept cutting in and out with a black screen or buffering. They had a lot of channels including the regional sports for $25a month. Too bad it sucked for me.
I'm now in a trial with Hulu Live and will be keeping them for $45 a month. Their service so far has been great. I also have Prime and Netflix through T-Mobile, which costs me nothing.

By the way, I read this morning that Viacom is pulling out of DTVN.

Yep have to like setting recordings and never worry about space. Dvr on dtv always needed to erase to gain space.

It’s really sad Apple couldn’t do their version a long time ago. I would’ve hoped they’d stick for better sound at least. This is what I would’ve gladly paid Apple for. Not a Netflix wannabe. Then again I could see Apple charging for tiers of storage for dvr.

How big is that rock you've been under?
Sorry, I should have mentioned that was sarcasm.

While DirecTV Now is average/poor - not great, not horrendous. Just a C grade. Raising prices on a average or poor product isn't a good idea when there is plenty of competition.

I am going to check out PS Vue, Youtube TV etc (not Sling though given their lack of objective news) later today and compare for the next few weeks. I'll keep the better one or just not have any of them. At an unchanged price, inertia would've kept me going at least until May or June.

The best part about DTVN is that *if* you are an AT&T subscriber, streaming doesn't use bandwidth.

DirecTV is a satellite provider of TV channels (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirecTV ). I suspect you meant DirecTV Now though, and it is a streaming service (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirecTV_Now)
