Don't know how much Disney+ cost but I have the impression it has a much bigger quality catalog than Netflix.
I would hope so. Disney's been producing content for almost 100 years.

Netflix starting producing their own content in 2013.

Apple simply doesn't have enough content yet to justify a subscription. They're making gradual progress, but so far don't have a "must see" series. They've acquired a few movies, but again that's not enough content. Like other media companies, if they wanted a lot of subscribers in a hurry, they'd need to purchase a popular studio's catalogue. But I don't think that's their aim.
Completely agree. The only thing it’s good for is entertaining kids.

Disney has put together a deep and enduring catalog that will appeal to generations of families.

The Mandalorian was awesome however Wanda Vision stunk big time. But Winter Soilder is finally coming out soon it should wash the stink that is Wanda Vision.

Another time to remind everyone how MR forum were wrong about Disney+, that it would fail miserably. ( And Apple TV+ )

I’d say a very different cataloge than Netflix. Netflix has way more general content for adults. Disney Has tons stuff for younger viewers and stuff for us codgers that like the marvel movies, Star Wars, etc. I’d say they don’t directly compete much, but compliment each other.

Which explains why Disney+ makes sense. A show like WandaVision would never have been greenlighted as a movie because it isn't chock full of CGI fight scenes or boast a star-studded cast, but all reports point to it being crucial for setting up the next phase of Marvel movies (multiverse, x-men, fantastic 4 etc). So people will still watch it because they are already subscribed to Disney+. It's ideal for their risker titles which aren't assured of being cinema blockbusters.

"Apple does not provide ‌Apple TV+‌ subscriber numbers so there's no direct comparison to make, but if Apple had Disney+ numbers, Apple executives likely would have mentioned it."

Yea, but it's not just Apple. Every company does the same. Don't think i've ever head a company do a song and dance over how many subscribes they "lost"

I got it just for the marvel movies in 4k

PQ w/ ATV 4k is awesome and so convenient compared to physical discs

I had the free trial last year for The Mandelorian and then cancelled. Decided to pay in December to watch Mulan and then Wanda vision and now I’m keeping it this year for the Marvel Shows. Wanda vision made no sense in the first two episodes but it definitely picked up afterwards and it does set up the multiverse story (hopefully get all three Spider-Mans in the third Spider-Man film). I like the Marvel films so these shows fill in the gaps.

Same, I'm surprised by how many people love Disney+ over Netflix. But maybe that will change as they create more shows. Apparently Disney+ is doing 3 spin-off series' from the Mandalorian.
You mean like WandaVison, which is getting rave reviews?
Or Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which has gotten more buzz than most tentpole big budget box office films in the last few years?
Oh yeah, it’s an entertainment wasteland to be sure. 🙄

There's been chat on the definition of what paying for means.. and frankly I do not think 'its bundled with your other package' means you're paying for it. If there's an amount thats allocated to it then you are but for instance, I got a year free with a pay monthly sim, where there is no specific cost to Disney so for me thats free - the sim price was comparative on other networks price wise for the cellular content so this is free to me, and the network is paying something to disney - I assume less than the cost of the standalone sub.

Disney+ has tons of good content and keeps adding to it with more great new OC like WandaVision.

Take note Apple, because AppleTV+ pales in comparison.

Mandalorian is an overhyped fan service vehicle full of unnecessary monsters and even more ridiculous imperials than the original trilogy. It wasn't worth the electricity I used watching it.
I loved it!

I'm looking forward to the next series. I had doubts over other I would get value from the Disney+ service, but I have. It's good to look at old stuff i saw in cinemas when I was a child too.

Not sure what your expectation was, but the Star Wars lore outside of the original trilogy is pretty deep. Check out Clone Wars or Rebels if you have patience and interest.

WandaVision isn't even done yet. There are 3 more episodes left, so saying it stunk is a little premature. Now, if it was done I would say that's fair. I am not all in on WandaVision and don't think it is as good as other Marvel properties, but it isn't bad either. The first few episodes did not grab me in the way it seems to have grabbed others, but once we hit episode 4 I was feeling like it was Marvel again and I am digging it for the setup it is doing for Phase 4.

The last 2 episodes have been great.

I paid through Apple One subscription and then apple gave me a credit for Apple TV+ recently.
Did you reach out to Apple for this, or did they do it proactively? I just started an Apple One subscription and was wondering if I'd get a credit.

If that were true, Disney+ would see a big drop in subscriber numbers after the season ends. But that's not the case. Disney+ has grown subscribers each quarter.

Disney Plus subscribers per quarter:

As of Dec. 28, 2019 : 26.5 million
As of Mar. 28, 2020 : 33.5 million
As of Jun. 27, 2020 : 57.5 million
As of Oct. 3, 2020 : 73.7 million
As of Jan. 2, 2021 : 94.9 million
Thank you. That, "…they only have 'The Mandalorian'…" argument is getting so tired now.

While this is certainly good news, the truth is that 94.0 million are just joining to watch The Mandalorian.
You are completely underestimating the number of parents who are paying for access to practically all of the Disney movies and TV shows.
