It's one of those things when you see it, you'll see it all the time. I won't be keeping my phone so those little scratches will be someone else's problem. That being said, it would have been nice if Apple used Gorilla Glass. My co-workers Samsung Galaxy S which is almost 2 years old with no screen protector, looks better than my phone. I'd be lying if I said that didn't bother me.

Well, thus far, I don't see any hairline scratches indoors/shaded areas. I don't think I want to go out into the sun and begin to look for imperfections that may be inherited with anything painted or made out of the color black. Swirls just seems to be common even with new black cars.

So no, it doesn't bother me. Besides, it has protectors, as I don't want to have to reinstall them.

You would probably get extra $10-15 resale value to "no scratches" vs regularly used phone (read: hairline scratches that can only be seen in an angle with light). Hardly worth the effort of worrying for the next 1 or 2 yrs about scratches on your phone and investment of films or cases. You probably ended spending more than what you're gonna get for it.

I usually see phones go for around $50 more if they are in mint condition. I got a good deal on amazon for a case that I like, and it came with a screen protector, all for $9.99. I think the protection is well worth it, especially considering I don't have ac+ (which is a rip off, but that's another story).

I don't know what you mean, when you say "effort". I have put in virtually no effort; I opened the phone, slapped on case and protector, and it's been that way ever since. I actually like the way it feel compared to the naked 4/4S.

Just like a black car these very small scratches are inevitable.

All iPhones will if used naked.

Some owners refuse to believe these scratches are on their phone. They are in denial as if the light is right, there they will be!

Lets watch this thread for those who claim they have been using their phone, naked, and it has no scratches! LOL

there is something wrong with the light, there is no scratches.

Wrong. I can find them for you. I have seen 4 new in the box iPhones, all with very tiny blemishes or scratches. 99% of the people probably wouldn't see them. They are there, floating along with you on that inner tube down the de-Nial river.

I think he was joking :) and referring to "your holding it wrong" line.

If they're there, I sure don't see them. If it requires such close examination, it doesn't bother me because they are otherwise unnoticeable.

Also, I would think that a piece of plastic used as a screen protector is many time more prone to hairline scratches.

There are some scratches on my screen protector and I don't really notice it unless I hold the phone in a certain angle in the light. As long as I can't see them when using the phone normally or feel them then I usually end up forgetting that they are even there.

But, I would definitely invest in a screen protector. There are a lot on the market and if you scratch them you can replace them for much less compared to replacing the glass :p

There's a point when using devices, that I stop being so protective and just use the product with it's sleek design in my hand. I hate the feel and look of using cases with the iPhone because it is just do damn beautiful, why cover that up?

I do use a case right now, but that's because I just got the device and am a little scared that I'll be coming out of the car and it'll slip out of my pocket, a friend hits it outta my hand, the list goes on. However I am eventually going to move to the invisible shield on the BACK to protect it from some dings, as that is how it is set down. I just love the feel of using the natural design of the phone, and it's like two people on my shoulders telling me case or no case.

With the AppleCare that protects against drops, and the shield to "prevent" scratches, I'll make the switch soon.

Yes they bother me but what can you do about it once they are there. Live with them. Just be careful with your iPhone and call it a day.

used too, not anymore. In fact my white iPhone has scratches too. Stopped caring about resale value because Ill just get a replacement at Apple.

Selling an iPhone on eBay with the plastic on will guarantee a faster and higher selling.

Ok i don't use my phone naked however i never used a screen protector.

Maybe thats the point people are trying to get at in here, but i had my 3gs for 18 months and when i turned it in to sell it after giving the screen a good wipe down with my t shirt to remove all smudges, i didn't see one single scratch or any micro scratches

How are you going to do this without real issues with your device?
Getting replacement just because if scratches seems surrealistic for me.. and for Genius guys for sure.

You need help.

You need help if you think I need help.

I do like to keep my things pristine like I said for as long as I can.

I also said that if I notice scratches they bother me at first, but then I dont care eventually. I'm like that with my car, and electronics/toys, and there is really nothing wrong with that. You're acting like I was freaking out and saying that if I get a scratch I'll return it to Apple for another!! No, not the case. Get off your high horse.

My phone has a problem where it doesn't say i have any mail. You know the little 1 in red when you have emails. Ive restored it and set up as new and nothing helped. So ill just use that to get a replacement before the new iPhone comes out (hopefully summer of 12.)

The hairline scratches not so much. But I ended up getting one on my 4 that bothered the crap out of me. Made sure I put a screen protector on my 4S when I got it.

I'm just curious, do you get bothered by loose thread on your clothes? Creases in your books? Scuffs on your computer? These are all signs that you actually usethe product in question, no worrying more about how the product looks than insignificant aesthetic value to it. Yes, my phone has light scratches on it. does it bother me? No, it's almost a year and a half old, and I actually use things that I own.
