It started at $8/mo and is now $13/mo. They haven't even doubled the price and yet delivered everyone tons of more content - licensed and originals. To say they "pulled this plenty of times" is a bit of a stretch.
You're completely out to lunch. They have raised the price TWICE in the last 10 months alone. They are dropping licensed content at a rapid pace. Last quarter they posted their biggest drop in US customer base ever.

They are in big trouble. Long-time customers are jumping ship, and rightfully so. Apparently they thought people who are long-time subscribers wouldn't notice the multiple price increases or the dropping of content they originally subscribed for. Who knew?

It's funny, how in fact we end up paying sooooo much more every month, than we used to a few years ago - subscriptions everywhere, music, tv, books, audiobooks, apps, games - the total can be over $50-60 every month for the fun of it :)

I actually pay a lot less money than I used to for entertainment. Even once I subscribe to Disney+, I'll still be spending less.

I have a gut feeling it’s something to do with Disney’s contract with Sky Cinema. Really hope it launches sooner rather than later! :(

Thats frustrating it's not launching in the UK straight away. Looking forward to it as well, it's great its going to integrate with the TV app.

Stupid SKY TV ruining everything, first it was F1 now this!

Please be aware that DisneyLife exists for UK customers. https://www.disneylife.com. But that service will probably transform to Disney+ soon.

Disney already has streaming rights for all their Disney (and Pixar) content already in the UK due to DisneyLife. It's just Marvel and Star Wars that they don't (for now).

DisneyLife doesn't have some of the newer releases such as Cars 3, Incredibles 2, Coco, Ralph Breaks the Internet etc

Something tells me it won’t be $6.99 a month for long.
Prices will go up after a year I’m betting, this price is to get people hooked before prices go up. Netflix pulled this plenty of times
Want to bet?
I give it six months to a year before they raise the price.

wondering what you all think about the pricing now. I was able to lock in three years for $140. That breaks down to $3.88/month for 36 months. Must be a bait and switch!

I am excited for the release on 11/12. Nice to know the Apple app will be conduit.

I don’t see the price going up in 6 - 12 months. Disney can offer a lower price due to the amount of sustained subscribers they will have, barring streaming malfunctions or some other ongoing problem.

I was initially in the "who cares if the price goes up in 6 months" club because I would still get 6 months of a good deal. I could then decide if it was still worth it if the price increased.

I also locked in the 3 year deal for less than $5 a month.

That 3 year deal was too good to pass with all the wonderful content. Like you, I am glad I did that. Now we don't have to worry for 3 years.

Disney stock is locked and loaded. Wall Street will be blown away by the success of this product. Every family I have talked to about it is planning subscribing.
