Wow, i feel bad for your "friend".

Please see my latest post. I am selling a bundle, not the phone individually. The 128GB iPhone 6 Plus VZ with 5 cases, 1 screen protector and 3 Apple Watch Bands. My friend was the individual who placed his price, not me.

It seems like the 16GB holds value the most, buyers don't want to pay another hundred or two for more storage on a used phone, causing extra lost value.

I can't believe I'm going to have to sell my like new mint condition 6plus Verizon 128gb for $620. That's a drop off $380 including tax. iPhone are not a what they used to be.
You'll find that your pool of potential buyers drops off a lot when you start getting above $500 and $600. Plus your phone is the max storage version which has always traditionally had the lowest resale value relative to original cost. No one is paying $700-800 for a used device so you guys who bought the highest storage versions, I'm not sure what you were realistically expecting. If you had the 16GB version then not only would you retain the most value relative to original cost, but you would also have more potential buyers in general since its value sits within that threshold that most people who shop for used phones can afford.

I purchased a full priced, unlocked iPhone 6+ from Apple this past February. I had heard for years that it made more sense to buy full price and go off contract with carriers because you could always resell iPhones for close to what you bought them for. Unfortunately, Gazelle, eBay and Craigslist seem to be pricing my phone from $500 to $600 when i paid $850 for it. I plan on buying the 6S or 6S+ next week, so I will really just be funding my upgrade. In addition, AT&T doesn't have discounted plans for off contract users. I may even just do AT&T Next.

even 500 is high.. i wouldnt pay that much... thats why i always buy new stuff.

You will never get back what you paid for on anything unless it's a return or an item that is severely rare or out of print. Not to mention that the timing of this was very poor planning to say the least. A lot of buyers now are smarter about values and the information behind the product you're selling.

I remember back when the Plus was new I actually made money on my model I sold, remember this was back when the phone was brand new and eBay had a surplus of phones being sold for thousands of dollars. The value dropped a whole lot months later when people were feeling a little bad about what they bought (not used to phones that big, for example).

Anyway, if you want to make profit on your phone you need to sell it closer to its launch date and when it's in high demand.

Only "losing" that much money isn't that bad at all, really. 500-600 is expected unlocked for a phone a year old this close to the new one releasing.

I think the resale value is pretty decent I can still get £400 for my 6 plus if I wanted to sell it.

$650 at least - the same phone will be on sale for $750 beginning next week.
As mentioned by others, the value is going down because the supply is going up. More and more people are unloading their phones now (and more so once the new 6s hits the streets). Basic economics, supply and demand.

It's called DEPRECIATION, USED, PRE-OWNED, SECOND OWNER.

Well I have the 128 gb space gray iPhone 6 plus and it is MINT! I still have 1yr of Apple care + and the phone always is in a Tech21 case. I can trade mine in via AT&T next or pay off the remaining $300 and sell it myself. I guess I should instead of AT&T getting the phone and selling it for their profit. With the 128gb, AppleCare+, screen protector, and a possibly a case, I'll be asking $750-$850 for mine.

Another misconception is that more GBs will get a higher price, and you'll never get an extra $100 for more GBs. $50 if you're lucky on a 64GB device.

Yup and even less on a 128GB device. Buyers who want 128GB aren't very price sensitive and will likely just buy it straight from Apple rather than 2nd hand. Even less so on a 6 Plus. IMO, only people who know they want a 6 Plus would even get a 6 Plus to start with.

He won't. $650 is the sweet spot.

Well, I'll start high, $725 or so because you know if I ask $650, they will haggle for $600 or $550. In order to get $650 you will have to ask around the $750 range in order to get it lowered to $650. You guys failed to mention that part of the sale. Everybody's always going to haggle.

The full price game only works when you are with a carrier where you can get a no contract plan on the cheap. i.e. You don't need many minutes of talk time TMO has a $30 dollars a month 100 min talk and unlimited text w/5gb LTE data plan or a $60 a month Unlimited 3gb plan etc then your savings each year finance your next upgrade. As for selling have you tried the website www.swappa.com they only charge a $10 listing fee and use Paypal, they also will show you the average selling price for your device. Might be worth a shot I sell all my phones through them.

people only care about the latest apple thing - thats just part of the fanboy mind set so I'm not surprised at all around the prices, infact id be surprised if it fetches more than $500.

In the uk you get them for about £100 on a contract and small month cost - i dont see it makes sense to throw money at a device like this. It's just a forever obsolete consumable device.

Your conplaining that your only getting $650 back on an $850 investment after 12 months of depreciation a week before the new model is announced.

I would jump at that price! It will drop once new models are announced and even more so when they are accessible with decent stock levels.

LOL.

I listed a month ago a used Sony Playstation 4 (retail value at gamester/Sony..etc at $399) at $0.99 and finished at $550.

No you didn't....

It was a Black PS4, two controllers, Cables with GTA V box, COD AW, Watch Dogs, Madden 25, Madden 15, Saints Row IV, Diablo 3, Tomb Raider, Killzone shadow falls, Shadows of Mordor, The Crew, Last of US, Witcher 3: collectors Edition.

Please just stop.

You're not making any profit.

this week I'm actually seeing 6+ (16gb) on CL in the Northwest as low as $250 to $300 now I'm sure they are not "mint" but prices surely aren't going up !

btw buying for $850 then using for a year and getting $500 to $600 certainly doesn't seem bad to me

re screen protectors and cases those are like your used underwear they are worth nothing to a prospective buyer in fact they may even hamper the sale just throw them away

If I can sell my phone for around $300 below the original price I paid after a year I'd be happy. It's like paying less than$1 a day to borrow it.
