Nicktoons and TeenNick are not in HD what a waste but they carry many other channels Sling does not have so I will keep Sling too for those channels. Yet they carry TV Land and the man Nickelodeon channel in HD which Sling does not have.

Does not matter as I prepaid for 3 months of Sling for a Roku Stick and payed for 1 month of DirecTV now to get a Fire TV stick at $35.00 and I get TCM, MTV2 and FXX. I will have to keep Sling until they carry those channels in HD.

Just signed up for the 3 months sub.
My normal DirecTV subscription is $305 a month w/ Sunday ticket and dropping down to $35 will be fairly nice if the streaming service is at least up to par with Netflix or Hulu.

Either way, I have a good 3 months to figure out if this can replace my current satellite sub.
We're going to try this exclusively for the 3 months and see how the service fairs and make a final determination then.
Maybe before then.

I just know I tried Sling and it definitely wasn't for me, there were plenty of channels that would constantly buffer and was more aggravation than I wanted to experience when just wanting to watch TV. So, only time will tell with this new DTV service.

If you are somehow able to keep your Sunday ticket that would be really nice. For me, it is really going to boil down to how good the on demand selection becomes. I cannot remember the last night I watched a TV show live.

...

How in the world can you have a $305 a month bill?

You do know most of what you have on the $305 will not be on the $35 plan, right?

Extra DVRs?
Extra Movie Channels?
Sunday Ticket?

Still, how did you get to $305? Most people I know are around $100.

Sports this time of year and just a very small handful of shows we will watch Live but I would have to say the vast majority of our TV consumption is Hulu, Netflix, CBS app and other similar apps on the AppleTV.
This actually comes at a good point this week as I'm in town and we will all be home this week and weekend so we can really test out the service and see if it falls short somewhere.
I'm sure with 4 different people with different types of TV watching habits in one house hitting this thing hard and heavy, some kind of bugs are going to be found.

Sorry, $301 and some change.
And Yes, very aware I will not have as many channels as I do now.
Sunday Ticket Max is 59.99 per month
Equipment is 74.99 per month
23.27 in fees and taxes per month
$144.99 is actual channel fee.

I already have 4 AppleTV's on all of the TV that have DTV receivers.
I have 2 receivers and a dish on the RV that we use 1-2 times per year.

I am merely saying I want to use this 3 months that I prepaid for to essentially test the service to find out if what we actually watch a majority of the time can be completely fulfilled by DirecTV Now.
If so, then so long to that $300/month bill and I go from $3600 per year to $420 per year.

A 3 grand savings is enough to make it ok if I don't have Sunday Ticket next year. And to just get away from the satellite subscription entirely.

That bill doesn't seem that out of the ordinary to me. I am at almost $200 this time of year with Sunday Ticket. Once that is done and I can cancel HBO we're talking about knocking off $80 right there. Those damn receiver fees kill you. I've mentioned previously that just cutting HBO and receiver fees on 3 TV's will save me $38 a month. The cost of carrying Directv Now. That way I could still keep sat on two TV's and have access to Sunday ticket.

Most likely because it is bundled with an AT&T cellular unlimited data plan with multiple lines. Mine is about that much.

I see you have almost no discounts. Find out if your employer offer cellular discounts and apple it. Currently I save 19% on my bill.

Im at $341 with Comcast with 3 TVs and box rentals, 150MBps internet, modem rental, and alarm. Just signed up for the DirectTV promo. Going to at least keep my Internet and alarm active with Comcast.

Curious.... how much would your bill be if you bought your own Comcast boxes and modem?

good god some of these cable bills. I thought I paid a lot at $147 out the door with Uverse. That is for gigabit internet speeds, 4 HD DVRs, and an extra sports package so I get redzone. I do pay for HBO Now and Netflix (4K package) so that technically adds $26.

Yep. Just looked at my bill and I was at $233. A shock to the system and am canceling services as we speak. I'm thinking it might be cheaper to sign up for two Directv Now accounts and get 4 streams at $70 and call it a day.

I am my employer.

It is not bundled with ATT cellular unlimited.

My AT&T plan is 10 iPhones with 80GB data + rollover @ just under $500 / month.

I don't want my plans bundled together, should I need to separate anything at a later date, that makes it more difficult to do. I've gone down that route before.

I also have AT&T business fiber internet at the office.

And, this could be different per area but I have spoken to business reps, etc etc etc all the way through AT&T, and am always promised an 18-20% discount is I bundle of change services to business plans and after actually getting hard numbers doing the math then minus the discounts, my monthly bill actually goes up a few bucks.

Ours is $160 with a genie and two additional rooms, no premiums other than the HD extra. You add premium content and Sunday Ticket and it'll jump right to $300 in a heartbeat.

With out phones, internet and the landline tossed in...$350

i TELL YOU WHAT IM ACTUALLY EXCITED TO WHERE TV IS GOING

What needs to happen is cable companies stop with their "gentlemans agreement" not to compete with each other and start offering their TV service over broadband like Dish, DTV, Sling and Vue.

Hopefully DirecTV Now, along with Sling and Vue, push things in this direction and encourage competition on price.

I see lots of folks thinking about saving hundreds a month. I think the hardest part is giving up the DVR part.

And then there are the TVs in the guest bedrooms. Pretty sure many of us are not about to tell guests to fire up the ipad to watch tv. LOL!

Really though - about 90% of what we watch is on the DVR - even the daily news shows.

When the DVR comes a lot of folks will be ok I think.

Trying to watch it, and after 10 or 15 minutes it keeps giving me an error that my account's maximum number of streams are playing. I have only one stream playing.

The annoying part is it's an on demand show, and it doesn't remember where I was when I go back to the episode. Also, scrubbing is horrendous.

Mine has done that a couple times too. Launch day jitters I suspect.
