No one cares about Apple’s social justice woke programming.
Where did that come from, and what Apple shows are doing that? I've looked through all of them, and I haven't found any, but I guess I don't really know what that means. Do you mean these Christmas specials? Is it because they're religious?

I know that they have some militaristic co-productions. Is that kind of stuff woke? Would you rather have sleepy shows? Snoopy's not sleepy.

Disney today announced that streaming service Disney+ has hit 86.8 million subscribers, a milestone that it has reached 13 months after launching. Disney+ has gained well over 10 million subscribers since November, when the service had 73.7 million subscribers.

Disney shared the new subscriber metric during Disney Investor Day, which is also expected to see the company unveil new franchises and content related to Marvel and Star Wars. Disney today also announced plans for a new bundle that will include Disney+ alongside the Hulu ad-free subscription service.

At launch, Disney projected that it would hit 60 to 90 million subscribers by 2024, a goal that the company has met and will soon exceed. Disney+ has been more successful than Apple TV+, which launched right around the same time, but Apple does not provide Apple TV+ subscriber numbers so there's no direct comparison to make. If Apple TV+ were hitting the subscriber numbers that Disney+ has reached, Apple executives likely would have mentioned it.

‌Apple TV+‌ has struggled to compete with Disney+ because Disney has an established catalog of content along with popular Star Wars and Marvel content. Apple has been working to build up new original TV shows and movies, but it still trails behind Disney.

I did the trial and got bored watching the same shows and movies I've watched for a while. I'm kind of glad the parks remain closed since they have been ripping us off and treated us bad for decades.

It's a shame, I was hoping people won't like the idea of a fragmented streaming market. I had Netflix, Hbo and Amazon one time, but had enough. I have no desire to search for a specific show in half a dozen or so services. Lucky me has a privateering license from my government.

Glad its doing well. With the insane amount of new content they announced today at their investor day its clear they mean business.

Meanwhile AppleTV+ still has what, 1 new obscure show every couple of months if youre lucky? Apple need to pull their finger out, or get out of the game.

If you mean mature as in "mature-rated" shows, then I hope you're wrong. I'm sick of all the great show concepts that get ruined by language, nudity, violence, etc.. Believe it or not, there are still lots of people out there who would rather enjoy a great movie or show without all the filth that is so common in hollywood these days.
The filthier the better.

I grew up with “The Wonderful World of Disney.” I also went to a lot of Disney made movies and it was rare to hear curse words much less a story line you couldn’t watch with the entire family and everyone enjoyed the simple but family foundation / 50s type atmosphere (so to speak).
Not really sure what Disney movies you're talking about - it's not like we see Elsa or Buzz Lightyear swearing, and even most of their live action content is pretty firmly in the PG to PG-13 category and generally aimed a broad family audience. And most of their animation output really isn't that different from classic Disney, outside the fact that it's all CGI now (unfortunately).

Given what Disney announced today in the Stars Wars universe alone, I'm in it for the long haul. Everything else is a bonus.

I wonder how many people took a year subscription because it was cheaper and wont sign up for longer. I was one of those. Not dissapointed or anything but think i'd rather wait another 6 months and then maybe sign up for 1-2 months and cancel again.
I did the one year... and it just renewed recently. I have no choice... three kids

I think it’s great but I will most likely cancel because I already owned our fav Disney films through iTunes. I bought it for my 6 year old but she never uses it! She’s more obsessed with you tube which is depressing me!
Just go right now and uninstall that trash youtube kids from your phones and devices... Problem solved.. Mine was watching all manner of crap and then along with the ad's is scary..

It’s a very accomplished service with a gargantuan library. Only downside for me is the inability to mark movies watched/unwatched or create custom playlists, but I think I have been spoiled by Plex when it comes to library management and display options. Overall I think Disney + offers fabulous value for money.

I only wish I could pay for it, but as it turns out it's not available in any of the 3 countries where I have an address and a working payment methods... 🏴‍☠️👀

That number is going to skyrocket with 10 new Star Wars and 10 new Marvel series planned for Disney+. I do have a 3 year old daughter and Disney+ gets a solid workout in our house for sure. When she isn't watching it I'm watching Star Wars, Marvel or some classics I haven't seen in ages. Plus some more kid friendly family movies like Ivan have been great and we have likely watched it a couple dozen times already. Quickly becoming my favorite streaming platform behind Netflix. Once Disney massively expands its new geek content it will be a treasure to have.

HBO Max has released dozens of exclusive new series and movies this year while Disney + has the Mandolorian and a remastered copy of the Apple Dumpling Gang.

i am not talking about content. I am talking about active subscribers. For instance, HBO has 24 mio customers and only 12 mio of those have even bothered to activate their FREE HBO Max. Your comment makes it actually even worse. Disney doesn’t even have to do much to blow through the roof while hbo is investing so much with little return

I think Disney is know for its sordid past. What's less wholesome about them today? Do you realize what they used to be like?
Everyone used to be like Disney openly. Now most people just hide it

So you're a shareholder. Otherwise why would you care more about subs than actual content?
