For the amount and quality of content you get, this is a great deal. Ad support on Hulu tends to be pretty brief so it doesn’t bother me much. Consider me sold!

Hope they hurry up and reveal some details for the UK launch and pricing.

Makes me wonder what Apple are going to have to do here to compete. As usual I already feel like they’re taking the ‘we’re superior’ position by not announcing prices. To get my attention they need to perhaps do a bundle (tv+ and Apple Music for example) or let us pick and choose for a competitive price.

I’m worried they’ll just stick to one premium price then have to back-peddle when it doesn’t work.

Apple is further constrained by some real limitations. But at the same time, it has much wider variety of services at its arsenel:

It remains to be seen whether Apple will be able to utilize them for competitive advantage. Bundles such as these could cover very large percentage of potential customers:

Apple's best shot may to follow the Amazon's "Prime" model.

Prime Video's content offerings were meager in the beginning, with it being positioned more as a bonus add-on to the other services.

Over time, Amazon invested heavily in original content, which gained traction with audiences, and the Video service developed its own reputation.

Apple is developing original content from the start, but it will still take some time to gain traction, and it's a different, more competitive market as well, with Netflix and Amazon well established, and the old guard heavyweights jumping directly in as well.

I think it's a nice deal. To summarize currently I'm paying:

iCloud 200GB 2.99€
Apple Music 6.99€
Netflix 10.99€
Hulu (with Ads). 5.50€
Amazon Video. 2.99€
Eurosport Player 2.50€
---------
Total ~32€ per month

Adding Disney+ and ESPN+ for 6€ per month seems to worth it.

i feel like either im crazy or the rest of the thread is to me, this feels like a cold deal.

the disney+ lineup is very underwhelming (yes i realize it will grow in time )

hulu has allways been the most underwhelming of the 3 most popular streaming platforms and to add insult to injury this bundle doesnt even include the ad free version.

then theres ESPN+, i wont lie I'm not the biggest "sports ball" fan but it cant be everyone in here is being won over by sports can it?

How about another bundle which drops ESPN+ and makes Hulu ad-free for the same money?
that may convince me, maybe not right away but once disney+ ads more of its back catalog especially the old animated TV shows etc.

You're probably not the target audience for this.

Welp this just confirms that Disney + will completely dominate the market fairly quickly

I think Disney+(bundle) is still seen as a complement to other services. The content still isn't as "mature" per se as other streaming services. I suspect savvy users will still do the whole subscribe/cancel thing.

probably not because of the sports thing or maybe its the 2.1TB of disney content on my plex server.
but i want to be.

i love disney stuff and if similarly to how iTunes match converted all my legally pirated music to legit music I want Disney to step up their game to do the same.

also. so i can get HD or better encodes of the old afternoon Disney cartoons, i want all the censored and uncensored version of the OG classics, i would want to finish off my collection of most of the god awful disney channel movies etc.

i realize thats unrealistic and it would require disney to put up their whole catalog which i doubt they ever will but i expected them to hit the mark closer than they did.

if they cant convince a disney super fan like me/my family to get it (who also currently uses hulu occasionally BTW)
well then who is this for.?

It’s for families, most of whom don’t have every Disney/marvel/Star Wars/Pixar film ripped to a plex server, and people who want to watch new content like the Star Wars and Marvel TV series which will exclusively be found there.
