Awful and ignorant comparison.

The best comparisons for the iP5 are the Optimus LTE and the HTC One X because they are all IPS and around/ over 320 PPI, with full RGB matrix.

Both the One X and the LTE are superior. DisplayMate sounds like noobs who think that only Apple and Samsung exist.

Unfortunately those phones are NO WHERE NEAR to the Apple Iphone 5 in terms of performance in just about every conceivable area.

I might have gotten a bad phone then cause my buddy and I watched a video on you tune that was one if the planet earth type videos and compared to his 4s the 5 was way oversaturated reds were blurring together and clipping same with some of the greens. The saturation is way too high on the 5 display imo

... how about people just buy the one that looks better to them? For me, it's an iPhone. For others, it'll be a GSIII, or something else. Who cares if other people like something different than what they do?

I have to admit, I was seriously impressed by the screen when I first started using my 5. The colours were noticeably richer and the blacks were much deeper when compared to my 4S.

For some reason I didn't expect the image quality to improve that much. I didn't notice any difference between the 4 and 4S and not much difference between the 2G/3G/3GS. I thought the 5 would be the same as the 4S, just a little taller. Very pleasantly surprised.

That seals it for me I'm holding out for the Samsung SIIII Galaxy Nexus 4.6534" 4G LTE Max RGB+ with Jelly Sandwhich

Forget that. Get the Droid RAZR MAXX 4G LTE Xtr3me *SUPERGB*//60053 Ice Cream Cake w/ Adobe Flash X.

All I gotta say....

Shouldn't that be the case since it is the newest phone out?!?

Then the next phone that comes out will have the best screen and so on!

It would of been pretty funny if it didn't though.

Between this report, the performance benchmarks, and drop tests… it looks like Apple really nailed it with this hardware release. Thinner, lighter, stronger, faster, better looking screen… Great stuff. I was one of the people criticising the new design (specifically the two-toned back) when it was first leaked… but I'll gladly retract any negativity in light of all these very impressive reports.

How can this be? Everyone knows the Galaxy SIII is the best smartphone on the planet. (in the solar system, universe, et al) This has to be a mistake!

Where did you see that everybody thinks the Galaxy SIII is the best smartphone on the planet? I'm sure there are some people that feel that way, but I haven't seen any independent study that says that.

I actually thought the two toned back would look pretty classy. It also had to be done-the antennas need to function, and it looks much better than a black splotch like some Apple products have had...

I sort of wish Apple went with Stainless steel (yet another criticism from me) but I can understand why they didn't.

The screen I will concede is far better than my 4S. This is the phone I wished Apple had released last year, and I suspect was mostly going to release (except with an A5 instead), but the Gobi chips weren't ready, so they just did a spec bump with prototypical parts from this one (Camera, software, etc.); the Gobi chips were THAT important.

And the Gobi chip is the most important part of this phone by far. Shame no one talks about it.

Best CPU, best GPU, best screen quality, best battery life, thinnest, lightest, fastest wireless, one of the best cameras, one of the most durable design.

Too bad software didn't really improve this year, because the hardware improvements are so good we could have gotten the most impressive phone since the original iPhone.

For most users however, having proper access to a basic service like Google Maps matters more than breaking hardware performance records.

Oh yeah?!?! Well my friend's cousin's neighbor's uncle's dog-trainer's wife's friend's postal worker's son's therapist's mechanic's second cousin's friend's uncle's mother's caretaker's dad's sister's daughter's teacher's husband's co-worker's friend who know's this guy named Jerry who also happens to be a huge Fandroid says "nah-uh!"

Apple and Samsung combined have 99% of all smart phone profits. Sure other companies exist but they aren't selling a single device in significant volume.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 in the past 3 months has sold 20 Million units. The iPhone will similarly sell millions of units. I have no idea how many the Optimus has sold but this is the first time I've even heard of that phone.

Oh sure. My initial criticisms were aesthetic. Once I understood the nature of the unibody construction, and the purpose of those two windows, it made a lot more sense. Certainly the phone looks better in Apple's product shots than it did in those early mockups, but I haven't seen one in person yet to say whether I've warmed to the look or not. Either way, I'll support form following function any day.

I sort of wish Apple went with Stainless steel (yet another criticism from me) but I can understand why they didn't.

I can't imagine Apple would ever sacrifice the lightness of aluminium. The drop tests show that this unibody construction is incredibly durable, so that's not an issue. Greater scratch resistance would be nice, but in my opinion it's a perfectly reasonable thing to compromise on to get those other gains.

I'm actually really happy that the iPhone 5 beats the Samsung Galaxy S3 in almost every performance/speed/durability/design/etc metric. Not because I want to see the iPhone 5 win because I am obsessed with Apple... But because now the fandroids can finally shut up about how their phone is better and stop trolling! :apple:
