Firefly land at Epcot!!!
you can have firefly land,

i just want them to do more in that universe.
reboot of the show maybe?
or new story, same universe with original cast cameos.
more movies etc.

anything firefly/serenity and that will be just shiny

It will come down to whoever has the most money. I'll take bets between Apple or Disney. Netflix can't compete with them in terms of available $$$

Netflix actually has nearly as big a market cap as Disney, believe it or not

Monopoly? Warner Bros? Comcast? Turner? Netflix? Apple? Amazon? I could keep going on. And on. And on. There is more competition in the entertainment industry than there has ever been before, and more content being created than ever before.

And the middle class is not becomng extinct - shrinking, sure. But certainly not because those companies are making movies or because they have a lot of money (all debt financed anyway). It’s because all the manufacturing jobs shifted overseas because government regulation didn’t put tariffs in place to equalize the playing field. But then you’d be paying more for all your products and we’d have more pollution, so nobody wins there either. I’d redirect the scorn to the Big Box stores that proliferated throughout the land. They became bigger as the middle class became smaller.
I'm excited for this acquisition because of the MCU. But, Disney acquiring Fox means there's one less studio for directors/writers to pitch their stories to. That creates a problem.

"In order to ensure the security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the First Galactic Empire for a safe and secure society!"
--Disney, probably

The thing is, Netflix is BURNING CASH to make this (meh) content, license other content, and competitors are creeping in...powerful competitors. That's my point. They not only need time, they need MONEY.

Netflix also doesn't make all that much money and this is the entire business. They don't have a movie studios, parks, merchandising, and TV channels. I like Netflix...I just think they are in for a hell of a fight...probably an unwinnable fight against media giants.

Netflix was/is great, but it won't last. They were first to the party, but competition is going to hurt their business because at the end of the day, they are no great content creator or content buyer. They are an app. They don't have the money to buy content in a big way (see Disney's $71B Fox acquisition) and don't have the experience to make great content.

1. The stuff he listed isn't 'meh' it is very good.
2. House of cards was 6 seasons - not 3. Stop it with this.
3. Stop claiming they have the best content. They don't. There are YouTubers putting out better content each week than Disney can do with 3 years development.

Every example you give of quality Disney content is just a polished version of public domain content. Whenever Disney tries to expand the story the product is terrible. No one lists The Return of Jafar as a top movie. It might have made some money, but it was a great reminder that Disney can not make original content despite all of their capital.

Seriously, name one iconic original Disney character from the last 10 years. How about the last 15? Anna from Frozen is just a renamed Gerda from the Snow Queen. Everyone else is just a Pixar or Lucas Film property that hasn't worked well since the Mouse bought them. Disney can claim awards with other peoples content, but when asked to do it on their own they fail.

What's disgusting is not having the Xmen and Fantastic 4 in the MCU. That'll finally change.
i was more miffed the MCU was not allowed to use the word Mutant"
same with invoking names of x-men characters.
once you know that it sticks out like a sore thumb any time they had to dance around it

Flopped after 3...look at the ratings.

The content IS 'meh' from a financial perspective. It's the definition of meh.

What you're not realizing is the Disney content is OWNED by them, regardless of how they obtained it. That means they can make money on Elsa from Frozen and hardly anyone even knows the Snow Queen story.

I am just going to laugh at point 3. Show me YouTubers making $1B movies, merchandising them, and building theme park attractions.

Moana made $650M wordwide and millions still from merchandising, just as an example. I don't even know if that is an original story, but it doesn't matter. Tangled was a hit too, based on a Grimm story, but again, Disney is adding value to these stories and making money.

Hasn't worked well? Did you see the Box Office rankings from 2018?

Here is real news and hard data. Sorry. :D

I appreciate that, as I have my own fandoms. As a fan of the movies I really hate it when comic people get annoyed that a change was made. Most people don't care about the comics, and they don't mind if someone is missing from the avengers. Personally I didn’t notice the mutant thing, but I’ll take your word for it because I like the films on their own and don’t have a context for where they would be missing.

I’m sorry. Hopefully you will understand someday.

Disney owns the best content, period. Name a company that owns better content.

If Walt was alive, I wonder if he ever dreamed his company would have become a huge conglomerate in the entertainment business.

Dan makes better videos for MacRumors than Disney makes films. I think Linus Media Group and Weinstein both have far better content than Disney. They have a passion for what they are creating, and don’t water it down to simply get the largest audience. Go ahead and confuse best with revenue.

Ok, now I know you're just a hater or have some axe to grind. Thanks for making this easy!

The pink slips are going to by flying at FOX today. My sources tell me about 60 percent of them will never see a mouse paycheck.

Probably. And honestly, between X-Men and Fantastic Four, I sometimes wonder if Disney just figured it was cheaper and more useful to buy the whole damn company over renegotiating the rights to those two.

Not really. The cheaper option for Disney is to let Comcast purchase Fox because Marvel's film contract includes a clause that if the company (Fox in this case) were to be dissolved, acquired by or merged with another company, the rights automatically revert back to Marvel.

ABC/Freeform shows are a reminder of this fact. They all look cheaply made. Take American Idol for instance. The Fox run, even in its earliest seasons, looked like a world-class competition. There were extreme budget cuts in the last three seasons but the stage, the set, the camerawork stayed elegant. Compare that to ABC's take on the show. It's garbage! It looks like a second-rate nightly club jamming session. Everything looked cheap. At one point in the auditions phase, they even held the damn show inside a warehouse. A reality show like that is cheaper to produce than scripted drama, but ABC/Disney managed to make it look so damn cheap.

Yea dude you're right! I never noticed that!! Xmen and mutant are so synonymous with marvel.

Hmm..I will add Disneys streaming service as soon as it's released.....I can drop Hulu most likely and keep Netflix and Amazon Prime. It's no way Apples streaming service can truly compete unless they buy HBO out......
