I am truly baffled by anyone complaining it's going up a $1. It's $12 a year lol. get a grip!

Even if it went up $3 a month, it's $36 a year. That is the price of a take out order. Truly a steal no matter what.
It is a big deal. Disney subscription is not the only thing going up in price.
Gas (for home, heating, cooking etc)
Gas (for your vehicles)
Water
Electricity
Groceries
Property taxes
Phone bill
Tuitions
Clothing
And the list goes on and on...

And everything else in general thanks to inflation.
So, yes, it is a big deal when you add everything up and now you're paying literally hundreds more but your salary does not follow COL or inflation. Get a grip.

My thoughts exactly. I don’t understand why we get articles unrelated to Apple.
For the reason you entered a comment on it — clicks. And clicks = money for the site.

I enjoy Disney+ for all the Star Wars and Marvel content — my son is starting to get into Star Wars so it's a big help.

I won't be paying extra for any movies that launch early. Especially at $30 a pop — no thanks.

Cable TV is going to look attractive again soon, it will be cheaper than all of these subscription services, if people subscribe to multiple services.

Subscription services will price themselves out - based upon people subscribing to multiple.

Lots of carriers are throwing in these services though. Right now I have Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock and Apple TV+, but only pay for 1 of them (unless you include content from Amazon Prime, in which case I pay for 2). For Disney+ I bought the 3 year deal since I have 2 small kids, and am personally a huge Star Wars and Marvel fan. There are still a lot of movies that are not on demand with my cable provider, and nor do they have complete back catalogues of shows. For me, even if Disney plus was $10 I'd still pay for it. We use it more than cable or any other streaming service.

That's how it starts. The fever, the rage... the feeling of powerlessness, that turns good men... cruel.
You mentioning rage reminded me of one of my favorite poems.

---------------

"Do Not Go Gently Into That Goodly Night" Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Subscription services will price themselves out - based upon people subscribing to multiple.

Right now you can subscribe for a month, cancel, and then join another service instead of being stuck with both for an extended period. But you need to actually suspend your subscription and a lot of people forget until they see that the money has been withdrawn. If a lot of people start blinking on and off then back on every few months then I think that the services will start making you subscribe for a longer subscription, 3 to 6 months at a minimum. I don’t think that the month to month subscription will last because of how many services you will need to pay for because the show or sports you watch aren’t available except through a subscription.

I got that plan.

I still don’t get why people fill their pants with urine over 1 dolla.

We used to have no subscription. We used to pay 3 dolla just to rent some low res VHS for one night.

Please be kind rewind.
You can rent 4K movies from iTunes. It’s awesome and cheap.

Luckily I got in a a special deal for an annual plan at $64 so my wife could watch Hamilton. Since our kids are grown and out of the house, we probably used the service a total of 3 time since then. Definitely will NOT be renewing our subscription - we're not their demographic.

That „small price” will increase twice a year until hardly acceptable
Well, I think that twice a year may be a bit extreme. I also think as long as there continues to be a lot of competition, like there is currently, it won't ever get unproportionately outrageous. But even still, I reiterate my original point... as long as they continue to produce high-quality, family-friendly content, I will happily pay them for it. Most other platforms are made up of kids shows, mature content, and a low budget legacy catalog. We need more well-made and interesting content that isn't just filled with constant swearing, nudity, overly-graphic violence, etc.

I have the D+,Hulu, espn+ bundle but if hulu does the $1.99 thing. I'm going to cancel and get just D+ and hulu for $1.99 espn+ for me is worthless except for last year when the streamed all the pga championship last year.

I like the new shows coming out on D+ but I'm enjoying HBOMax more and HBO also doing the day1 theater release at no additional cost but D+ wants $$

The implication of the article is that if you sign up for a monthly plan today, you will be grandfathered in and your monthly renewal will be $6.99. But I don't believe that it true. I am pretty sure that the price is going up for current subsribers too. Would be a good time to buy a year though.

they're gonna need ALOT more original marvel shows to make it worth actually subscribing. and that package sucks. the last thing I want with my comic book shows is sports

We regularly cover things that Apple's competitors are doing, or popular apps and services that are widely available to Apple users. Disney+ applies in both those cases.

That's an unreasonably broad scope for a niche website called MacRumors. That would necessarily include articles about GM, Ford, VW, Peloton, Fitbit, Amazon, Google, FaceBook. Yet I don't recall any new articles about the Volkswagen ID4 or the new Mustang EV, or about the new Peloton bike.

People might have some peripheral interest in hardware that directly competes with an iPhone or IPad or Mac, but most people don't come to an Apple-themed news site to learn what Ford, Peloton, or Disney are doing.

Imagine picking up an issue of Car and Driver and seeing articles about Apple TV because Apple is developing a car. Or picking up Runner's World and reading about the new Mac Pro. Articles about CarPlay and Apple Watch might make sense in those publications, but at some point it gets ridiculous.
