For $105, I caved. It'll replace my 1st gen Amazon Fire TV. My room already has an Nvidia Shield and there's no way I'll be replacing that anytime soon.

Also, for those with the new unlimited data plan with AT&T, you’ll get $25 off per month. Not sure if that applies with this deal (or if you could switch it over after pre-paying the 3 months) but you can get the base $35 package for $10/month.

It auto defaults to that, you need to scroll left when you are picking the plan.

I'm in a full browser on my Mac. There is no 'left' to scroll. No matter what I do, I get these sort of messages. I'm a bit confused, to be honest.

nope no where near filled up a 32gb

But directv sucks i have the cheaper package i think im going back to PSvue or going to give Hulu live or youtube live a shot after

There are downfalls of all streaming services. I tried Sling and it sucked. Switched to PSVue and it was good but the price went up. It wasn't worth the price increase. The DVR feature was nice. Hulu TV was ok but it wasn't available on the Apple TV when we tried it, so we only kept it for the trial. We got the DirectTV Now deal back in December, so this deal isn't new or any different than what they consistently do to get people to go with them. The quality of the streams is good and the picture always looks good. Very rarely does it freeze. On demand could be better but it will do for now. No DVR yet, but they say it is coming. My 3 months I prepaid for to get the Apple TV 4K is up at the end of this month. If the deal is still going at the end of the month, I will use one of my other emails and signup again and get another free Apple TV for another room. I will continue to do this until we get free Apple TV's for all the rooms we watch TV in lol.

It actually doesn't take 2-3 weeks. We had ours in 4 days. We ordered one under another email for my parents house and it came in 2 days. There are also ways around the 2 per household too.

I'm paying around $200 a month for DirecTV and have wanted to cancel for a while. I do not watch a fraction of what I'm paying for. I went to the website and it is not clear how it works. It says you can watch live tv and on demand.

1. Does it let you record live tv to the appleTV like a regular DirectV device?
2. I see that it shows you can only watch on up to 2 screens, is there any way around this?
3. I see that you can pick channels like HBO for $5 more a month, I currently have like 7 different HBO channels, though most of what is shown is garbage and I'm only interested in certain shows. Will the HBO channel that I pay for show the main shows and movies?
4. What are the other downsides of using DirectvNow vs regular satellite DirectV?

Thanks for any help.

Paying $200 a month for TV service is a joke. We had FIOS and were paying about that plus another $75 for internet. Where they get you is when you have more than 1 TV you want to watch TV on. Plus DVR and so on. Since we dropped FIOS and only have a streaming service plus HULU and Netflix, we pay $96 a month for it all and watch it on any TV since we have devices to stream on any TV. After May, when my wife and kids are out of school, we get rid of the TV and just keep HULU and Netflix. So the price goes down even more until September. It's funny they watch more TV when they have less time than they do when they are not in school and working and watch no TV.

To answer your questions...

1. As of right now, no DVR, but for $6 a month you can get HULU and watch the shows next day. There is an on demand section that has a lot of the popular shows too. AGain, not available immediately after the show airs.

2. Yes there are ways around it. If you download the apps for specific channels you want to watch, you can watch Tv on the apps while your 2 main TVS stream with the dirct tv app. Example. We have the directtv app installed in our livingroom and bedroom on appltv's. We will stream on those with the app. My kids sometimes want to watch something on their ipads at the same time. We just have them go directly to the channel app such as disney or nick or espn and they can stream.

3. Yes the HBO will play the main shows. You get 3. The main HBO channel, a family channel and then whatever is on the main channel is broadcast in spanish too. Plus there is ondemand with everything.

4. Downsides? None. Plus sides... too many to list. Except the price is WAAAAAAAAAy Less.

Did you get tracking info or a shipping notification?

If anyone already has DTVNow and is considering the updated deal, creating an iCloud email alias is another option if you've run out of existing email accounts: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph2622?locale=en_US

You'll need an iCloud email address to start with, of course, but it works really well for stuff like this:)

This reminded me that you can do something similar with gmail addresses, using periods and/or plus sign. For instance, if your email address is hello@gmail.com , any email that’s addressed to either he.ll.o@gmail.com or hello+world@gmail.com will also be delivered to your main inbox since Gmail ignores dots and anything that’s after the plus symbol in email usernames.

Great deal 105$ for 4K Apple TV ! I jumped on the deal also. I don’t really care about the streaming service, just wanted the Apple TV. I was going to buy one anyways for full pop. Then this deal came along.. awesome!

I am surprised how many people claim DTVN sucks. I've been a day 0 subscriber and the first few weeks out of the gate were a bit rough but I have had zero problems in months - I can't even remember the last time it froze and we use it everyday. (90% the app on ATV4) The picture quality is great and 100 something channels with HBO for <40 bucks, can't beat it. DVR is in the beta app and close to release and you can also (finally) use it to log in to individual channel apps (A&E etc). Couldn't pay me to go back to cable or satellite.

I think for many folks it could be your internet connections or something in the middle that's giving you trouble. Lucky enough to have Fios Gigabit here and the ATV is wired in.

Could you sign up, pre-pay, get the apple tv, then cancel for a refund of the amount you didn't watch, and keep the ATV??

Very nice, signed up for this at the last 4 month deal. Just signed up again for another ATV to replace my 2nd gen one in the kids room which has no access to YTkids and I'm tired of catching my kids watching gangsta rap on youtube, lol.

I use my iPhone remote for the Apple TV. See it in the dark, larger swipe area, works much better for my use then the physical Apple TV remote. Maybe something to try.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about the iPhone ATV app. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks.

I just signed for this, since it was a cheaper way to get another Apple TV 4K for the bedroom, and also watch the Olympics tonight.

However, despite showing NBC on the list of channels for my plan, NBC is not in fact available. So, within minutes of signing up for this service, I've already run into one instance of false advertising.

Customer service confirmed that NBC wasn't actually available. "We're working on it." They offered a $10 credit.

I don't have high hopes for this service. Oh, well, at least the AppleTV was a good deal.

that means your local NBC affiliate isn't actually owned by NBC itself. that's a qualifier they have for local channels.

They don't have my local CBS or ABC affiliates, either, yet I can see the national CBS and ABC broadcasts. NBC seems alone in not letting me see their national broadcast.

I'd like to know this also, my order summary page looked like the other's screenshots in this thread but my email order confirmation didn't mention anything at all about the free atv, although it did have a picture of one as the html background. The email confirmation just had the "Live a Little" plan for a total of $105 and no tax, nothing about the atv at all. Can anyone confirm whether your order confirmation email did or did not mention the free atv?

Having staff members create instructions on how to commit fraud seems like a quick path to major legal trouble to me, especially because your link to the deal is monetized. The offer clearly says 'New Subscribers Only'. Hope you have counsel on retainer.

NBC is different from region to region. Best thing to do to cover all your bases is hook up an antenna to your TV and pull in ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CW for free, no restrictions. You can rig up some sort of DVR to record those shows, or just get them on-demand.

Oh wow that’s lame! At least they didn’t get rid of it entirely like the $35 grandfathered discount for the $60 plan. Smh

I wonder if you can call and they’ll refund you the difference since it’s literally less than 24 hours.
