I simply don't care. Calm down and have an :apple:.

That's basically where I'm at, its an internet forum after all. If apple wants to inhibit end user tech support by changing the format of their forum, so be it. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. They'll either realize the error of their ways or they'll just plowing ahead without regard to how some folks who were active on the board feel.

So.... you and the other people on there provided free help to users (a good thing... thank you!)

The devs changed stuff around, and it has bugs (probably only 2-3, but you're angry and that becomes 100, I've been there too).

You say they don't owe anything to you or the other users.... so.... why rant hysterically about it as if they do.

You say the discussion board is irrelevant. Seems relevant to you.

.... finally... why rant on here about it? Give Apple the feedback.

---

Good grief. It's a website. It's not the end of the world. Move to another forum if you still want to help the Apple community. It's great you want to - and I'm sure many people appreciate that. If the Apple boards have become garbage, move to one of the hundreds of other sites out there.

No offense taken. I tend to just sit back and enjoy it lol.

Is it sad that when I get bored at night I sometimes come on here just to laugh at some of the drama-filled posts? It really is entertaining.

Those "some folk" are 95% of the answering pool.

Its not a format change, there are now 100 roadblocks in place that prevent helping users.

Apple always acts this way, its not shocker to me, I know how Apple runs from the inside from those working there at some higher levels.

It is just a giant machine, not different than IBM is/ was, contrary to their image making magicians.

I dont care much either, now I have more free time to be productive elsewhere in real life, To he11 with their website. :D

You dont understand anything on this matter. There is a running list of no less than 90 serious flaws and the list grows.

Its Apples site, if they want to intentionally destroy it and run off 95% of their workforce for the board helping users....

fine, their choice.

What people in this thread know on this matter are the points that you've taken the time to clear to explain to them.

Which, at this point IMO, aren't many.

Why don't you give yourself 48 hours to cool down, and if this is still an issue that bugs you that much, come back to this thread then.

But basically right now, you're saying EVERYTHING IS BROKEN, and when people press for more information, or try to feel out why you're so spun up, you reply with "You don't understand", which comes across as something rude to say to someone who's only trying to understand your point.

Report the list to Apple then? You said you know people working there at high levels, so let them know.

It's the only way they'll know about the issues. :apple:

Agreed.

Actually, its called a SIGNED NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT about the inner workings on the matter.

Heard of one of those?

You're not helping your case here by being so hostile to someone offering advice.

Lets keep things civil, otherwise this thread will be locked.

So, basically what I am hearing is...

  • You used to be a volunteer answering questions on a Forum
  • You felt important cause you answered a lot of questions
  • Apple made some changes to the Forum you didn't like
  • Now you don't feel quite so important any more
  • Your feelings got hurt
  • You came to another Forum to get sympathy

'bout sums it up for me

You forgot the part where he really can't say what the actual problems are because of a "SIGNED NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT."

Honestly the mods should just close this thread now and save themselves the headache.

If you signed one of them, then perhaps you shouldn't be here complaining about the site.

I have to agree with you jeremysteele. There is no use in coming here and ranting.

Yes you the OP have concerns, but those are best brought to Apple's attention. If you have done that and received no response, then maybe it is time to move on. Things are not always as we like them so we learn to adapt.

If you are a top answerer at Apple, then your advice could certainly be used on there boards. The great majority of people here truly appreciate good advice. Yes there can be some tough cookies, but that is going to happen on just about any forum.

Who cares, geez. You came to one forum you don't like to complain about another forum you (now) don't like. Too much drama. If this is your biggest problem in life then consider yourself lucky. Take this as an opportunity to move on and do something else with your life. It's not like that's the only place people can go to have their questions answered (or to give answers).

I cast my one little vote for this proposal.

The one thing I've been able to glean from the posts is that the Apple forum is, or perhaps was, really important to the poster. I can relate to that, not the Apple forum so much, but forums in general.

It's crazy how wound up we can get in this environment, but it surely does happen. Happens to me all the time, for years now.

And this is a primitive text based environment compared to what must be coming. What's going to happen when forums evolve in to interactive video projected off the screen in to the 3D space around you, and many of the forum members are software based entities which can be customized to your pickiest specifications??

Well, I'll probably be dead, and the rest of you are going to lose your minds.

The totally irresistible iWacky, coming soon to an Apple store near you!

Another possibility:
  1. You used to be a volunteer answering questions on a Forum.
  2. You answered a lot of questions.
  3. Apple made some changes to the Forum that make it more difficult to answer questions.
(Speculation by me, given the lack of details and the extremity of hyperbole.)
  4. Some or all of these changes and/or the difficulties in using them are covered by an NDA, but what these are is never described, because NDA.
  5. You came to another Forum to complain, despite no one here knowing anything about what the actual problems are, because NDA.
Given that items 3-5 seem to be covered by NDA (according to the OP), I'm not sure what anyone here could possibly do to remedy this, or even discuss it in a useful way, such as by agreeing or disagreeing.

It doesn't even appear we could give feedback to Apple, because we have no idea what the OP's actual complaint is.

Apple made some changes to the Forum you didn't likee

point, missed it 100%

Talking about nearly 100% of the serious 'hitters' there who answer 95% of the questions.

Its not "me" or "my", its ALL OF US there doing 95% of the work.

NONE OF "THEM" want it.

----------

Out of curiosity, I just went to the site. The first question I opened was answered by someone called King Penguin (level 10) and Meg St. Clair (level 8), so apparently not "everyone" is jumping ship.

Thats because they, us, have agreed that if (our consensus) Apple flips it back within a week or so, then OK

otherwise its bye bye.

Yes, it has more bugs than a beehive, it makes answering peoples questions and multiple questions IMPOSSIBLE.

There are no bugs in a beehive...
If it's so much work twice that of a full time job and it sucks and you hate it and this that and the other thing, guess what. You can leave and never go back. My dad was on a hockey forum for sense something crazy like 2001. It looked exactly like Mac rumors. Exactly. They messed with it looks so it looks like crap and works like crap. You know what the the 1000s and 1000s of people did? Moved to a diffrent one. Everyone the place is dead. All becuase NO ONE makes you go there. They are all at some other one. So just do that. Go some where else or stop altogether. Mac Rumors is an awesome place. You can come here. If the air isn't good enough for you we have something called google.
