I went to my 10am appointment at First Colony Mall in Sugar Land, TX pretty excited to be one of the first to try on. I had already preordered last night, but I wanted to try the different bands. I had favorited only the 42 SS Milanese.

Anyways, my genius first pulls then Stainless Link bracelet and put it on me. Really great design. Then, I said I wanted to try the Milanese Loop. Very, very comfortable and igneous design. I really like NATO straps for watches so I appreciated the look.

I told him I had already preordered last night but I wanted to try the different bands. In that much time, he had closed the drawer about 7 minutes into my appointment. I asked could I try the sport band, and he says sorry I can only let you try 2 of them on, you can make another appointment. I was so confused, I didn't even know what to say. I just walked out of the store annoyed. I never liked the people from that particular store, they're much nicer at the bigger stores in Houston. And now I'm here complaining to Macrumors lol

Anyways, I'm still hoping for a 24th delivery date.

You have to understand that demand is high and a lot of people are making appointments. They need to keep things moving quickly. But I agree that if you have extra time left in your appointment, you should be allowed to try another one on.

Wow looks great! Although hard to tell, your wrist looks very similar to mine, and it's comforting to see that the 42 doesn't look too big at all!

Also, really loving the Milanese with all these pictures people are posting! Still baffled at how much better it looks than Apple's own showcasing! Will definitely have to get come gen 2!

I would definitely understand that also, but there was probably 12 display cases and one other person in the store with an appointment. I expected a little more.

They should've made only the 42mm in my opinion. The 38mm is just too small considering you're going to be touching the screen.

Reports say everyone is limited to 2 tries max.

But some seem lucky to try on more apparently.

Super underwhelming for me too. I wanted to see the classic buckle on the space grey sport but was told no because there's only 15 minutes. Does it take that long to swap a band for a second? I took maybe 1/3rd of the allotted time. Playing with the display one was also pretty underwhelming. The coolest thing was probably taptic feedback but after getting my preorder in last night with a 4/24 ship date I'm super conflicted.

I will join the long list of people who were surprised at how "not huge" the 42mm is. I have about 171mm wrist and it's not even a question, for me, for the 42 vs 38. And I don't love massive watches.

I like the link strap the most and have ordered that, however the Milanese was the most comfortable strap I've ever worn. It's not for me style-wise, but it is super comfortable. The Sport strap is far nicer than I expected.

SS link band is gorgeous. There seems to be lots of love for the Milanese but I really don't like it. Looks strange.

I just had my try on appointment and I must have gotten lucky because the Apple employee who guided me through my try on let me try on as much as I wanted. I tried four different bands and he even let me go through the experience of changing a band out.

My initial impressions: 42mm is not big at all and I think that is the one most men will want, watch is not as heavy as I thought it would be even the stainless models, screen looks great, and the tactic engine is very subtle (hoping there is a setting to turn it up a bit).

Be interesting when Apple moves into womens clothing.

Sorry, you have already tried on two dresses, if you wish to try on another, you will need to make another appointment :D

I think OP probably got a dud salesperson and/or location, and it's probably going to be pretty variable. And it doesn't sound like lines are exactly out the door, so things will probably loosen up anyway. I mean, unless buzz pulls an iPad 1.0 on us.

Wow completely different experience from mine.

I tried SS and sport models in sport bands, buckle, Milanese loop, bracelet (silver and black) both in 42 and 38mm. My partner was with me who had no interest in ordering and she even tried on about 3 straps.

After all the try ons we went through a demo of all the glances and watch faces and the dude asked if I needed any more assistance to ask.

I then looked at the ones on display and another member of staff asked if I would like to try them on.

i wonder if the issue is that he told the dude he already preordered one?

i most certainly won't be telling them that when i go in.... but i'll also make sure to try on the two i'm most interested in first!

If you can't try the ones you want, there's no point to the appointment. The appointment is supposed to serve a purpose, it's not charity to get a glimpse.

You didn't even really need to change the analogy. Imagine going into any other jewellers and being limited to getting only two of their watches out of the case to try on. After that you have to either make a decision or come back another day. Ridiculous.

I was also disappointed/underwhelmed with the try on. All of the try on models had dead batteries, so you couldn't really see how the OS felt when on the wrist.

The person helping me rushed through 2 options and that was it, not even 10 minutes in length. I get it, they're busy, they have a schedule, which is fine. But the store I was at still has time slots available for try on through the rest of today.

Also, it was awkward. The way in which they would attempt to put the watch on, they got weird when I was adjusting the strap, and they cupped their hands under the watch as I was removing it.

I was able to overhear other try ons. A lot of the dialogue didn't sound natural. You could hear phrases like we've seen leaked recently about their training and how to engage customers during the try on. "How does this band make you feel?", for example. A bit weird overall. Seems like some employees are out of their element.
