I’ve had Direct TV Now for a few months. I am satisfied with the service. I just wish it was available on more platforms like my Sony TV smart apps. Your service is only as good as your internet connection. I had absolutely 0 issues and i love the channel lineup for just $35. I felt like Comcast was robbing me. I upgraded my package twice and still everything i wanted to watch was on channels i didn’t have. I looked Into PSvue and learned that they don’t have all the Viacom channels that I like MTV, Bet, Vh1. They said it was to keep the prices low. I tried sling tv and still the channel line ups suck and they insist on putting a custom package together and after you add the channels you like your bill is as expensive if not more than cable.

Has anyone actually tried this sign-up promo yet? When I do, the only option I have is for the full subscription price. From what I can tell, if you go for the "free" ATV4K, you are paying $60/70 rather than $35/45 depending on the plan selected. If that's the case, then you're gonna buy two of those ATV's in your first year simply because you're paying a higher price. I tried with both options, but here is with the $45/120 channel:

I just signed up for the $35/month deal. Got sick of using the Direct TV login from a family member. Getting a free ATV 4K sealed the deal. I had HBO Now for $15/month. Now I added it to the DirecTV Now package for $5. So for $25 more a month than standalone HBO, I have 60 some channels. Plus, you can use your DirecTV credentials to sign into individual apps (NBC Sports, ESPN, etc.) so I don't have to use the DirecTV app, which sucks.

Streaming so far today has been w/out issue.

Comcast is our Internet provider - 100 MB. To me it was a steal for only 3 months prepaid and a free ATV 4K.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but it's an even better deal if you buy it by clicking through the ebates.com link. You'll get a $16 check from beats for the purchase. Ebates.com currently says it's 4 months prepaid, but when you click through the link, it brings up the page of 3 months.

If you don't have an bates account, you can just go straight to ebates.com and sign up. You could also youse my referral link (but definitely not necessary), you'll earn $10 or $15 on the first purchase, and I'll also earn $15.

You benefit by getting the latest Apple TV for $105.

Thanks! I ordered the service yesterday.

EBay has the ATV3 going for anywhere from $40 to $100. I sold my ATV3 for $60 on craigslist. So by selling, you can reduce the price of the new one to maybe $50 or less. No brainer...

I am hoping to make this a free upgrade or close to a free as I currently have 4th gen ATV not 3rd and I think 4th gen ATV sell closer to $100. Anyway, it is a win for me.

But directv sucks i have the cheaper package i think im going back to PSvue or going to give Hulu live or youtube live a shot after

Guess it all depends on what you're seeking. We've been quite happy with it.

We got DTVN (and the free ATV4K) for our lake house; it provides all the TV channels we need. Picture and stability have been just fine. ATV controls could be better, but mostly just a matter of figuring them out & getting used to them. The ATV also serves as the Homekit hub.

I signed up for the promo a month and a half ago. I selected the "Live a Little" $35/mo plan and paid for the four months service up front. $140.

From your picture it looks like you've selected the $70/mo "Gotta Have It" all-in plan?

Running through the signup process (mock), I can get to the payment screen displaying what you have above, but with a total of $105. Maybe go back and make sure you're selecting the Live a Little plan.

"The offer is limited to new DirecTV Now subscribers in the United States, but existing customers can take advantage of it by using a different email address. There's also a limit of one offer per DirecTV Now account and two per shipping address."

I'm already a DTVNow subscriber and I really want to take advantage of this deal but it turns out it is good for NEW customers only, so changing your email is not enough because your existing account is linked to your phone number and if you try to set it up, you will get an error. That's what happened to me! So, unless you have another phone number and a different email, you won't be able to get it.

For me the phone number was optional. I didn't enter one and it let me set up a new account with a new email, but under the same name and at the same address.

That would help, however, one of the reasons why I wanted to use my phone number is because I am an AT&T customer and have unlimited data which gives me $15 off the monthly charge, so I pay $20 instead of $35 and I also have HBO for life!

If anyone already has DTVNow and is considering the updated deal, creating an iCloud email alias is another option if you've run out of existing email accounts: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph2622?locale=en_US

You'll need an iCloud email address to start with, of course, but it works really well for stuff like this:)

Very good tip. Step #1 in your link says:
  1. Click the Action pop-up menu

in the sidebar, then choose Preferences.

^^ where the heck is this? I don't use iCloud mail, but poking around everywhere, I can't find an Action pop-up menu with a gear like that.
EDIT - I see it now on the bottom left corner of the iCloud browser mail page. Gotta make sure you're on full screen :)

I got in on this deal when it was 4 months, still a good deal for a free-ish Apple TV. I was already a subscriber but was able to use a different email and get a brand new account. The Apple TV was delivered in about a week.

In moving from a Roku Ultra to Apple TV, it vastly improved the DTVN service for me. I had lots of buffering issues on the Roku, couldn't change channels at the top of the hour, and often had to restart the app. On the Apple TV it's been pretty flawless, faster load, almost no buffering issues, works as advertised finally.

Now I don't think this is a case of ATV being better than the Roku, but more with the DTVN service overall. Netflix on my Roku is spot-on so it's not a box issue.

So far pretty pleased with the DTVN service. They need a DVR, their current one in beta barely works. If YouTube had the same channel lineup, I'd switch over, but they lack Food, HGTV and a few others.

Update--- It turns out that the reason why you can't use your AT&T phone number to take advantage of the $15 discount, if you have the unlimited data plan, is because you have to pay full price for the first 3 months, after that you can get the discount. And on that note, my AppleTV should arrives in 2-3 weeks!! Yeah!!

DirecTV Now has updated its Apple TV 4K deal today with an even lower price point: if you prepay for just three months of the streaming TV service for a total of about $105, you'll get the 32GB Apple TV 4K for free.
I'll just mention that this deal for the ATV 4K ran for the FIRST TIME late last year because I took advantage of it have been trialing it since before Christmas - with the new ATV 4K.

Mine also shipped. I ordered the service on 2/10 (Saturday) and it is already out for delivery via FedEx today 2/14 (Wednesday). I guess it is time to pack my old Apple TV and put it up for sale :)

I was thinking about selling my old one also that we only use in the bedroom. But I think I’m going to jailbreak it and see what fun I can have with it!

Just an FYI...you can go into the AT&T store and pick up the Apple TV on the spot. I was in and out of the store in less than 5 mins yesterday, and of course got my piece for $105.

I specifically contracted Direct TV regarding this last Friday. They said it was an online only deal, in-store was still 4x $35. Slightly annoying, I could have had it last week. Mine should be here tomorrow, but tracking isn't updating much.

Was excited when mine arrived
Was bummed when i realized ATV4K lacks optical out for my soundbar.

but hey, still a killer deal. glad i got on it

This deal is prepay three months. Last year's deal was prepay four months. Both were good deals, IMO .. but this one is $35 cheaper than the last one.

You can get an HDMI breakout box or you might have receiver that will take an HDMI input then output HDMI to TV and optical to your bar. Your TV may even do this as well, my ancient 720P HDTV from a decade ago had an optical out for any video it displayed.
