There are more originals on it right now than you think, you just need to look. And nope, it's not a weak launch at all. I guess you're not a Disney fan...but for the rest of us who grew up with Disney, this is the gold mine we've been waiting for in years.

4K, Dolby Digital and Atmos is also a welcome feature and it's almost everywhere on Disney+

And regardless if there are three episodes or one episode available now, we still have to wait a week for the rest each so no real basis to fault Disney here.
There are a bunch of garbage originals, yes. As I wrote, there’s only one original drama.

Thanks!

I thought there was some nuance, but I may be confusing with HDR10+, which I believe content creators must explicitly support, meaning a video could be encoded for DV, HDR10+, both, or just HDR (and no HDR at all, of course).

So I guess what I should be saying is that I wish all the providers supported HDR10+ 😁

A late response on my part, but here's the run down:

HDR10 = Open source standard, the "vanilla" default for all HDR content. For the time being, it uses static meta data to produce HDR across a whole piece of content.

HDR10+ = Open source standard, developed by Samsung, and has some industry backers. Unlike vanilla HDR, HDR10+ uses dynamic meta data to produce HDR scene-by-scene, and uses pretty much all of the available bandwidth from HDMI 2.0, which is around 18Gbps.

Dolby Vision = Propriety standard, developed by Dolby, and has many industry backers (a lot more than HDR10+). Is commonly provided with digital versions of movies. It uses a slightly different color gradation than vanilla HDR, and also uses dynamic meta data for scene-by-scene HDR, along with using the maximum amount of bandwidth provided by HDMI 2.0.

HDR10 is currently limited by HDMI 2.0's bandwidth (uses static meta data), which is why HDR10+ and Dolby Vision were created. Once HDMI 2.1 arrives and is more common, vanilla HDR will then use dynamic meta data, making the HDR10+ and Dolby Vision standards pointless.

Being too lazy to read I didn't know you could have like seven accounts and four simultaneous streaming devices. Also works thru desktop browsers like Netflix. Also can download movies onto device. Netflix doesn't always let you do that. Cheaper than Netflix family plan. I suppose 4K is not available for iOS devices just browsers?
No problem signing up except if you sign up via iOS it wanted to use my Apple App Store payment method, didn't offer other. So I signed up via web browser and then I could choose a different credit card.
Since I don't have WiFi where I live I have to use cellular data, streaming quality was good as in dvd quality. Although the audio kept bouncing between mono and stereo making it loud and soft on my tv. I was able to use my iPhone to hdmi adapter to watch Star Wars epi. Surprised final endgame movie was online. Will try to download some movies via WiFi to see the highest quality. Apple TV app asked if they could link Disney plus account service so that was nice all could be viewed in one app.
