I can't exactly remember where I read/heard it but I think someone said it doesn't. That you can pretty much use the separate streams anywhere.

I know they say if you have mobile service with ATT your streaming through it will be free and not count against your data usage.

Thank you.

Has anyone checked into this one?

I have DTV and AT&T wireless. So, I have unlimited data on my phone with their bundling offer.

If I drop DTV for DTVnow, will I still get the unlimited data bundling?

I would totally cancel DirecTV in a heartbeat if I can still get unlimited data with DirectvNow. In the meantime, I reduced my DTV plan to the bare minimum so I can save enough money to pay for DTVNow.

Someone else may be able to provide a better/cleaner way to open via Automator, but I did this and it seems to work:
  1. Open Automator
  2. Create new Application
  3. Add Run Applescript action
  4. Enter the following in the applescript action:
    Code:
    do shell script "/Applications/Google\\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\\ Chrome --app=https://directvnow.com >/dev/null 2>&1 &"
  5. Save as application to somewhere such as your desktop.
  6. Open as you would any other application.

Disclaimer: I know not what I am doing in Automator!
Hah! Thanks for the setup anyway. I'll check it out.

I don't know the first thing about using Automator either. I just have a rough idea of what it does. Thanks!

Everyone gave up on Directvnow already huh? Lmao!!

No, if you are an early adopter you can expect that you are testing things out and run into some problems. Why do you think they offer the $60 package for $35? Out of kindness? However, most people 'demand' perfection of certain features right away or even better: yesterday. True patience for a product to develop is slowly going away unfortunately. For now I can perfectly live with the functions DTVN offers. I will stick with it and see how it develops and then make a decision.

I hope the cloud DVR happens early 2017. Having old VOD content is a no-go, but on the plus side, from what I can tell, all the channels are 1080p. This is a plus over PS Vue--all the articles I have read online say it's in 720p--is that true? No PS Vue channels in 1080p?

No they are not. NickToons, TeenNick, CSPAN 1&2, MTV Hits, Racehorse channel I think TV-G and Telemundo are in horrible 480i and look terrible.

Ha, hopefully they get their act together. The other issue i have is i only watch a few channels on Directv. Now that football regular season is winding down. I won't need ESPN. And the only other stuff i watch maybe is FX, TNT etc. And i can get most of the movies those networks play on a Netflix or Hulu service. Plus Netflix and Hulu plays all my shows. So my thing is whether Directv will provide enough content in my case to keep it beyond the 90 days. (To justify the $35 monthly)

Just received an e-mail from AT&T letting me know that the Apple TV has shipped. It's coming via FedEx and will be delivered on Wednesday. Kudos to you, AT&T! So far, streaming via a web browser on the desktop and the DirecTV Now app on iOS has been flawless. Once they add DVR capability in 2017, it looks like DirecTV Now will be a replacement for the dish and the receivers for my family.

I noticed this to. There are a handful of channels that have horrible resolution. And it displays as a tiny box within my tv. It is almost comical.

I'm having problem with local channel fox, it won't let me watch local football team on directv but it does on cable?

Guys the service is surprisingly great tonight. I changed over to an amazon fire stick, and had to drop the settings to 720p. Been watching AMC, ESPN, FX, and a few other networks. No issues at all. Only thing I don't like is the fire stick is slower pushing the directv app. But otherwise I have been pleasantly surprised.

The service is much more reliable on the Apple TV. On the FTV channels stall and take forever to load but on the ATV it is instant faster than Sling but Sling has my two most watched channels in HD something DTVNow still does not have.

Anyone want to start a thread on when they signed up? And whether they received their Apple TV yet? I would be interested to know who ordered when, and from where. This way we can update who has received their devices.

Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I signed up on opening day, so 11/30 or 12/1.

I signed up on the morning that the service came out around 6am. Nothing for me. It's odd cause some ppl who signed up after me already have shipping emails. So I figured maybe we could keep track on who is getting theirs. Like when iPhones ship out lol.

I signed up the second day and was just notified that my Fire TV Stick has shipped. My trial period is over today.

Signed up day one and my Apple TV was delivered today, just finished installing it. Now I've got a 4th gen atv in every room we have a tv, good bye cable boxes.

Still nothing for me. I wonder if they are filling orders by region? Can't be by time ordered if ppl who ordered after me are already getting theirs in the mail.

Just got off the phone with AT&T. If you are using the AT&T/DTV bundle for unlimited data, and you drop DTV for DTVnow, you will lose your bundle and be required to pick a standard data plan. That sucks.

I'm in the same boat. Netflix, Hulu, HBO NOW, Starz, Showtime and Amazon Video basically cover my fiancée and I for about 90% of what we typically watch. So I'm curious to see how Directv Now will fit in once the three month prepaid period is up.

Sports are big thing for me, but with football winding down, I won't be watching ESPN, FS1 as much. I have NHL.TV subscription for hockey and split MLB.TV with a friend during baseball season anyway.
