I have canceled my direct tv for Directv now and I am happy so far. I have had it since the first week out. I will need to buy a HD antenna for local channels but I am saving a bunch. I also prepaid and received a second Apple TV.

If you go with the OTA antenna, I would strongly recommend you get an HDHomeRun (~$80-$175 depending on model) plus the Channels app ($25). Along with the AppleTV, it is superb experience.

Which do you have?

I have the HDHomeRun Connect, which is the least expensive current version. It has 2 tuners and is OTA only.

In terms of setup, I have an inside antenna up in my attic and can pull in all local networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) as well as ~40 misc channels that, honestly, I've never tuned into!

I use the Channels app on 3 AppleTV 4s thought my house. And I also have set up Plex with their new DVR functionality for the rare occasions that I record OTA TV.

Side note: I used to have a Tablo, and used it for ~1-1/2 years. The HDHR + Channels option is miles better for live TV. Of course, Tablo offers native DVR functionality, but I rarely used that anyhow.

Can the Channels App pull content/programming/channels from other services like Directv Now, Netflix, etc into the app so you can access all your stuff through the app ?

For a DVR for those local channels I suggest a Tablo.
I won't disagree...there are tons of positives about the Tablo. But personally, I prefer the HDHomeRun+Plex+Channels setup. As mentioned, I do very little recording, and the Tablo is certainly an easier all-in-one setup. But boy, it is slow.

No. Channels pulls from the HDHomeRun devices only. To this point there is no single app that pulls in everything you subscribe to or own.

Well it looks like Hulu and Google are smoking Directv Now by signing CBS. Did ATT think they could prolong negotiations when they are no longer the only game in town?

They seriously need to get a deal with CBS and Showtime and also get NBC on television.
I already do Hulu, which is basically my DVR service, if they Have all networks and Live streaming with the majority of channels Direct TV Now offers mad does so without issues, and are Under $40 inclusive with what they have now, plus it is shows up in the app, I'll switch

I agree on the firestick i do the HD Homerun within Kodi, it works but it dos'nt match the experience and quality of the channels App, I wonder if the developers of Channel's can get it recognized within the TV App

Yeah, my son uses an app inside of Plex to grab the HDHomeRun, and it is useable, but minimally. I would think the Channels developers would have a huge opportunity to at least build a Roku and FireTV version of their app. Even just the standard app, not the extra DVR.

So what happens if there are rate increases? Do we lock in that $35 monthly rate forever? Do we get bumped up to pay the $60...

It was very clear that we are Grandfather in on the Go Big Plan for $35. My "guess" is if the Go Big plan which is now $60 goes up we could see a bump relative to that bump. Like if it goes up to $65 maybe our $35 goes up to $40. But that is just a guess. I also expect more prices options like the HBO and MAX add-on's. Like maybe Showtime or Starz. Also, I expect CBS to be added at some point like has been announced with Hulu. Maybe that will have some options. But to be clear we are Grandfather in and will not simply jump to $60 when the promotion ends on 1/9/17.

I have Sling for a while now and just signed up for trial of DTVN to see. Decided DTVN with its wider choices is the better value. Will be switching over on Monday (last day of Go Big offer). Just hope they don't inch up the cost, which would move me back to Sling.

I actually don't see all that much difference between the lowest DTVN tier and Go Big as far as key channels. At least from my point of view.

I was excited for DirecTV now until I realized you can't watch the NFL. In LA I do get my local channels, but still no NFL. So, I won't be keeping my subscription. Got a free Apple TV though.

Would not recommend this service. It's plagued with bugs and barely works most of the time. Most common error is "QP1502" which has its own hashtag on twitter, and completely ends your stream at random. Their current "workaround" for the issue is to set the Apple TV to 720p resolution, and while that does lessen how often you see the error, it does still happen. Also, if you're using a 4K TV like I am, you know it's less than ideal to set your resolution to 720p.

Even if they resolve this issue through a patch, the interface is just generally bad and a hassle to navigate. I also find the on demand content lacking, compared to something like PS Vue (which also worked flawlessly in my 7 day trial)

Only had this happen twice since I've had the service and it was during the Wild Card playoff between Houston & Oakland. Maybe they had a big load because of the playoffs (?)
Other than that, for me, the service has been great. I don't watch that much TV, but the ATV deal was too good to pass up.

Anyone know if there is a previous channel feature on the Apple Remote?

Secondly, how does one setup a watchlist?
