And you get to watch all of the commercials. You get to spend a full hour on a show with 18+ minutes of commercials.

No thanks.

We get no commercials. ZERO. Check it out.

I won't show you the path, but it is clearly apparent when you start digging around. The service is very big in Canada. In fact I discovered it through CBC. MSM will never speak it's name. LOL

Looks like they changed there minds. I was about to cancle but I got a message saying my plan will not go up 10 dollars.

The price hike doesn't happen until after your bill is due next month. May is when you should see an increase.

From the article: "price hike effective April 12, 2019..."

Then I will cancle after next month. Weird how it says that new customers do not get my rate of 55 dollars though.

When I took two ATV4Ks and ran, I knew there would be consequences.

Not this drastic - or suicidal!

There is nothing on ESPN anymore - it is all talk and "analysis" that is about as good as you could get in any sports bar in the nation.

If you want to see sports on ESPN, you have to spring for ESPN+ (extra $5 per month, on top of the cost of ESPN).

Before anyone disagrees with you, Monday Night Football is not sports. It’s the football equivalent of watching the other teams besides the Harlem Globetrotters play each other.

Even with the price hike I cannot exit DTVNow simply because no other provider offers the combination of HGTV, Hallmark and TCM.

I've been a DIRECTV NOW subscriber since the beginning. I've backed many of their changes. This one though? Stupid. Price goes any higher and we'll leave too. At $40/month including HBO, the price was amazing for what we got. $50 though? That puts the cost on par with regular cable service so the cost benefit simply isn't there anymore.
I think they've already done enough for you to leave. This will be just one of many price increases in the near future I believe

I'm a long time DirecTV Now subscriber who canceled today. I signed up for a 7-day free trial with Philo. The channels all seem to start streaming a lot faster than DTVN. You'll find HGTV and three (3) Hallmark Channels on Philo. And it's only $16-$20/month? Win! As for TCM, and a couple news channels I'll be missing, I found I can AirPlay/mirror from USTV247 or USTVGO for free and with very good/excellent quality.

After telling everyone this merger would result in the same or lower fees they increase fees. No one is surprised. Consolidation rarely benefits consumers.

They always do that... yet we trust them

Isn't it also a coincidence that the $15 just happens to also be the same price as their standalone Web-only streaming service

Hmm, apparently that is not true, per my email:

Hi Shawn,

Starting today, DIRECTV NOW℠ is offering new packages, PLUS and MAX. Each package has a different channel lineup than what you currently have, and both include HBO®.

Go Big is yours to hang on to, even though it’s not available to new customers. However, because programming costs continue to rise, your package will be increasing $10/mo beginning 09/11/2019. As a long-time streamer and early-adopter of DIRECTV NOW, you have an exclusive deal on your Go Big package and continue to save $25/mo on access to over 100 channels.

To see if these packages are a better fit, check out our comparison tool to help make the differences clear. If you do choose a new package, you won’t be able to get Go Big back or the discount you’re used to.

Thank you for streaming with us.

Sincerely,
Your DIRECTV NOW Team

You can change your plan and get a lot less channels for a little less money or you can do the same thing for $5 more.

Lovely.

Am I missing something?
Who is paying for tv in 2019 when you can watch anything you want whenever you want where ever you want. I understand live events but thats it...

Hilarious. Cord cutting isn't really too enticing for some people. It all adds up.

Cord cutting is almost always cheaper. You seem to be comparing average price of cable to someone who signs up for every streaming service on Earth. Someone who has Netflix and the basic DirecTV Now package pays half of what the comparable cable package costs.

Sports and other live events are about the only justification for DirecTV.

It's not really saving anyone money now. I pay 50 a month for internet, 55 for dtv now 11 for netflix.

I just looked at Xfinity and I can get 220 channels including HBO showtime tmc stars cinemax and Netflix along with 250 mb internet and free professional installation for 119 a month.

It also comes with a 100 dollar gift card

A service like Sling, Hulu Live, or DTVN is about the least expensive way to get live sports on the main ESPN channels or ESPN3 these days.

Heh. For the first year and then the price doubles. You get stuck having to call and negotiate with the worst employees ever. It does get old. I’d prefer to never have to call an att, Verizon, Comcast, ever again. I usually throw these dates in calendar. Call to cancel so and so to get more credits.

You can get these channels on Sling Blue but it will cost more than the basic package.

Sling Blue is $25 / month and includes HGTV.

To get Hallmark, you will need to purchase the lifestyle extra package for an additional $5 / month which has 3 Hallmark channels (13 additional channels).

To get TCM, you will need to purchase the hollywood extra package for an additional $5 / month which includes TCM, sundance, and two other channels.

The total for you on Sling would be $35 / month.

The available channels and listings are here.
