If it really bothers you that much then I say you have bigger issues than hair line scratches on your phone. It's a phone, not a kidney.

I don't care about hairline scratches because I'm not a psycho and know it's a phone that will get scratched.

I like to keep my phone clean and perfect for resale value so yes, they would annoy me... but not the end of the world.

Its a phone, if you worry about little scratches you will not get full use out of it.

Also a new iPhone will be out next year to replace it with;)

This is how I feel. If one get OCD about your phone you will never enjoy it.

I guess I am lucky and replace my iPhone every year and do not have to sell the current phone to pay for it. I usually give it to a needy employee!

No cause I'm not psychotic.

Any device that accepts touch input is going to get hairline scratches.

IDK bud. Sundown, sun hits it at the right angle, and bam you see the ugly scratches. It really isn't that hard to imagine. He was asking a serious question. Your answer was not at all helpful...

It's a phone not a designer outfit, who cares if it gets scratched as long as its usable and the screen is viewable?

Yes, the those hairline scratches do bother me. Last year, I decided to not put a screen protector on my Evo. Over time, it got several hairline scratches.

I've had a case and front & back screen protectors on the 4S since the day I bought it (day after launch day). I'm planning on selling this phone next year and upgrade to another phone (not necessarily another iPhone) so I want it to be in perfect condition.

I've had a screen protector on here for two months, and I have yet to develop any scratches on the screen (protector). I'm not sure why people are worried that it will get all scratched up. If it does, just replace it with another. I bought a 3-pack off amazon for less than $5. No way I would spend $15+ for a name brand. I've compared personally (and had others compare) my screen with cheap-o screen protectors, and an iPhone 4 with a power support, and there is no difference.

OP, u probably have a lot of scratches on yourself, does that bother u?
It probably doesn't bother him. But I also doubt that the OP isn't trying to sell himself for maximum value next year (or the year after), so why would it?
Bad analogies are bad.

I get a little bothered when I notice micro scratches on any of my gadgets.

The majority of the time they're ok but I do get the odd situation where the light catches it just right and it's easily visible.

Yes, that's why my phone is still sitting in the plastic wrap/box. Got it a few days ago but my skin hasn't arrived yet, so it's not seeing the light of day til it's fully wrapped. I can be very OCD about things, such as electronics, or expensive gadgets. But at the same time, usually if I notice a scratch, it'll bother me for a second, then eventually I'll get over it.

I'm also very OCD about scratches on my car. I like to keep things pristine, for as long as I can.

Are you going to go into a dark room and wrap it up first so that it will TRULY never see the light of day before being wrapped?

It bugs the living hell out of me. Without a PowerSupport you will absolutely get hairline scratches.

You need help.

I may not of been that extreme, but I understand, because I kept the plastic on my iPhone for about a day and a half so I could get a screen protector put on it.

No, because he said he gets OCD about such things. Did you even read the post I quoted, he said nothing about resale value.

The point is, your comment was rude. He is "OCD" about getting his toys scratched. Big deal. That doesn't warrant "needing help."

Please note, I out OCD in quotes on purpose. hat most people categorize as OCD isn't really OCD. True OCD, about ANYTHING does require mental help. The extent to which he "worries" about things wouldn't qualify as OCD.

Obsessing over scratches on a phone is quite clearly OCD in my opinion, albeit a mild form of it.

The question you have to ask yourself is, "is it normal to worry about scratches on a phone?" and the answer should be no; so long as the device works most people wouldn't worry about such things.

Your opinion matters not in terms of medical/psychological diagnoses, unless you are a doctor, of course.

I'm not going to get into such a ridiculous discussion with you over something as trivial as a thread on hairline scratches.

I will just say that anybody who obsesses over scratches on their phone should consult a psychiatrist just to be on the safe side.

Seriously? You'd probably be sending people to see a shrink over everything.

FWIW he did say, he gets over it about a second. Hardly obsessing. Again, "OCD" is overused and misused all of the time, especially in cases like this.

You would probably get extra $10-15 resale value to "no scratches" vs regularly used phone (read: hairline scratches that can only be seen in an angle with light). Hardly worth the effort of worrying for the next 1 or 2 yrs about scratches on your phone and investment of films or cases. You probably ended spending more than what you're gonna get for it.

Next we will talk about that slight yellowish hue on the screen that is only noticeable if you put it side by side with another more bluish tinged iPhone in the Apple store and how so much you are affected by it :p
