If you can't see the relationship with any of the streaming services that compete with ATV+ for subscription dollars... a lot of other stuff on this site is going to be just as baffling to you.

It's not that the articles are unrelated to Apple. It's that you aren't seeing the connections. Not everything on this site is verbatim out of Cupertino. Never has been, never will be. In fact I know of no Apple-centric site that does that.

what about the millions of websites I can visit with Safari?
It was a foung in cheek post. The answer is obvious as stated on the bottom of the referenced article.... MR get (indirectly) paid for promoting it so that’s the real reason. Site has to make a buck I guess as fanboys don’t pay a membership.

oh .... and check out when I joined. Not a noob despite the low post count. This place used to be about apple rumours. Now just a general click fest of mostly non news. But times changes and the audiences interest too, Apple’s a much bigger outfit now with a much bigger audience and more comoditized dumber down coverage. and very repetitive at times too with a different article for each minutia of change.

but has to pay the bills somehow I guess. No harm in that.

Also..... why is this stuff on “MacRumors” seems unrelated to anything Apple?

MR's got to keep the lights on. Getting witty comments from users on the message boards doesn't pay the bills like it used to.

I’m not sure how you lock in 6.99 as the article mentions (most likely wrong). I’ve been a subscriber since day 1 and I got a popup the other day saying my bill is going to 7.99 the next bill which is in April.
If you've been a subscriber since day 1, why not get a yearly plan? By paying monthly, your cost is $83.88 a year, which is still more than the increase with the yearly plan.

Mine just renewed at the old price. If it goes up again I’ll do without unless they add a LOT of new content included in the price. Having to pay ‘extra’ for the newer movies sucks and won’t be worth the subscription once most of the back catalogue is watched. Very little new content added this year that was not already years old or already bought on BR or iTunes. Good quality service though.
Plenty of new content! And u dont have to pay extra for anything - just wait the three months. This is a great deal even with $1 increase,

At their current subscriber rate, that could be close to 90 million dollars a month in additional revenue, a billion dollars a year. Are they adding that much a month in value to subscribers? Probably not.

This is why I might actually drop Netflix soon. They're not creating enough original content or buying up streaming rights for enough shows to justify their price hikes. Netflix has doubled their premium-tier streaming price since 2014.

Check out what they announced during the D23 expo. They specifically talk about what is coming to Disney+ this year.

90% of what's on Disney+ I've already seen.... Not worth it at any price, except for maybe 1 month chunks to binge watch a show once it's season is over.

This is almost not news, $1 increase monthly, and $10 increase annually is cheap. Compare that to those ever going up broadcast and sports extra fees tacked onto cable providers and like.

They’d already increased it to £7.99 here in the UK. We subscribed when it was first launched last year and I think it was £5.99. Seemed like good value but mainly good for kids stuff + The Mandalorian.

Tried it again at the £7.99 price to see Wandavision but thought it was hugely overrated. Actually, I thought it was extremely bad. So cancelled again. Not much of interest especially if they keep jacking up the price.

You can still just pay $6.99 for a month if you subscribe now. If you wait until Friday you will pay $7.99. Either way when next months bill arrives you pay $7.99 a month. So subscribing now saves you a buck.

all relative. If you already had all the movies bought and oaid for that you wanted to see then 70 bucks just to watch the Mandalorian and Winter Soldier is steep.
My point was that they’ll need to add MUCH more new content to keep justifying the subscription. Milage may vary if course, and I agree it is an excellent service. A buck is nothing... i was talking abiut the annual subs.

I was able to get the 3 year deal when it first came out, We really only watch a few shows on it, we spend more time on Netflix, os it will be a tough decision to make when my 3 years is up.

They had a terrible first year whereas Apple TV had a tremendous first year, but D+ is killing it with the new stuff this year. Neither can touch Netflix yet though. Or HBO Max for that matter.

UK/EU have Star content added comparably. Here because of Comcast owning part of Hulu you can't dissolve that until 2024, so Disney can't create the same Disney + with Star offering DieHard/Alien and other adult content which is put in Hulu which is another service you have to pay for in the states. :)

It's a great service. Aside from Apple TV+, it's the one that feels the nicest app to be in – whether that be on tvOS or iOS/iPadOS.

I'd say Forky Asks A Question was almost worth the price of the first year alone.

And then there's The Mandalorian and WandaVision. First rate entertainment, of cinema quality. Talking of cinema, the animation back catalogue is amazing… all right there at your fingertips.

The recent influx of content with the new ⭐️ tab is great too, lots of things worth a (re)-watch there – movies, TV shows both.

As @toph2toast mentions, there's a massive contingent of new Disney, Star Wars & Marvel series incoming. Disney have really gone all in on producing for their new streaming service. You get what you pay for.
