That would be great for us but bad for Apple unfortunately. If Apple really cared about us, they would definitely not hesitate to throw money to build an amalgamation of content for us

Might want to edit your post for spoilers. But hey I needed Game of Thrones explained to me, but that was part of the fun reading about it.

I found GOT easy to grasp once you have read the books as the show is just a condensed version of it. But even that is a lot of material.

Yeah I had never read the books. Usually I have Wikipedia opened as I am watching it haha. The old English sometimes was difficult to understand

Wiki certainly does help. If you ever get bored, try the books, I found them a delight to read and I’m not even a native speaker either. Here to hoping Martin finishes the books in his lifetime. Not another Robert Jordan please.

I don't think you understood what I had meant by my comment, as I did not claim that "it’s an entertainment wasteland". Although looking back I did a poor job of wording my comment. There isn't much content on Disney+ that interests me, and that's ok, people are allowed to have different tastes. A lot of people evidently love Marvel content, which Disney+ capitalizes on. That's great, but I'm not interested. Different strokes for different blokes.
Very true. I read these threads to get an idea of what people are watching. I myself don’t subscribe to any steaming service.

Only two characters in the show seem irreplaceable to me personally. She wasn’t one of them.
She probably has more fans than anybody on the show due to her MMA Career and being an inspiration for strong independent women for over a decade. Carries almost a cult status.

Begs to reason she was a big draw card for many viewers. Disney are idiots.

I think that could easily be discussed in both directions in the appropriate forum. Nobody involved struck me as particular intelligent in the entire process though to be honest.

She might have fans, the character though was as one dimensional as most things in the show and not important enough for me to miss.

I agree her character is ok but nothing great.

I’m loving Disney+. It’s got Star Wars. And my kids love it. That with discovery+ I got streaming covered.

Verizon is merely passing Disney+ subscription as part of your Verizon plan. Probably not full $6.99/month, but a good percentage of it. It's certainly not free.
Verizon gave a year of Disney+ then switched it to 6mos on some unlimited plans. I just hit the 13 month mark and canceled it but another family member renewed it for the annual rate. So while Disney+ was certainly free, it was chump change compared to the cellular plan cost.

The first two episodes really hit home on the nostalgia for me. I remember as a kid watching all the Dick Van Dyke, Laverne and Shirley and Mary Tyler Moore type shows when I got home from school. All reruns on syndication, but still. Add to that the dark undertone and I was hooked immediately! If the upcoming Marvel shows are even remotely as interesting, Disney+ is going to rock it (and that doesn't even include all the upcoming Star Wars stuff, too).
I appreciate that aspect of it. My wife and I did the same as kids. The problem is our kids. They were like what the heck? With the way entertainment is now that whole concept of “how TV was“ was lost on them. I think they should have added a few more hooks for the younger/clueless group.

The series has gotten a lot stronger since, and I’m glad we stuck it out to get where we are now. I think Disney should consider viewership numbers when they introduce an odd concept like they did, and make people wait a week to see the next piece for something that weird.

Yeah, Disney took the slow burn approach with the show which I think in the end worked out as it has really extended and grow the conversation around the show, and quite possibly brought back those folks who might have abandoned after 3 episodes. Pretty sure they released the first two episodes together to give the first viewers a way to get the black and white episodes out of the way.

My 8 yr old son didn't quite get it at first, similar to your kids, so I had a lot of explaining to do, but then I suppose the theme isn't quite targeted at 8 yr olds anyways :)

If you're into human theories including related computer analogies, this goes deep and may just be of interest to the more intellectual MR reader...

No, I was just trying to be funny and emphasize how much I enjoy The Mandalorian.

Disney has been making movies and TV Shows for a very long time for people of all ages and has a lot of great content. Their subscriber numbers don’t surprise me in the least.

It is highly likely that anyone will ever like everything a media company puts out.

While I often joke about how Snoopy is the only thing worth watching on AppleTV+ (they really need a new name), Apple has made some really good shows in a short amount of time. They just don’t have a large enough catalog in AppleTV+ to justify a subscription price.

Now if they could some how include a huge chunk of their iTunes movie and TV show catalog in the subscription, I think that would be a game changer.

My apologies then, joke went over my head :)
