Nightmare before Christmas is my wife and I's favorite movie.

The. Youboth have great taste and an child like innocence - I know as I do too.

love how stop animation is still being done as it’s pretty close to being a dying or lost art form. Coraline comes close but just misses on the music flow between scenes and misses continuation of the story. I really loathe traditional musicals (save for barber of Seville with Jonny Depp; I think I have the title wrong).

The level of darkness doesn’t seem to scare even toddlers to much either.
You’re both very fortunate enough to have taken your child to Disney as I’ve never been yet on my bucket list.

cherish these moments, tell your grandchildren as best time stories with the pictures, and never cease to let their minds wonder.

would this be possible with a replacable battery? Me thinks not

Never owned a watch with a replaceable battery? These things called gaskets work wonders. There are also numerous waterproof phone cases on the market that allow you to remove an entire phone from a waterproof housing! It’s 100% possible for a device to be both water resistant and have a replaceable battery.

My iPhone X immediately and irreparably broke after a 5 seconds submersion in 20cm of water. Just saying.

make a story and send it to Tim Hollywood and macrumors. If they print it, they are integer, Imgur’s they won’t!

Fixed it for you:

In European Union universe, an iPhone with a user-replaceable battery would have been a different story.

;)

:apple:

fixed it for both of you , Samsung already did it years ago when the Apple apes died of water, Samsung chimpanzees survived, even with replaceable battery.
EU sucks anyways, but not for that idea!

This looks like it was copied and pasted from a Disney press release. I mean, what kind of news story emphasizes the “magical experiences” and names of all the resort’s features along with a photo of one of them? Does anyone go to journalism school anymore?

That's what I though when I read this line:
"...had all of the fun that one could possibly imagine."
Perhaps a little less Pixie Dust next time...;)

35 feet? That’s pretty deep, plus, If you think about the timeframe, 30 minutes is quite lonG. Also, with water pressure as you continue to descend, the ingress points on an iPhone are accelerated. For me personally, I wouldn’t complain about your phone dying within 30 minutes, especially at that depth.

Who’s complaining?

Simply stated facts.

Phone was in my wetsuit cargo shorts pocket when I went in. Came back up and realized only then it was there.

Alas. Her phone did better. No idea what depth the lagoons are at the point she dropped it. Either way, her phone would definitely have been under more than 30 minutes.

You took your phone, which has a rating of 30 mins at 6ft to a depth of 35 ft? Did you not think to put it in a dry bag or diving case?

It was in my wetsuit pocket unbeknownst to me when I dropped in.
Only realized when I was snacking and looking for my phone topside that my phone was an unwilling dive partner.

"...despite being submerged for quite some time, she found the device to be completely functional..."
so exactly what is "quite some time"?
Anyway
glad to hear about pics were retrieved
family photos are priceless

If the timeline of the story is correct, they visited around Halloween and the iPhone was returned recently, so probably could say between end of October and late January, about 2.5-3 months. The phone was probably in the water at least 1 month.

You've spoilt it now, people were enjoying pretending that Apple glues in components to save your phone from dying.

I lost my iPhone 6 while skiing a few years back. I could see in find my iPhone where it was but it couldn’t be found (it didn’t help I had the white one). I set an emergency message with a contact number and when we left the mountain area a few days later I considered it gone.

About 5 months later I had a call from the ski field, the snow had melted and an iPhone had been found so they charged it up and called the number in the emergency message.

They returned it to me at no cost and the phone still works to this day with no issues (although I have since moved on to newer iPhones). I don’t think the iPhone 6 even had a water resistant rating.

As a former WDW Monorail Pilot, this is why no one should take the stinky old ferry boats. Stick with the Highway in the Sky instead.

😉
Monorail Pilot? Cool!
However, now I will use that in my argument against the rapid adoption of AI driven cars and trucks: "I'll believe it after I see pilotless monorails at WDW."

But then I would have to use a waterproof case, making my phone that much thicker and bulkier for a benefit that I would use at most once every 2 years.

The thing that sticks out to me is the fact that the family was concerned that they lost all their pictures. These days there is no reason the loss or destruction of a phone should result in losing your photos. Purchase more iCloud storage and turn on iCloud photo syncing. Or load the Google Photos app. For crying out loud, at least turn on iCloud backup.

I will never understand why people do not all sync their treasured pictures to iCloud.

Some of us have so many photos that the cost of using iCloud Photos would be prohibitive.

Then sync the last 1000 so you have some chance of saving your most recent before you can get home to back up.

No one loves Disney World more than me (AP Holder) but the monorails are in serious need of updating and don’t smell great either.

A fellow huge Disney World fan here (AP/DVC) and I agree, the monorails need updating. I‘ve been on them several times when they needed to reboot them. On a side note, the gondolas are much better than I thought they would be. Hope to see them expand the monorail, gondolas or both. :)

Amazing how people are so desperate to turn a positive into a negative!! Postitive - iPhone survives underwater for a period of time and at a depth that exceeds all expectations in order for it to be retrieved in a working state. Negative - vitriol such as "put your photos on iCloud and it won't be of any concern to you"!!! Focus on the title of the thread and just be pleased they got it back, for God's sake! 🙄

They had no wifi. They did have iCloud on. Don’t be so presumptuous.

The family does. They had no wifi connection. The father explained in a comment in this thread.

Always the monorail, never the ferry. ❤️❤️🚝 ❤️❤️

i blame my parents for my years of vacations at the Contemporary & Poly, a lifestyle to which I have not been able to provide the last 15 years after moving to Florida 🤣, poor kids have to just “suffer” with APs and sleeping in their own beds 🤣🤣
