Yes that was my BELIEF before I went in-store and saw the new matte 15" side-by-side with the glassy. No one allowed to change an opinion, eh?

No you are, it just amused me that you said "there is absolutely no comparison" before you'd made a comparison.

Anyway, back to the topic, I have Glossy. Having compared them side-by-side the matte option just looks a bit weird.

I actually plan on buying a glossy screen 15" this weekend. Turns out, you cannot get the 15" in stores with the matte screen and I'm driving to NH to avoid paying 6.25% sales tax. So if I order it online - it costs me $50 plus the sales tax - closer to $200.....

Would definitely prefer the matte, as I have now on my 15" PowerBook.

that's wierd because the apple store near me has a 15" anti glare on dispaly and in stock to purchase in store. I just looked at it for the first time tonight, about 45 minutes ago actually.. I might end up purchasing one this weekend because the matte display looks so good. and my G4 notebook is showing some age

since you prefer matte.. I would defniitley consider ordering it online because you might regret having glossy everytime you open the screen. after looking at one in person.. it's worth the extra money (tax included) in my opinion

My prior comparison was based on pictures from the internet. Side-by-side there is no doubt matte is better.

Has anyone a mb/mbp with glassy+anti glare thingy and a true mbp with matte screen to compare?
I am saying this because I say an MBP (glassy screen) with that anti glare thingy and it appeared me to be good (I am no pro,but I just hate glassy/glossy reflections).
Don't like the silver bezel on matte screens :!

I recently exchanged a (glossy) MBP for an identical model and considered going for the matte option, but had a gander at one in-store and didn't like the lack of glass or the silver screen bezel.

i went from a 17" matte to 15" glossy

sure the colors on the glossy are more vibrant but the glare in certain spots is pretty bad. i have them side by side and the matte is definitely better on the eyes.

not such a big deal since i'll do most of my work on an external matte monitor.

this is my first experience with a glossy.

like the above post, i like the black bezel around the glossy. if Apple made it black on the matte i would have gotten that. lol, yeah, picky, i know.

I have used the 15 inch glassy MBP for 8 months and it STILL drives me crazy when I am doing work or watching a movie. In about a week I will be getting a 17 inch Matte and this will solve ALL of those headaches.

My following statements are not personally targeted to shambo but rather the internet community as a whole. Sadly that's how a lot of opinions are made on the internet. So many people argue to the death about their opinions based on second hand information or even worst third hand information. That's why I only respect opinions from people who have actually used and seen the things they are talking about.

Whether a person likes matte or glossy just make sure it's based on your own personal opinion rather than basing it on someone's opinion and preference. Try out the products yourself before making the final decision.

Count me in as a happy camper with my glossy screen :)

I was one of the folks who desperately wanted a matte screen option, but after seeing the unibody MBPs at the apple store and now owning one, I couldn't be more happy with this gorgeous screen.

As off today (55/(70+55))x100=44% of people have been somewhat unhappy over the glossy screens.

That is a damning indictment against Apple.

Oh for pete's sake! Talk about manipulating numbers. In a thread designed to attract those who WANT a matte screen you got 57% who voted that glossy was fine with no regrets.

Really, what are trying to prove? Personally I think glossy is much better. But if someone wants matte, fine go buy one. The silly part is those who want matte seem like they have a need to convince everyone that glossy must die.

Please, give it a rest. Let people pick the one they want. There is no right answer, it's a personal preference.

There was nothing wrong with my sums, and I say this as a graduate Master in further calculus.

Kudos for that but no one says the sums are wrong, more that your interpretation of a skewed poll is, hence my intentionally "stupid" 3.8 Billion comment.

Keep the votes coming.

So far will still have 71/175*100 = 40.57% totally unhappy with the glossy screens they bought.

Apple need to respond to this.

Meaning that the majority of participants are content with their glossy-decision?

Yeah.... they sure need to respond to this. /sarcasm

Only circa 60%. A real healthy percentage.

In your wonderful analysis, did you take time to notice the trend in this closed, biased poll? People are still voting glossy, and that number seems to be increasing.

On August 26th:

Numbers don't lie, and they seem to be saying something here. The number of 'people unhappy with glossy displays' has decreased to a level of ~40%, meaning -400 basis-points (or -10%) in the matter of two days. This also means that people are increasingly voting to keep their glossy displays than are the people voting to switch to an antiglare display option.

Might want to rethink your analysis.

I'm kinda tempted to do it after playing with the matte model at the store today. My eyes just.. relaxed. I don't think the difference in color was that big compared to the glossy MBP sitting next to it.

He does have a Masters in Further Calculus, unfortunately he's just really bad at data analysis.

So what we gathered from this is you can get a Masters in Further Calculus without actually knowing anything?

Seriously though, you learn how to interpret results better then the thread starter in what grade? 8th? So that means either he is dumb or he is in a grade less then 8th.
