Not only that, but they're the ones who decided to allow multiple streams on one account. If they didn't want people doing that, they shouldn't have done it in the first place.
At least D+ has only ad or no ad and not other tiers by res/streams. If NF is going to force someone to top tier to get 4K, then they should be able to use the four streams however they want

This is just gouging; i.e., taking advantage of inflation on products sensitive to supply chain costs, etc., to increase their prices when there's NOTHING in the cost basis for streaming services that has actually increased in cost!
Hahaha...with zero interest rates the streaming services spent enormous amounts of money creating content. The amount of content available for so little money is staggering today. People have been completely spoiled and with rising rates we're about to enter a new content desert for the foreseeable future.

Disney has raised Disney Plus price every year so far starting in 2021. Same with Hulu.

Disney Plus no ads
Nov 2019 = $6.99 launch price
Mar 2021 = $7.99
Dec 2022 = $10.99
Oct 2023 = $13.99

Hulu no ads
Sep 2015 = $11.99 launch price
Oct 2021 = $12.99
Oct 2022 = $14.99
Oct 2023 = $17.99

Hope this isn't going to be an annual thing.
Yes this is what makes it so ridiculous is the frequency and amount. $3 two years in a row!?

I was hoping for an endless and unlimited archives from the vault. Stuff I grew up with. Why not have all the classic Disney shorts instead of just some of them? All the nature shows, Walt Disney Presents, etc.?
I don't want Star Wars or Marvel anymore. They thought churning out a "major" release every two weeks or something would be a good thing. Just dilutes talent and quality.
Not paying 14 bucks a month to watch Ken or Mary Stus with no character arcs.

Good for you. There’s a local restaurant who started pulling this same shenanigans and we stopped going there. They did also raise their menu prices, too, so actually they’re double dipping. Either raise the price for everybody, eat the cost of doing business, or stop taking cards.

Visa used to penalize merchants who charged a higher price to cardholders for using their cards instead of cash. Shame they aren’t enforcing it anymore.
Would still rather pay a surcharge than have no option of card or the BS can't use the card under $X, especially when the amount is high for what you would buy. But even the surcharge thing I would probably never return since most don't do it

The last year I dumped Netflix, MAX, Disney+ and Peacock Premium. I have only kept Prime Movies (mostly because I use prime for shipping, but I do like the virtual equivalent of diving into the Walmart discount DVD barrel every once in awhile), AppleTV+ because it's effectively free with AppleOne and PBS which has pretty good content for $5/mo.

I'm not being a cheapskate. I just got tired of paying for services that stopped producing compelling content and started rearranging deckchairs to squeeze out more profits instead. If Netflix wants my money they are going to have to at least put up a third season of Mindhunter.

There’s also less reason for people to catch the latest Disney movie at the cinema if they know it will eventually come to their streaming platform (I haven’t watched a marvel movie since endgame).
Yes it's still by far cheaper for a month at even the new pricing than it would be for two of use in a chain theater. We might go if it comes to one of the cheaper local ones. Concessions are absolutely ridiculous even compared to before. $9 for a small of stuff?!?! HARD PASS

Ridiculous! Already cancelled Netflix and Spotify due to price hikes. Nothing justifies these increases but corporate greed! It’s not like any of that money goes to the workers or actors anyway.
You realize that they're losing tons of money on streaming right?

See, I just don't get it. We left TV because it was too expensive and went to streaming. Now, we're suppose to go right back, pay the same prices, only to have to deal with the internet instead (and subsequent data caps from our internet providers)? Am I missing something here?
You need Internet either way unless all you do is stream and no other stuff that needs Internet. The greatest benefit for us of no traditional cable is no equipment to deal with. We have BYOD for Internet for both modem and router, so if we want to end it or switch, we just just do it. No returning anything.

Streaming services really do have a tendency to forget that their entire business model relies on them being slightly less annoying than going with the $0-per-month Jack Sparrow bundle, huh? 🏴‍☠️
I think you're greatly overestimating how many people even care that much about the price increases or considering pirating content an alternative.

Streaming is a classic example of dangling the carrot from the stick. A bunch of ppl bought into it early on due to very low prices and now that prices are going up, they feel outraged and offended. Streaming platforms are slowly becoming the classic cable companies of today...offering hundreds of channels that you don't want and raising prices to subsidize said channels
The worst are LiveTV. You could even get the good ones in the beginning for $30. Now it's like double-triple. The ones we liked most were PSVue which died and YTTV, but we cancelled them long ago due the the ridiculous price increases

I can see a future where everyone signs up for only 1 service per month, then switches to the next. Holding onto multiple services throughout the year makes less and less sense. 🤮
Actually that’s a good idea!. Suspend for a month and cycle through services!. I think I might try it, let’s see how much of a pain if “cancel” and “re-register” every month. Perhaps a business opportunity for a service to do that for me? For 1 buck per month?

Nah, personally I’m good. I never even clicked on anything else aside from “Marvel” section, but now I have watched them pretty much all and finishing up last few shows in the next month. Then see no reason having Disney+ anymore

That’s the thing, getting billed through Apple makes cancellation/ resubscribing, stupidly easy. Matter of fact you can just cancel immediately after the booking for the streaming service appears as being billed.
