Confusion here. That date is when the $10 increase occurs, not when the early adopter promo ends. The $10 increase date varies based on different billing dates for everyone, which is based on the date people originally signed up. Everyone who has early adopter promos keeps them and there is no end date for that.

Maybe I am wording my posts wrong, but I am not confused (or maybe I truly am, haha) as far as the pricing goes. I understand that come October (unless they move my billing date up to 9/10), I will be paying the $10.00/month increase. What you mean by we will not be losing our early adopter promos is our current package, like for me, the "Go Big" package?

Sorry, didn't mean to say confusion for anyone. Maybe it was me confused. I was just saying that the early adopter discount contunues for those who had it, and that it's separate from the price increase that everyone will see on slightly different dates.

I'm going to say something that is unpopular. I was a DTV sat subscriber and I really just wanted that same service through Apple TV so I didn't have receiver fees and RSN fee's and an HD fee. I have my grandfathered Go Big plan but if that were still unavailable I would probably stay at the full satellite price. This was a great deal and still is and I'm kinda laughing at everyone I told about the Go Big deal in the beginning who shook their heads.

Soon everyone will be back to un cutting the cord and back to subscribing to their local cable. THEN streaming will lose business and lower their prices and people will leave cable...it’s a vicious cycle. Lol

First off, do not worry about calling me confused because I am confused on one point, and I know you addressed this in one of your posts before, but there are people who have posted that they will have to pay the $10/month more starting in May and I have seen other people post varying dates they have to start paying the price increase even though they all signed up on day one, according to them. I also signed up on day one, and my billing date is the 10th of every month, however, I am not going to have to pay the $10/month increase until October unless they move my billing date one day forward to 9/11.

Per my email:

"Go Big is yours to hang on to, even though it’s not available to new customers. However, because programming costs continue to rise, your package will be increasing $10/mo beginning 09/11/2019. As a long-time streamer and early-adopter of DIRECTV NOW, you have an exclusive deal on your Go Big package and continue to save $25/mo on access to over 100 channels."

Just strange there are such varying dates even with people who all signed up on day one.

Yes, I agree. That difference in the billing date increase between you and others is strange. I see what you're saying. I'd guess it has something to do with their billing system and maybe the date you signed up or originally got your promo.

What a joke is DTV Now.
I have DTV satellite and pay $36 a month for over 200 channels, DVR and many live sports. No commitment.
There is no way I could get this kind of price cutting the cord.
Bottomline they are desperate to keep customers. Just say you will leave and they will do anything to keep you. That's where you can get great deals.

I'm still new here, but I thought I was on an Apple Computer site. Yet, I can hardly believe what I am reading on this thread.

Are we not all a little techie here ? Don't we all have a couple old Mini Macs, or even an old XP machine just stuck away ?

Stick one these old computers on your TV and see 100x the streaming content that is all up there on the net. Why let these crooks rip you off ?

Antennas are cheap for local news, and if you live in a major city a simple indoor setup will be fine. Further away ? A Yagi, old style antenna, will get you reliable coverage @100 miles or so.

And... you get free... the satisfaction of beating these greed heads at their own game. Have fun A2

The biggest issue I have with DTVN are the constant disconnects from shows and buffering issues. These do not happen on Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, etc. Now it seems instead of addressing their network problems DTVN are going to charge me more for the privilege of being inconvenienced.

YouTube TV is now available in our area. There is a high probability I will be switching.

Log in to your DirecTVNow account and go to the place where you can cancel services. A chat window will open up with a virtual assistant. Type in, "I don't speak with robots". A real assistant will start chatting with you. Tell them that you are about to cancel your service because of the rates going up. They will offer you $10/month off for the next three months, effectively bringing the price of service to the same level you have now. This will tide you over for three more months. By then, maybe Apple will have a compelling live TV offering or, perhaps, DirecTVNow will realize that they are going to lose half of their customers and will reverse this stupid move.

It's truly unbelievable how stupid most company executives are.

LOL. I'll stick with Dish. We've had very few increases over the last 20 years and we have better equipment and features.

