So this is the big selling point of this headset
That’s going to make people rush out & buy it
Content (this and other content) is one selling point of Apple Vision Pro?

Why would you think this particular piece of content is the BIG selling point? Why would you think anyone else thinks so?

Man, if there's anything I want more in life, it's another Marvel movie.

I need one of those like I need a hole in my head.

It’s called sarcasm

If Apple is trying to entice people to buy the Vision Pro, I don’t think another marvel series is the way to go. At least not based on the numbers and reviews of recent marvel releases.
Apple hasn't begun trying to entice consumers yet. They don't have enough content which is why they are still only targeting creators and developers who look to brands like Disney for inspiration and ideas. After WWDC next month, I would say the AVP campaign officially begins.

These types of comments really do amuse me - I remember the same was said a few weeks back when Apple announced a game for the AVP ("Solitare" if memory serves). It's gonna get very boring for everyone if this same comment is rolled out whenever Apple announces anything AVP!

Surely everyone who's used an iPhone understands the potential of a new computing platform and that content and apps will come over time. And, no - I'm not saying its going to be the next iPhone - it's too expensive in its current incarnation. But it's a new and emerging platform that the early adopters have obviously embraced already - so why not let them enjoy it without pouring cold water all over it!

I don't own a Vision Pro, and have never used one. But I can see the platform has great potential, and I'm excited to see what advances and plans Apple will reveal at WWDC!

So, cartoons.

That’s the exciting content for “the future of computing.”

Cartoons. For kids.

This is really going to help Vision get a foothold in the enterprise sector, right?
Yeah, Disney has really dropped the ball hard.

If they think this is going to help them get a foothold in the enterprise sector, they must be crazy, right?

This reminds me of Apple using U2 to promote products long after U2 were past their prime.

Disney killed Marvel like they kill all franchises/businesses (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Pixar, etc.). Marvel jumped the shark many moons ago. This partnership won’t move the needle for Apple.

Yeah, Disney has really dropped the ball hard.

Well, in my opinion both companies dropped the ball. Apple by releasing a product that most people will never want and Disney by not having a solid library of Vision specific content at the ready for launch.

Apple’s CEO made a solid pivot away from talking about consumers and towards the enterprise market when discussing Vision on the earnings call last week. My comment is in reference to that. Disney/Marvel content isn’t going to entice businesses to buy Vision.

There are multiversal variants of key Marvel characters, chances to learn mystic arts, and an opportunity to harness the power of the Infinity Stones.

I've heard this kind of marketing copy enough to imagine what these phrases will translate to in the actual game.

Prepare to be underwhelmed.

I would love to be proven totally wrong and hear anything about this game ever again. But I kind of doubt it.

I wonder how many own goals Apple is going to put in the net here before finally just quietly putting the AVP out to pasture.

What an embarrassment of a product and launch

This is making the HomePod, AirPods Max, 2013 Mac Pro and even the TouchBar look really good

Nothing can touch the "whiff" of the butterfly keyboards.
That was an all timer Tim Cook era mistake that he gets to wear ... forever

(before folks explode -- I have an own and enjoy my APM's -- but they are heavy, overpriced and have a sort of half baked feature set and execution ... I'm criticizing something I own and use here...)

I think their messaging is the biggest miss, honestly. Reminds me more of Apple Watch. Kind of a big swing and a miss at first, but they kept at it and made it something people accept and buy, if not something that totally set the world on fire.

That, and that Tim seems slightly desperate to have something all his own to call his legacy. It seems clear to people watching closely that Steve handed him a mostly fleshed out five year plan. After that, he seems to be unsure what to do besides keeping the margins up. Which isn't bad on its own, but his plan for that is starting to run out of margin room.

The Disney/Apple connection is no secret. There’s no doubt that both companies see the Vision as a driver for Disney+ subscriptions.

Which is absolutely hilarious. Such a clear example of tunnel vision.

My most charitable take on this is that we'll look back on it in some years the way we look back at early iPhone apps that are very primitive now but broke ground for their time.

What is it that Tim has done to make you think he is slightly desperate? Or is it that you would feel desperate if you were in his place?

Steve handed him a mostly fleshed out five year plan.
So, the Apple Watch and the Apple Television Set and the Apple Car and the HomePod was Steve. And then Tim came up with the idea for Apple Vision and went down to product development and said "make this happen".

I think if Tim is only slightly desperate, then he'll shrug it off and won't actually suffer, even if Apple Vision doesn't change the world.

Desperate may not be the right word. Perhaps I should simply say "seeking something" to be his specific legacy.

Obviously everything I said was conjecture, but it fits what I remember happening at the time. Five years out was only 2016.

And I'm not comparing myself to him, I'm posting **** on a forum and he's raking in millions. It's all relative. This is what we do here.
