My buddy had all his movies purchased on DVD, then when Blu-Ray came around repurchased each one of them to complete his Blu-Ray library. I'm not laughing at you, just curious if they will have some newer format and people will have to jump again.
Buying them used on ebay ensures none of this goes to their corporation, sans a little but of demand increase

No… but people can prefer one economic system to another. A capitalist… prefers capitalism. He’s not a capitalist economic system.

I hope this statement is valid even though I didn’t use clapping hand emojis between syllables.
I’d say that the fact that you didn’t use clapping hand emojis makes it more valid! I legit can’t take the clapping hands emojis seriously anymore, it’s like “it’s gotta be sarcasm, right? Who even uses them anymore to emphasize their message?!”

And people laugh at me for buying Blu-Ray… I have every Disney title I’ll ever want and won’t have to pay Disney for them again or watch any annoying ads to enjoy them.
It makes you wonder, doesn’t it? With the cost of living spiralling upwards, will we start to see a resurgence of BR. When streaming was a few quid a month it was an easy buy. Now those few quid are not so few and plenty of folks are turning off…. Some may well be heading back to DVDRip….

Maybe I'm alone in this, but somehow paid subscriptions with ads make absolutely no sense to me. If I'm paying for something it better not have f—n ads.

You're not alone but pay/ad hybrid models have been the norm for ages whether it be newspapers, magazines or cable/satellite television. I imagine the availablity of ad-supported streaming service plans will continue to grow.

I see this as simply giving people more choices. In this case, someone can go with the Disney+ ad-free plan for $10.99/month or go with an ad-supported plan and save $3/month. Or don't subscribe at all. Something for everybody.

This is a great deal if you like watching parent trap and old yeller back to back. Throw in the return of flubber, and oh my golly. The only decent thing on Disney was Obi Wan and Boba Fett.. and even with those, you're wise to let the whole season get released, pay for a month, then go back to not buying Disney. Unless you enjoy Mary Poppins and Polyanna on repeat.
Unfortunately have a six month old, so might be stuck with the Disney tax for a while!

I’d rather DVD myself. Quality isn’t as good, but it’s a heckuva lot easier to rip than Blu-Ray, easier to author, and easier to play back, as long as optical drives remain a thing.

I’ve been trying to figure out which streaming service to cancel, as it’s all just getting too much now. Disney just made that decision a bit easier but I’ll probably ditch Apple TV+ too as it’s just not mature enough yet (even though a lot of what is there is fantastic) 🙃

With all these companies raising their prices, pretty soon we will be paying more than we used to pay for cable back in the day.
Ever look at the cable rebroadcasting fee and sports fee, together that increases your bill $40. Realistically this sVOD will become more valuable when Hulu expires and a lot of content shifts to where it belongs such as all the Fox content to Disney +. :)

I might be wrong, but I think this can inspire people to pirate content.

Wonder if VZW will kick subscribers down to Ad Tier or totally abandon the perk
is is my question. I have this on one of my lines and the monthly Travel Pass on the other to maximize our “freebies”.

Hulu within the bundle is already the “with ads” version.

That said, I hardly watch Disney+ so it will only bug me when I watch the occasional film.

Is the annual yearly price for Disney+ changing? From Verge article.

My solution to this was to rip each one to a file on my computer and play them that way. I don’t have a 4K tv yet so resolution hasn’t been an issue. Maybe someday in the future I’ll want to get higher res versions but I doubt it. I just need to buy more/faster storage before my current storage crashes.
