Remember the last time Apple spread itself too thin? It’s doing it again. Do a very few things very very well.
It seems in the past 8 years things have changed quite dramatically from when this quote came out... Circa 2012

They sell far fewer products than companies many times less valuable than them.
quality? For sure. But I don’t think it’s because they sell too many different kinds of products - i don’t think the reason MacOS has issues is because they are making tv programs.Therein lies the rub, they are evaluated as an extremely valuable company but have YOU not noticed them slipping a little in quality?

I can understand that, however, i got a “free trial of Apples TV+, i consider myself to be a screen junky and am having a difficult time finding true value in their lineup. I feel as though it was a knee jerk reaction of theirs to put out this software service.
If Steve Jobs was alive than Disney would likely be making exclusive content for Apple TV+ because Steve would have used the threat of dumping all his stock to crash the Mouse's portfolio. If Steve Jobs were still alive, Disney/Pixar would not be competing with Apple.
This is just another one of those Tim Cook bean counter moments.
Just saying.

That’s exactly the problem with Apple without Steve. Everything Steve did was because he was passionate about it. Not because he wanted to compete with someone or make a quick buck. Tim’s Apple just go for profit and market share. Everything else is secondary.
I think that Steve Jobs could have never run Apple as it is now.
That was different because it was deeply personal. It wasn't about competition.Wasn’t going thermonuclear competing with someone.
That's true. He would've run it much better.I think that Steve Jobs could have never run Apple as it is now.
Going forward, anyone wanting to watch "Hamilton" next month will have to pay for at least one month of Disney Plus, priced at $6.99
Yes, macrumors didn’t word that properly. It’s not "based" on the play, it *IS* the play! With Broadway dark until at least the fall, this was a coup for both Disney and Miranda. It would be interesting to know if Hamilton brings more subscribers to Disney. Even if viewers pay just for a month's subscription to see Hamilton and then drop it, it would be cheaper than seeing Hamilton in a movie theater (and a pittance compared with Broadway).
BTW, the Hamilton movie is not "based on" the Broadway show, it is the Broadway show which was filmed using multiple cameras.
Wanna bet?
Considering Disney’s goal was 60-90 million subscribers by 2024 and they’re already at over 50 million with a pretty poor offering in terms of new content, I’ll take that bet.
You lose. I’ll be watching on Plex for free.
There is no way Apple would be allowed to buy Disney. The Disney that was around when Jobs was alive is nothing compared to now. Apple would have faced opposition in the US and EU. Disney is Marvel, ESPN, Star Wars, ABC off the top of my head. The government would have just responded to Apple with a laughing crying emoji.I personally thought that Steve Jobs through PIXAR would have leveraged the Apple profits to buy Disney and create a completely different platform than we have today. That's not something in Tim Cook's wheelhouse. Jobs always said that his interest in TV was a hobby, but all the time running PIXAR too. So I think things would have been far different if Jobs was still running the show. My 2 cents.
In all fairness if ESPN had actual content right now they felt was worth a price increase I’m sure they would have. Hard to justify a rate bump when you literally have nothing to show but video games and cornhole competitions.People have been saying that about ESPN+ since launch and they’re still waiting.

I assume you mean once the free year is up?I’m probably going to cancel Apple TV. The catalog is not that big.