I read quite a few of these comments about how DTVN buffers, or disconnects all the time, however, I RARELY experience these issues. By rarely, I mean maybe twice a year? I can tell you with 100% certainty (and honesty) that I have not had one issue with DirecTV Now picture/sound/DVR in 2019. I do have 500/50 internet, but I have friends that have 60/10 internet that use DTVN and experience none of these issues. I would love to know what cause the issues for you and others (constantly it seems) but are extraordinarily rare for my friends and I?

Same here. Did you get an email about your plan going up $15 instead of $10?

View attachment 826200

No, my email said $10 a month. I honestly didn't think the service was worth keeping but it says my it wont go into effect until my 5/7/19 payment. I looked at the comparison tool they linked and their new packages are total ripoffs! Especially compared to my current package.

I cancelled DirecTV Now, Netflix and all of my newspaper subscriptions yesterday.

We haven't had cable TV for several years now. We get all of the local stations with antennas on the roof (and get image quality that is better than streaming or cable). I record shows with an over-the-air DVR made by Channel Master.

So, for us, we will now strictly rely on over-the-air TV (antennas), Hulu (my wife LOVES their selection of B&W TV shows), and our collection of more than 1,500 movies on Blu-ray/4K Blu-ray for our TV entertainment.

I only pay $40.00 for my plan because I get my HBO included with my grandfathered "Go Big" plan, including a third concurrent stream. Yes, "Go Big" was originally $35, and then with the $5 price hike, $40.00.

I do not think you have to "link" your AT&T Wireless account because I did no such thing but get the benefits. Think about it, AT&T owns DirecTV/DirecTV Now, so I am sure they can link your accounts themselves.

thanks for the confirmation. i'm confused because i know at some point (i think at the 1 year point) the free HBO went away. and then when i checked the other day it was back. also my account only shows 2 streams. i guess all this could be explained by ATT/DTVNow just having way too many configuration options in their database vs. a flag that just says "original go big customer grandfathered"

yes they should be able to link the accounts; they seem to know that my 3 accounts are related and want to merge them when i log in sometimes... but i thought the free HBO promo required an "unlimited" cellular plan, which i don't have (i have some kind of family share with bonus minutes).

I need to correct something. I actually get my third concurrent stream for free because I contacted DirecTV Now support and was complaining about how I still do not have any local channels, and how in the MIDDLE of fu**ing college football season they dropped support for ESPN 3, which is ESPN content on ABC. This really irritated me because I am a huge Ohio State college football fan, and in my area most of their games are on ABC. Luckily, since it was a little past the middle of the season, the remaining games we either on Fox or the Big10 Network. I had to watch one or two games at a friends house and then I did the Sling seven day trial (because they have ESPN 3) during Bowl Week so I could watch Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, and then some other Bowl games that were on ESPN 3. I really hope they get this deal situated with ESPN so they can offer ESPN 3 again OR get local channels where I am at so I can just watch ABC like that. Also, I know I can just get an antenna and get free locals, which is what I will do if this situation is not fixed by college football season. As of now, I pay $5.00 for CBS All-Access, just to get my local news and more importantly college football and basketball, which is extremely important this month with March Madness starting next week!

It could be a sign that local channels are coming soon now that they just added my regional sports networks last week!

I'm an early adopter w/ the Go Big package + free HBO. Plan will be $50 after I get hit on 5/7/19. In my area I do NOT get local channels. It has been my biggest point of contention with keeping DTVN prior to any of this happening.

I've been looking at getting Hulu (no ads) + Live TV. Adding in Enhanced DVR + Unlimited Screens. Price w/ tax would be $70 but splitting with my 2 brothers since we get unlimited screens.

Reading through a ton of posts this week on the other thread about the reported price increase and then the 8 pages on today's thread and I feel like everyone talks about YouTube TV, Sling & Philo with almost no mention of switching to Hulu. Any reason? Is there something I'm missing?

If they could offer (Disney-owned) ESPN and ABC for an additional $5 a month each--- THAT could be very enticing.

There is nothing on ESPN anymore - it is all talk and "analysis" that is about as good as you could get in any sports bar in the nation.

If you want to see sports on ESPN, you have to spring for ESPN+ (extra $5 per month, on top of the cost of ESPN).
