How about just finally making the AppleTV an ala carte service provider for TV content in general. I want ABC, NBC, CBS,
That would be a HUGE undertaking. Just ask DirecTV about local channels, they had to put what, 4 new satellites in the sky when they began offering them. And all those had far more bandwidth than their earlier sats. (they were also upgrading to HD at the time)

And that's just the USA. Then UK will want locals, and China, and Brazil, ......

Easier to put an ATSC tuner in the box and let you use your own antenna, but that will never happen from Apple. It just doesn't fit their design.

Why?

Parental Controls seems easy enough to me. I don't think we will have to worry about Apple shoving apps at us weekly. ;)

What if I'm the only one in my household and I don't feel the need to enable Parental Controls? It should be a basic feature within the software.

I get that Apple is using the Apple TV as a stepping stool to arrangements with content providers before they launch the full on Apple Television, but this is getting a little ridiculous! A bunch of ugly icons and channels I don't want that STILL require cable subscription verification... This is NOT how we want TV reinvented Apple!!!

i would even be ok with being allowed to re arrange them

Are you serious? You know they added that a WHILE ago right?

cable/satelliet providers vs a la' carte in Apple

The two Disney channels are up & running as of last night though one needs a subscription. HBOgo & the Smithsonian are up & running as well.I would assume that a major stumbling block has been the cable and/or satellite companies that usually bundle such tv/cable stations. Considering the costs that are associated with such services I do hope that a la' carte will be available soon. I spend $110 a month for Directv yet only watch a tenth of what is offered as much of it is garbage. Of course, cable/satallite want to keep their monopoly, so it will be interesting. By the way, the Pac12 is still not available on Directv (I would buy that channel alone), and from what I understand, CBS is still not available on TimeWarner. Just another reason for a la' carte.

They earn more from ****** channels than the big ones. They justify the high prices with the number of channels alone, despite most of it being simple crap
