Starting on Friday, March 26, Disney plans to raise the price of its subscription streaming service, Disney+. Currently priced at $6.99 per month in the U.S., the cost will be going up by $1 to $7.99 per month.

Those who want to lock in the $6.99 per month price point should sign up for a subscription before March 26. The yearly subscription price is also going up, increasing from $69.99 to $79.99.

The Disney+ bundle, which includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ will be increasing in price from $12.99 to $13.99 per month for the ad-supported version or $18.99 to $19.99 per month for the ad-free version.

Disney+ first announced the price increase back in December, and it comes following many successful TV show releases like "The Mandalorian," "WandaVision," and "Falcon and the Winter Soldier," along with movies like "Soul."

As of March, Disney+ has surpassed 100 million subscribers.

I’m not sure how you lock in 6.99 as the article mentions (most likely wrong). I’ve been a subscriber since day 1 and I got a popup the other day saying my bill is going to 7.99 the next bill which is in April.

Mine just renewed at the old price. If it goes up again I’ll do without unless they add a LOT of new content included in the price. Having to pay ‘extra’ for the newer movies sucks and won’t be worth the subscription once most of the back catalogue is watched. Very little new content added this year that was not already years old or already bought on BR or iTunes. Good quality service though.

Also..... why is this stuff on “MacRumors” seems unrelated to anything Apple?
If you can't see the relationship with any of the streaming services that compete with ATV+ for subscription dollars... a lot of other stuff on this site is going to be just as baffling to you.
My thoughts exactly. I don’t understand why we get articles unrelated to Apple.
It's not that the articles are unrelated to Apple. It's that you aren't seeing the connections. Not everything on this site is verbatim out of Cupertino. Never has been, never will be. In fact I know of no Apple-centric site that does that.

Get the $69.99 annual plan right now to lock in your price.

We could see this coming for a long time now, maintaining a video library of old titles and three new series costs money.
