I really only need an ATV 4 for the bedroom and not the 4K. Unfortunately, the ATV 4 never went on sale for black Friday so I have yet to buy one, but this is a rather compelling offer. I think I'm going to go ahead and take advantage of it.

I'm sure the answer is no, lol, but was curious if there is any way for someone who is grandfathered in for $35 to take advantage of this deal?

I'd think you could just sign up for the service using a different email address and double-pay for 3 months. Don't even involve your current account in the transaction, just basically pay the $105 for the ATV and cancel the new account as soon as you receive the hardware. Don't think of it as double-paying for the service, think of it as buying the atv at a $74 discount.

Ah, good idea! Didn't even think of that! I'll leave my $35 account alone, & just sign up for a new one.

Thanks!

I just signed up. Hell of a deal! I have PS vue currently but I will cancel it for the three months then go back to it after the 3 months of direct tv.

Has anybody heard how long it actually takes to get the ATV in the mail? I know the article said a few weeks...

I didn't see where I could choose a cheaper package. I just went through the sign up without adding more. They must have it set at a default $50.00 package, for people like me who didn't do it correctly.
Worked for me just now with the $35 dollar package

Just be aware that the DirectTV Now app is probably the worst performing and designed streaming app that you'll ever find (and I've had eleven years of experience with the Apple TV and was a very early adapter for both the iPhone and iPad).

The on-demand content is VERY unreliable, it's so buggy and feature restricted that it shouldn't really be called "on-demand." it's more like watch it if you can or watch it if you dare. However, the realtime content (local stations) is okay. But, don't expect to be able to pause or rewind content or even return to your current place in the on-demand stream when (not "if") the DirectTV Now app suddenly dumps you midway through your program.

Fortunately, I have a bundle deal for just $10 per month for DirectTV Now and HBO (channel) and in total that is just about all it is worth. I suspect that they are making these "deals" because they know that the software is pretty much trash, so user beware.

As a further point of reference, I subscribe to PBS, Hulu, Netflix, HBO Now, and Warner Archive and the performance on all of those services is nearly flawless, so it's not my internet connection or my Apple TV or any of my other iOS devices. It's just the DirectTV Now app and their back-end services, they are really, really bad.

Sorry to hear that :(

It seems to be hit & miss. I have DTN & it works great! There were some issues in the beginning, but I have used it since Nov. 2016, & overall it's worked great fro me.

Really wish there was more consistent performance across the board for those having issues.

How would we get into the DVR beta program? I only signed up for the ATV but i am willing to give this a chance for the 3 months. I already have an expensive overpriced bundle with Cox so always open to this working out. I will go to the higher bundle if it does work so i can have NHL,NBA, MLB Tv. I'd love to try out the DVR though.

Thanks

Hmm. I already have DTV. I guess it's time to make a new Gmail account. Ha. Can't really resist that price.
Ditto. Need one for the bedroom. Too good of a deal. Trying to find a family member that wants three free months streaming!

Lack of channels on youtube Live compared to DirectTV now; no comparison. Until Youtube TV ups the channels, this deal is still best out there.

We like it. Just lacks Spanish language for the wifie... so we do a $10 Sling package that gives her a bunch of Spanish channels. My only gripe with DTN is that if you have the basic $35 package... and are scrolling through all the on demand content.. it makes you scroll through all the stuff u don't get. wastes a lot of time.

I took advatage of the free Apple TV when they were offering it free for 4 months. I couldn’t wait to get rid of DTVN. The service was constantly buffering. I could barfely watch anything. And I have 200m down. Never an issue streaming from Netflix, or Hulu, or Prime. 4K, HDR, no issues. But DTVN, just terrible. Im back with SlingTV and that’s where I am staying.

That is a fantastic deal. I'm already a subscriber, but I'm tempted to use my work email for another Apple TV.

On a side note, has anyone actually run out of space on their 32gb? I have two 32gb models and have never come close to filling either one up. Not sure why the 64gb even exists.

I’ve hit the limit on my 64GB ATV, mostly due to games. Deleted a bunch and haven’t it it again. It wasn’t a ton of games but apparently enough.

A day after I paid the $140 :( I already have access to both Charter and Xfinity so I don't need another service with the same channels. Oh well, still saved $52.

We did this back in November. The issue is ... DirecTV really sucks. The service is worse than I could have imagined. Get the deal, but plan to just sign up for something else.
I did it after Thanksgiving and it’s been solid for me and my family. Great quality and no issues.

I always thought about doing it when it was $105 for an ATV4. Then it became $140 for an ATV4K. Dropping back to $105 is too hard to resist, purchased one as soon as I woke up this morning.

No issues doing the 3x $35 this morning for the ATV.
Patience paid off. You won’t regret it!

I just signed up for this but it was $150.00 total, not $105.00 as the article says.

Nope, it's $105. It defaults to the live a lot plan. You have to manually change it to live a little and skip the Premium movie upgrade. Total for me was $105 just as OP said.

So even if I do not care about DirectTV now and their offerings, their deal is like buying Apple TV 4K for $105, correct? There is no catch, right?

As far as Apple TV vs Apple TV 4K, since my TV is only 1080P and I do not plan on replacing it until it dies, which I am hoping wont happen for the next 5+ years, will I benefit in any way by jumping to the 4K version?

What's worse?

I think if you buy movies/or other video, it's stored on the ATV4 EXCEPT for 4K video that you have to stream. Since I'm mostly not interested in buying video, my 32 gb ATV4 is fine.

Shame us Europeans can take this offer! I'd snatch it up in a second!

(Anyone want to take it up for me!? :D )
I thought DTV Now didn't stream this package to Europe.

DTV hands down has the lamest apps and interface of any subscription TV. There is no gift or amount of money that could compensate me for the pain of using it. A 1980’s color tv with an antenna and a programable VCR would be a better experience than DTV.

Just signed up and I gotta say I'm impressed with DirecTV Now so far! I've had Sling for a couple years because of the cheap price, but their interface is awful and performance is so-so. I've been wanting to try out the competition and was leaning toward YouTube TV, but this offer was too good to pass up.

For others considering the deal and reading the negative reviews here: I have FIOS 100/100 in Northern Virginia. Compared to Sling, the interface is much quicker, channels load faster, and I'm convinced the picture looks better. It's pretty much the cable-replacement experience I've been waiting for. Granted, I have only been using it for a couple hours, but I wanted to pass along a positive review for others before the deal runs out.

Can't wait to get the Apple TV so we can set-up a TV in the bedroom. :)

Does anyone know if there will be an email with tracking or shipping confirmation sent out? I signed up yesterday for the deal and received and email “Let’s get streaming”. It had my address and a picture of the Apple TV in it but nothing about shipping or anything.
[doublepost=1518283364][/doublepost]Actually, looking at my credit card it looks like the charge of $105 has dropped off completely. It was pending yesterday after I signed up and now it’s gone...

FYI: The promotional graphic no longer says 3 MONTHS and instead is now reverted to the old 4 MONTHS deal. But if you keep proceeding to checkout, when you add the AppleTV 4K to your cart, it still says 3 MONTHS at that point. I just completed my purchase for $105. :D

In case anyone else is wondering I just talked with one of their reps. They said that an email will be sent with tracking information once it is sent.

Yes. You will get an email when shipped. At least that’s what FAQ says.

You benefit by getting the latest Apple TV for $105.
