I am doing this for the free Apple TV which I will end up re-selling. So it's like trying the service out for free for three months while I still hold on to Vue.

But I still think Vue is the better overall value. For ten dollars more than the package that Directv offers you can get ninety channels with Vue. Plus I can DVR everything, NFL redzone availability, access to tv everywhere logins for almost everything, and five streams at one time.

So to me it is worth the ten dollars more a month to use Vue instead. If it weren't for the free Apple TV, I wouldn't even bother trying out Directvnow.

That is my take. I just signed up, so I essentially saved $50 on an ATV that I know I will use. If it works, great. If not, I'll just keep my normal cable plan.

my only concern is local channels. It appears that they will only have it in select cities and mine is not one of those

Check your local ISP. Mine comes with local channels with the internet for the same price as just internet. (ie Comcast gives me 45 local channels for the same price as just internet) Just a thought

ATT does the same thing. You can use your internet to login to the apps for the local channels. The only exception is CBS.

Few things to note:

1. The service starts immediately, which imo is frustrating since I obviously haven't received the ATV yet. I was expecting service to start when I activated it on the ATV (I'm not interested in using mobile)

2. Once you've signed up, you have to go back into your subscription and add HBO. If you sign up for the ATV deal and then the HBO add-on, they bill you for 3 months of HBO immediately.

3. The HBO GO app doesn't include DirectTv Now as sign in option yet.

4. The 7 free days are added to the end of your subscription.

5. The DIRECTV now app enables Nielsen Measurement by default.

You could always sign up in an ATT store and get an ATV right away.

Yea exactly. CBS has to be the stubborn prick out of all of this. Unreal
They have been that way for a while. I have never been able to stream the Chicago CBS station, while ABC, Fox, and NBC have been since the apps were released.

Weird, I was charged the flat $105.
Tax is based on State. Some states require sales tax on full retail price for promotional products.

Starts immediately but renews March 7 for 3 month prepayment. Should be enough extra time built in to have 3 months of service.

Signed up as well. Already have two 4th gen Apple TVs and 2 3rd gen, so I guess I'll swap a third gen out and use it to airplay music in another room.

Tried to sign into Disney Junior app with a DTV login and it was a no go. Hopefully the DTV app releases soon.

just google, "direct TV now IOS app" and you will find a link to the direct download. If you have the setting on where apps you download sync across all devices, it will download on your ATV.

Thanks. I found a link to it in another thread here. I'll get it installed on all the families' devices today.

From my confirmation email:

"Apple TV is on its way and should be in your hands within the next 2-3 weeks."

Good thing I already have one, or I would be pretty annoyed.

According to an earlier post, only 2 people/devices can stream at one time.

On a related question - can I stream while I am visiting my son's house in another state?

Works nice. Signed up as I was thinking of getting an Apple TV anyways. Merry Christmas to me.

Took a few tries to find the IOS app... does not come up in the Appstore search.

really impressed with the Picture Quality. It is playing flawlessly. Also the mobile app is great. Why can't watching live TV on the go be this easy with actual cable companies. No restrictions, no frills, just live TV using my cellular data.
Tablo works for OTA.

Just signed up for the 3 months sub.
My normal DirecTV subscription is $305 a month w/ Sunday ticket and dropping down to $35 will be fairly nice if the streaming service is at least up to par with Netflix or Hulu.

Either way, I have a good 3 months to figure out if this can replace my current satellite sub.
We're going to try this exclusively for the 3 months and see how the service fairs and make a final determination then.
Maybe before then.

I just know I tried Sling and it definitely wasn't for me, there were plenty of channels that would constantly buffer and was more aggravation than I wanted to experience when just wanting to watch TV. So, only time will tell with this new DTV service.
